Outtakes from CD 14: "Ten Questions to ask Councilman Jose Huizar"

Hola and pre Labor Day Weekend greetings from the"Cut and Paste Fiefdom of CD 14", where no Council District Discretionary Fund is too large to deplete, in the cause of promoting the image of Councilman Jose Huizar.
On the subject of discretionary funds, the likes of former CD 14 Councilman Richard Alatorre and our own "Outtakes from CD 14 Poster Politico" Art Snyder, must be envious of Huizar's use of CD 14 Discretionary Funds, as a political slush fund, to buy votes, errrrr, promote events and projects within CD 14.
As KRLA Talk Radio Host Kevin James found out in his visit to the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council, Councilman Huizar has no shame when it comes to giving $35,000 dollars to promote self, darn wrong again, help with the cost of the Eagle Rock Music Festival.
The likes of Alatorre and Snyder can only wish they had a CLARTS Fund to exploit, instead of having to rely on the largess of the likes of TELACU and Red Devil Fireworks, to finance their political agendas and personal wants. One can only cringe in pondering what the likes of Snyder would of have done with the monetary resources of the CLARTS Fund. But for modern day CD 14 observers, we can only ponder what Councilman Huizar has done with CLARTS, because he has not been forthcoming in providing details of the fund usage.
Continuing with the theme of unanswered question, as a public service, we provide these 10 questions to ask Councilman Huizar in the months leading up to the March, 2011 elections.
1. How many staffers have quit your office since you became Councilman, did you ever tell them to lie to constituents?
2. Did you ever audited any of the politically connected non-profits within CD 14, as you promise in the 2007 elections?
3. What is the current status of the CLARTS Fund and other CD 14 Discretionary Funds? Will you post these statuses on your website?
4. Will the Southwest Museum reopen anytime soon? Do you still support the Southwest Society?
5. Is the CRA a "rouge organization", operating without oversight and transparency, within CD 14?
6. Did you have personal, family motives, for offering a $75,000 reward for information on the double murder near Oscar's Bar?
7. Is it true that your colleagues within the "Horseshoe at City Hall", consider you the laziest member of the City Council?
8. Will trolleys run someday on Broadway in Downtown LA?
9. Will you debate Rudy Martinez and other challengers in your upcoming re election campaign?
10. Do you condone these comments of Academia Semillas del Pueblo Principal Marcos Aguilar, "And ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction", when you use taxpayers money to transport Aguilar and his flock, to CD 14 events?
In the spirit of giving, we provide these bonus questions.
** Are you going to use the "Bocho Card" on Rudy Martinez?
** Do you really have three Legal Defence Funds?
** Did you use "IT Thugs" to hack into the computers of bloggers?
** Why is your Chief of Staff Ana Cubas nervous about the resignation of Field Deputy Juanita Martinez
** Will your "Political Papi" Mayor Antonio Parkervillar, stand by you, in your bid for re election?
Your thoughts..............
Scott Johnson in CD 14

I've had it with the harrassment of YOUR elected officials Red Spot.

I live in the District, and I'm voting FOR Huizar because if anyone is being a pain in the ass, and acting like a child, it's you.

If you want change, then get the voters to change their behavior. Right now, I'm going to be with Huizar.

Happy now? It's tiring and laborious to deal with these incessant, childish posts. You come across as juvenile. BTW I agree that Huizar is a slug, but this is a vote AGAINST YOU.

Jackie Autry and Autry CEO John Gray really made Antonio Villaraigosa and Jose Huizar look like fools in cooking up the fake grass roots "fundraising group" to restore the Southwest Museum called "The Southwest Society". The Mayor, Councilmember and Autry called all of these press people to a photo op to announce that the Southwest Society would raise money to assure the museum building is restored.

That was fall 2007, almost three years ago. The list of people who lent their names and credibility to the Autry included Jenny Kruso, Art Nodal, Paula Starr and others. If you want to know who the political brown noses are in Northeast Los Angeles, be sure to Google "the Southwest Society." These are the political ass kissers of the Northeast.

In the end, the Southwest Society did not raise any money at all. It was a political embarrassment to both the Mayor and Councilmember Huizar. A failure group for the Failure Mayor.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the Autry: You made the Mayor look foolish for supporting the Autry's Big Lie that it intended to restore the Southwest Museum as an education and cultural center.

After the Autry lost its expansion project before City Council, it made it very clear that it never intended to carry out the promise of the Southwest Society. Autry simply played the ass kissers for the fools that they are.

Will Huizar continue the Southwest Society? Uhh, doubtful.

I think all of the points and questions are valid ones.
Problem is we'll never get a truthful answer to any of them except maybe the CLARTS issue, if it's legally forced.

