Rut-Roh! Fresh from getting a pass from the Justice Department for his pink panties treatment of prisoners, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio may have gone all Rizzo on us and misspent $80 million dollars of taxpayer money pegged for jail operations on lavish trips abroad, hotel upgrades, and huge restaurant tabs!
Where's that partisan outrage?
-Meg Whitman has stopped spending money long enough to follow tightwad Jerry Brown's lead in finally announcing her opposition to Proposition 23, the Big Oil/Koch Bros backed bill that would put the brakes on AB32. She's against Prop 23....sort of....as long as she can suspend implementation of AB32 until all the bad guys can find a legal loophole to get around it.
Speaking of the Tea Party Puppetmasters, Senatorial candidate Carly Fiorina finds herself in a cozy relationship with the Koch siblings after they sponsored a fundraiser for her in Washington yesterday to help raise funds from the many special interest lobbyists that are looking for a friendly doormat should she win in November.
LA County Supes are stepping up and doing what the state should have done some time ago. Foam containers for food and drinks are being banned at "most county facilities, including restaurants, catering trucks, hospitals, golf courses and concessions" After a trial period, an expansion of the ban will be considered. Plastic Bags next, we hope?

Your disappointment in the Hot Sheet, should be focused on Joe B. who appears to have taken over that job.
So let me add my assessment.

Since Joe rarely responds to questions, let me generally respond to his Arpaio story and say that people aren't outraged because it's an ALLEGED misuse. Not proven. But alleged. That difference doesn't matter to Joe B., but it explains the lack of outrage.
On that note, even the figure of $80mm is ridiculous. Do you know how many YEARS it would take to spend $80mm on UPGRADES for hotels and airfare? That's why his suggestion, already known to be highly biased, is questionable.
I could see looting and misappropriation of funds, but that's not what Joe B. is suggesting. He says it is being done on things like hotel and airline upgrades.
$80mm? Yeah, right.

Take a look at Phil Jennerjahn's blog. He goes out of his way to talk about HIS experience at the Meg Whitman event, including an immature photo of his name tag.
The problem is that Phil failed to report the fireworks when NJ Governor Chris Christie took on a heckler and got a huge ovation.
In fact, that confrontation is all over the cable news channels.
So either Phil thinks that HE is more important than that news, or Phil went to eat and get a silly photo of his name tag, and didn't stay to LISTEN TO THE SUBSTANCE OF WHATEVER WAS DISCUSSED.
Phil, if you're reading this, how in the world did you miss the Chris Christie confrontation with the heckler, who happened to be a Whitman supporter?
Why didn't you report that?
Or didn't you stay to listen to the discussion?
You referred to Gov. Christie the other day as a "rock star," which I agree with. So how did you miss the only part of the event that is being reported everywhere?
And why didn't you give your normally childish report on what assortment of food that they have. That always gave me a laugh, as "noone" in the world would care about that information.
That's what I love about reading your blog once in a while. Your perspective is shockingly out of touch, like your actually thinking that Steve Cooley arrested the Bell 8 because you think he got the idea from your blog, rather than you predicting the OBVIOUS, that they'd be arrested.
I guess you missed the novel point that the District Attorney would actually do his job and arrest people even though he didn't read your blog. You can be sure that Steve Cooley hasn't a clue about who you are. Fool.
P.J. O'Rourke has a great new book called "Don't Vote! It only encourages the bastards!"
He says that the exodus in the White House is a good thing. "Obama is losing a mean guy (Rahm Emmanuel) and a grouchy guy (Laurence Summers)."
O'Rourke indicates that while he's losing a lousy guy and grouchy guy, that he is losing intelligent guys and they're going to be hard to replace, and even if it's a good chance, it looks like he is losing control of his administration.
Personally I find it hard to believe without knowing he is going to bring in as replacements, but I do agree that it APPEARS that BHO is losing control.
Just my two cents.
I just saw a Carly Fiorina for Senate ad in which we see Barbara Boxer dressing down that General.
It's really a disgrace. Boxer never explained her arrogant dressing down of the General. I voted for her ever since I turned 18. I can't vote for that type of arrogance, or any arrogance for that matter, ever again.
Joe, what is the deal with your super-amplified negativity toward anything & everything Republican?
Are you incapable of saying anything positive toward Whitman or, for that matter, negative about Brown?
Every time I check in to this blog, if I see total anger and inflexibilty, I don't need to scroll down to see that it was written by you. It's usually clear after a few sentences.
What is up with the left wing trying to attack democracy?
The Koch family of companies is not allowed to put THEIR wealth into campaigns against proposals they have ALWAYS disagreed with, but liberals like Soros, Spielberg, Streisand etc. are free to spend their millions? Let's not forget the unions who spend the millions of others.

Benito, while you're on top of this. Why don't you investigate how the O(NO) White House got access to the tax records of a private entity- Koch.
Benito just remember one thing about our govt. You let them remove or violate the rights of one group, you're giving them the right to one day take away your rights.
You asked "Where's that partisan outrage"? See the difference between Conservatives, republicans and Liberal Democrats is right now it's an allegation. It's not been proven and we understand that the DOJ and the anti-American crew AKA Progressive/Liberal/Democrats are out to get Joe for defending the rule of law. IF/WHEN the allegation is proven, you will see some outrage. IF it's unfounded, then you will feel the outrage.
I was going to vote for Boxer but she screwed up supporting the Dream Act. Now, I'm hearing a lot of my friends saying they're not voting for her either. The crimes of the city officials in Bell are only alleged, yet you have to admit that you're outraged.
It is outrage over charges that often forces the investigation that leads to convictions.
The DA knew about the high salaries in Bell, but for how long? It wasn't until the Times broke the story and outrage followed that arrests were made.
There's nothing wrong with outrage over not being told the truth.

Mayor Sam, I would like to suggest that you invite Phil Jennerjahn to write for the blog. I've become a big fan of his blog, The Jennerjahn Report. Phil is a captivating storyteller - check out his latest blog about meeting Meg Whitman, for example. (A mysterious woman gets Phil into the restricted fifth floor of Hollywood & Highland where the plot unfolds. In the end we never learn what becomes of the mystery woman.) When you read Phil's stories, you always want to know what comes next! By sheer, innocent luck he ends up behind the scenes time and again, guiding the reader with narratives that are both sweet and personal, while ribbing his opponents along the way without being ugly. One gets the sense that Phil pours good intention into everything. He's impossible to dislike, even if you disagree with his politics - which I often do. Please consider it, Mayor Sam. Phil is just the kind of writer your blog needs.

Isn't it a riot that Phil posted a photo of his name tag because HE knows, that WE know, that he is such a bullshitter.
I keep writing that Phil hasn't bamboozled us so many times, but getting caught virtually every time, that he needs photographic evidence from now on because we all know he's full of it.
