A former Kentucky Fried Chicken store turned into a medical marijuana dispensary is back in business after closing down previously. It's legal status under the City's new law regulating prescription pot is unclear. No word on if you have a choice of regular or extra crispy canabis.
Mario Obledo, a distinguished Latino civil rights leader who was an early advocate for Hispanics has died at the age of 78. Obledo fought discrimination in his native Texas and later became Secretary of Health and Welfare under Jerry Brown. I met Mr. Obledo in 1982 when I volunteered for his campaign for governor, which he lost the nomination to Tom Bradley. In later years Obledo moved to the left but was honored for his work by President Clinton.

I LIKE THIS BLOG MAYOR SAM, but you tend to mail-in your end of the week Hot sheets. This 3x murder has a huge political connetion, and should not have escaped your notice.
Oh come on Higby, "Carmen the Clown?' That's MT's term of endearment for our beloved City Attorney, you've got to come up with something better than that. How about 'No Shit Nuch?' It does have a ring to it, don't you think?
You also should use a better byline as it wasn't Nuch who declined to prosecute the crap dumper(s), but one of his lazy assed deputies who doesn't know shit from shinola. According to the Times, Nuch has reversed that decision and will prosecute the RV driver as well as the woman who dumped 100 gallons of shit, piss and toilet paper on the streets of Venice.
But the real story here, is how on earth a deputy city attorney could decline to prosecute the dumper in the first place. The excuse offered was that the woman did not have a criminal record, but that's bullshit. Does that mean that as long as I don't have a record I get a free first felony?
No, something stinks in the Venice branch of the City Attorney's Office, and it isn't just the watery brown fluid coming out of RV's.
That's a laugh riot...the disabled fireman's fund.
Everyone should donate so those poor firemen. You know, the guys retired at 48 due to some vague rotator cuff problem and living out in Tehachapi on $120k tax-free.
They need new jet-skis. Every penny counts.

7:27am, Speaking of Jack "Pretty Boy" Weiss, has anyone noticed that former campaign manager for the disgraced former poster boy for corruption in politics, Averil "Ace" Smith, is now fucking up Kamala Harris's campaign to be Attorney General?
Yes, and true to form, Averil is running a smear campaign for Harris. He's calling for Cooley to "write a check" to return campaign contributions from a federal felon called "Gill" that were made in, wait for it, 2003.
Of course, Averil is something of an expert on returning campaign contributions. While he was shilling for Pretty Boy Weiss, NBC broke the "Laundered Elections" scandal showing that Pretty Boy and most other Clowncil 'Members' had received thousands of dollars in illegal campaign contributions from Alan Casden's employees and contractors. Most returned the contributions, but Weiss refused to, and guess what, Averil defended Pretty Boy's position.
So is Averil suffering from dementia, or is it just another example of the democrat mantra of 'do as I say, not as I do.'
As for your comments about 'No-Shit Nuch,' I agree. The guy is awesome!

Higby you missed the boat on the Venice dump dumper. The dump dumper actually spent two days in jail.
Councilman Bill Rosendahl did nothing for six days. It wasn't until the City Attorney found out about this situation that he dropped the hammer on this RV nuisance who couldn't give a shit.
Trutanich should be applauded for his immediate tough action. He's the best thing we have down at City Hall.

You dismiss as absurd that Cooley should return laundered funds from an earlier campaign -- while Cooley's insisting the campaign fund is closed, end of story, and he won't write a personal check like your Republican teabagger hacks insisted Weiss and others (fully half the Council and City attorney, including Janice Hahn, Smith and others caught unawares) "return" money to accounts the Ethics Commission deemed closed.
But Carmen the Clown, Cooley's puppet who doesn't take a breath without his permission and the Republican consultant John Thomas and Shallman, nonetheless ran a shameful smear campaign insisting that Weiss write a personal check anyway.

I'm no fan of Flip Flop Rosendahl, but blaming HIM for "not doing anything" earlier to keep the dumper in the clinker while absolving and praising Trutanich who was in charge of the office for reversing the decision AFTER the shit (pun intended) hit the political fan, is truly pathetic. I volunteered on Obledo's campaign when I was in high school. I believe I was referred to him by one of my teachers.
Obledo lost the primary and then I did some volunteering for Tom Bradley in the general election. And he was the first person I ever voted for for Governor.

11:59am's right. Kamala Harris is squealing like a stuck pig. Her local rag ragged on her 55% conviction rate as SF's DA, and polls show her trailing Cooley by 15 points, with a lot of democrats saying "no way."
Harris is "the Female Obama" as Gwen Ifill described her, and that explains her poor poll figures more than her disgusting record and gutter ethics.
10:28, Rumpole is back at the DA's office after his stint of being rewarded for being an attack dog for Trutanich. But the guy's got his own personal demons that keep him vindictive - maybe the CA's office just didn't want the liability of having him do it AS a top deputy there. His appearances on radio shows as well as blogs must have gotten VERY embarrassing coming from someone ludicrously named to head up "ethics!"
Berger's very recent "article"/ diatribe for CityWatch still "creaming over Carmen" and spreading his bizarrely biased lies of "what Weiss would have done" in his place case in point.
He'd done his nasty work with the complicit if not explicit support of Clown Carmen and his puppetmaster Cooley, freeing them from having to say the stuff in their own words but getting it out there. After all, not only did he NEVER get a slapdown but was very publicly and brazenly rewarded. Until.
Clearly from the tone of this directed against Kamala the tone of personal vindictiveness which took Trutanich's campaign into the gutter is pervasive of the teabag/ pedro even Kaye Krowd and Klan. As well as pre-Hiatus Mayor Sam. Which has toned down SOMEWHAT, though yesterday's nutty diatribe against Chf. Bratton shows the tendency is dormant, not dead. Kind of like Rumpole/ Berger, who comes back from the catacombs in his own ways.