I don't know what your beef is. You sound very juvenile and petulant.

It would be disingenuous of me if I didn't say, although you are myopic and overly fixated on Huizar, you did a great job on that compilation list. Did you come up with that yourself? I imagine a bunch of you in a room with a note pad. Either way, good for re-election time. And funny. Can add "most confused during the vote" to "laziest."

In the many posting that you compare Art Snyder with the likes of Alatorre and Huizar....you cannot compare Art Snyder with any of these people...

Everyone that live in the 14th council district know that Art Snyder was the only council member to have take care of his constituents. Anyone who disagrees is either in denial or just plain ignorant of history.

While I do not support Huizar, I sure will not support Martinez who has no experience in the community and seems to run for this office only to settle an old fight with an ex buddy...

I don't know if Rudy is running to settle an old fight with an ex-buddy, or not? But that would be a better reason that Huizar's, which is to try to get away with as much as he can.

What Huizar is in for is a rude awakening. To the haters who always seem to attack the messenger many Huizar constituents who voted for Sleazy Hizzy have had enough. Its like when the Bell residents got fed up with the corruption. Take a ride through CD14 and you will see the diritiest of all districts citywide. Huizar is so unknown at every event he goes to he has his poor young staffers put up his huge banner with his photo. Does any other councilmember do that? I don't think so. Huizar is just as corrupt as the Mayor. His ties to Zacartecas and his support for the illegals have given the senior citizens and residents a big fight to jump on the Rudy Martinez bandwagon. You don't need experience to be a council member. Just look at the mess the council members in office have made of our city. I say the new candidates can only do better compared to the mess Huizar has made.

Voting for the incumbent (Huizar) just to spite Red Spot or any poster is a welcome view that Jose will love.

Forget his lack of merit for a re-election and his slippery accounting that being too long in office has allowed him to practice.

Recall the $3,000 bill for the trip he spent for the Princeton reunion and billed the city - only later to be caught among many in the council who "pad" the expense account.

That report noted Jose reimbursed the city for that $3,000, an admission of that "impropriety" that is also called theft. AND he paid up only AFTER he was caught, or you can be sure no change would have happened.

Jose also will use tax money to send out glossy flyers on 4th of July fireworks shows- who is paying for that? How much of any show or activity comes from HIS MONEY?

It's taxpayer money financing this sneaky campaigning for term 3- look for more of "Jose Huizar Presents...." to be mailed, posted or emailed to all before that March city election.

And this is only a small part of his problem.

Prediction: Look for Jose to decline all debate invitations- or maybe "don't look for Jose" since there an empty suit, nothing that will get him a "plus" but lots to hurt his campaign, like his benefactor, Tony Villaraigosa.

So voting for another Huizar term is perpetuating dishonesty and lack of transparency- also a Villaraigosa trademark.

.... and why is being "former President of the LAUSD Board of Education" viewed as any postive campaign item? THAT should have been the kiss of death for a politician, but enough voters are too shallow to notice the underlying significance.

Joseph I like the parodies too! I have to admit though yes the blog is a little weak these days but I'm doing 90% of the writing and between work and personal matters my time for writing is limited to about 1 hour a day. I know it's suffering; Joe and I working to find some addition writers.

That being said I'm amazed that traffic is where it's at. Per Google here is the latest:

Pageviews today (@ 10:15 AM)
870
Pageviews yesterday
1,671
Pageviews last month
45,499

So we're still getting decent traffic. Interestingly our number one referrer is Ron Kaye's blog. After that it's a Google search for "Mayor Sam"

NO, Huizar will not debate. He owns too many people in the community and he doesnt have to debate. Just like last election. He can buy votes away.

Rudy better get busy...people are saying Rudy is the biggest secret CD14 ever had. Lets hear more from Rudy.

Is there anyone else who is a candidate for CD14?

9:52AM,

I think the people in this district are MORONS because they keep electing corrupt gangstas in $1,000 suits.

Once they wise up, the representation will be better and Red Snot can take English as a Second Language (ESL). I have no idea what his first language is.

I think you're the one who's ignorant of history.

Art Snyder not only faced recall TWICE, but was later assessed the largest ethics fines in the HISTORY (there's that word, again) of the City -- for influence peddling, and all to line his own pockets.

If he's your hero re: local leaders, shoot yourself now, Dude.

I'd rather be "in denial" than drinking that man's corrupt polluted kool-aid. He makes Huizar look like Snow White (and yes, Huizar's staffers are all intellectual "dwarfs").

Why the double standard, Rid Spoot?

I was a supporter of Nick Pacheco's at the time, but I sure don't recall ol' Nick ever telling anyone how he spent CLARTS money, while in office. And, I'd bet a week's crappy paycheck he wouldn't have been any more forthcoming with those details, if asked.

In between, Tony V., while pretending to be the CD14 councilmember, was too busy running for mayor to even try and spend any CLARTS funds, so they just sat there while he "fiddled" with his own private violin.

I think it's safe to assume everyone in that position - past, present, future - pretty much uses those funds like any "discretionary" funds -- at their DISCRETION. Usually to reward the people and groups workng in the areas he agrees with, and that support his positions. It's called the "spoils" system.

Better that than going into the general fund for all of the councilmembers to ripoff. At least the benefits have to stay in CD14.

Here's a HUGE question for you, though. Have you ever gone to talk with Huizar and asked him to spend CLARTS money for something YOU think would be good for your comunity, and then had him say "no"?

I'll bet not -- just bitch, bitch, bitch, but take no real action except grandstanding.

Paper tiger; no teeth.

I am positive that they have better food at a geriatric home. Jarred baby food also is a better choice. It is quite possible that they copied recipes from Denny's down the street, and poorly so too.

My experience was not helped by the horrid service. The "manager" Rudy was half meter maid and half douche-bag. Explain that metaphor, you ask? Well, he is someone with a tiny smidge of power and he let's it go to his fat greasy balding head.

My gal pal and I were waiting at the bar for friends. We were eating our food when he interrupted us. Pause here for a moment...

He saw us and swooped in. It was my first time meeting someone who lacks any self-awareness. I've seen it in movies and heard about it about in Urban Myths.
Allow me to elaborate. He stands behind the bar serving drinks and offers to buy one my girlfriend. She thanks him but gently declines. He insists that she takes a shot with him. She accepts begrudgingly. About 5 minutes later he returns to ask for her number.

Wait, perhaps I need to help set the scene a bit more here. Picture if you will: A short porky sweaty (yuck) balding man in his late 40s is hitting on my girlfriend who just turned 21, really cute and is obviously not interested.

Back to the story, he comes back later and asks for her number, she says that she is flattered but not interested. He continues to press the issue by telling her that she didn't have a problem taking a free drink, why should she have a problem giving him her number. I chimed in that, "Although the shot was tough to choke down, the thought of dating him was something that we she would never be able to stomach."

At this point he walked away. Pissed.

About 5 minutes later, the rest of our party arrived and we wanted to get seated. Rudy whispers something to the wait staff and we are all told that they are out of food and that we need to leave. I guess in the 10 minutes after Rudy's ego got bruised he must have drowned his sorrows in that night's food inventory.

I think that I have said enough...

I have to say this is getting so old already, I can't wait for this silly election is over! IT'S NOT ABOUT THE VOTERS... It's all about the candidates and their egos, right boys?

Martinez FINALLY has a website up, about time! But quite honestly it might have been better that he never went to the trouble, I read the content as I read that flyer he put out and it is unreal the lies that this man has the nerve to print on paper!!!

This is the actual text from his website, under the section The Choice is Clear:

I’ve heard the concerns of voters, and I’m ready to bring positive change, starting with how I treat the people of the 14th District and the public trust that goes with the office of City Councilmember.

Here is my pledge:

I will listen to the residents and business owners of the 14th District and work hard each and every day, with their needs and the following principles as my guide:

• Fiscal Responsibility - We simply must change how our city’s finances are handled

• Personal Accountability - Elected officials should never be above voters

• Public Transparency - The public has a right to regular updates on how their City Councilmember spends the funds and uses other resources controlled by the office

• Real Access - We will never realize true cooperation until the voices of all constituents count and our City Councilmember leads a staff that is ready and willing to work as hard as the residents and business owners of the 14th District each and every day

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE FOOLING??? GIVE ME AND THE REST OF CD 14 RESIDENTS A BREAK!

Here's my experience with you... your "dealings" in real estate have caused me and my family to lose our home. That amazing variable loan to set up for, is what probably paid for that flashy car you drive. SO NO MARTINEZ, YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE.

PRINCIPALS? Do you know the meaning of the word, you wouldn't have principles even if they were printed on your forehead.

You are no where near being a councilmember and you already act as though you are better than everyone else.

You do not deserve to be in office, and who ever votes for you will regret it. The only difference between you and Huizar is that he's an EDUCATED thief.

So if my choices are: good for nothing Princeton grad vs reality tv "star" from the hood, guess who I'm voting for?

Than you Red, all the nonsense you write has just made it so much easier for me to accept that Huizar is going to sit in office for 4 years more.
