Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Friday

While the battle between Carmen Trutanich, Jan Perry and AEG over the expense of the City for the memorial service for Michael Jackson continues one Los Angeles resident has stepped up in a unique way.  Jose F. Vallejo has filed a $3.3 million lawsuit against the Jackson estate claiming as a taxpayer he has standing to make the case.  Should Vallejo be successful any judgment awarded by the Court would go to the City general fund.

SLAP happy plan checking NIMBYs in Los Angeles go apoplectic over billboard advertising but the City of West Hollywood is considering a plan that might put a little cha-ching into the City coffers.  The owner of a building on Beverly Boulevard is offering WeHo $20K a month for the next twenty years, as well as some free public improvements, to hang supergraphics on two sides of the property.

Here's yet another boondoggle the City is considering - putting a park over the 101 Freeway through Hollywood.  Just to speak to the cost is one thing, the safety is a bigger issue.  If the park goes Nimitz Freeway in the next big earthquake or little kids get cancer from diesel fumes who is going to pay?

Here's yet another rumor from an extremely reliable source.  Southern California ICE spokesflack Virginia Kice allegedly employed an illegal immigrant for years but fired her upon getting the ICE job. Shades of the Clinton cabinet!

Jay Leno may be coming back to late night, perhaps even to the Tonight Show.  With Leno's 10 pm show performing poorly in ratings, as well as the Conan O'Brien Tonight Show, NBC TV affiliates are screaming bloody murder.  Daily Variety reports NBC has confirmed that Leno has been offered either a half hour show at 11:35 daily or to just take the Tonight Show back.

The citizens lawsuit over the Jackson Memorial is a publicity stunt that will go no further. The real question is why Trutanich is taking so long with this?

Jan Perry is going around like a street person asking for 'spare change' to get 'donations' to cover up her responsibility for wasting enough taxpayer money to cover 10% of the budget deficit. By the time Trutanich get through putting together a case against her, she'll be in Zurich with Roman Polanski.

Good stuff Michael. The reason why so many newspapers are losing subscriptions is because of the spin they give the politicans. Yesterday the Daily Breeze printed the story of the Mayor's gang programs training academy costing $200,00 to start training. In the story yesteday they included all the arrests of former gang members who ran some of those programs. Today all has been deleted off their websites and even the LA Slimes Phil Willon didn't include this vital info when reporting in today's. This is why people are turning to the internet for news. LA reporters are the worst in the country.
This is what was from yesterday's paper """"""Last year, the city terminated a contract with the gang intervention agency Unity T.W.O. for allegedly failing to account for hundreds of millions of dollars in government money. In August 2009, the executive director of another gang intervention agency, Homies Unidos, was arrested on federal racketeering and conspiracy charges. In January 2009, a gang intervention worker once praised as model of reform was charged with robbing a well-known rapper at the Universal City Hilton.""""

Mr. Vallejo should actually have filed against AEG.

I'm considering following his lead.
Someone needs to keep these freedom-hating liberals on the Council in check as to their actual powers.

Someone should file suit over the cat-declawing idiocy created by Socialist Paul Koretz.

It's unconstitutional, unenforceable and a major encroachment into personal freedom.

A city government that tells you you can't get your cat declawed does not understand its limits and has absolutely no business being at the controls of power.

This is just one example of a citizen revolt because the city council will not do their jobs, or protect tax payer funds.

If the city council and their staffs had to pay for the Michael Jackson memorial out of their salaries, they'd probably be taking a much different posture.

Phil saying "I might follow his lead" is A FUCKING RIOT!

Phil, you have no more credibility since you took nearly a year to admit that you didn't gather a SINGLE signature for the Recall Antonio Villaraigosa campaign.

Not one.

Say whatever the hell you want. You have zero credibility to see things to a successful conclusion, other than winning the Mayor Sam Ass Clown 2009 award.

You couldn't finish law school, even though it was in your best interest to do so.

You couldn't finish or even start the recall campaign, even though you promised you would.

You refused to admit that you bit off more than you could chew

You finished in last place in the Mayor's race.

You backed the loser Chris Essel.

And now you think you can get people to believe that you can follow someone else's lead SINCE THEY'VE ALREADY TAKEN THE INITIATIVE?

Honestly, does anyone know Phil's IQ?

The man takes on everything. The man completes nothing. The man just wants to run again for another campaign, another effort, and just have something to say at his 25th high school reunion which should be this year.

But it's your childish behavior toward Krekorian, and that even more infantile cowboy hat that really exposes that you are a seven year old boy in a grown up failure's body.

Now go put on your costume and sell cotton candy at Six Flags.

Hey, where is Parque. Tell him Huizar finally had the press conference this morning offering $50,000. Cops don't like Huizar and were livid they were asked to be part of Huizar's photo op this morning.

Oh Phil, you really are unfit for any public office.

Legislation such as the declawing ban are based upon things called "factual findings". These facts, drawn from experts in felines and their proper care, show that declawing is a form of cruelty to animals.

Council made the findings in support of the legislation.

The ordinance is not some violation international human rights to declaw your cat as you make it sound. Or that somehow this is a mark of "freedom hating liberals."

Let me tell you what is really "freedom hating": the Patriot Act. That is legislation passed Dr. Strangelove Chaney based upon his own delusions about the world. It restricted and continues to restrict real freedoms in this country. It's the Republican Party, and especially the mentally deranged Tea Baggers, who hate freedom.

West Hollywood ALREADY has a deal on Sunset Blvd, 9000 Sunset, that's a 10-story supergraphic - right on the border of Beverly Hills and a few feet from the hills of Los Angeles city which start right ABOVE Sunset Blvd.

THAT deal is earning West Hollywood TENS OF THOUSANDS A MONTH, not the few hundred a year IF the companies even pay that which Rocky gave them by alloowing them to convert to supergraphics for the same money.

The WeHo supergrahic is so huge and so bright, it shines miles uphill and in all directions, ruining the views and tranquility of the L A residents in multi- miullion dollar "view homes."

But are they mobilized against this, concerned with We Ho putting up more of these all over as well as down the strip, and also planning to build on Sunset Blvd. giant hotel/condo/retail/ night club complexes;, turning the street into even more gridlock? It's already a parking lot during most of the day and night. No, these Homeowner Assns and the Bel Air Beverly Crest Assn. whose leaders fight every single thing in l A, are totally MUTE.

WeHo is ALSO planning to build an "extensive dvelopment" on the corner of Santa Monica/La Brea, next to the giant box store and Target, BevMo etc in the mall already there. Right across the street from where fanatical idiot Lucille Saunders and her La Brea Coalition have fought to have their dilapidated building redone.

Guess what?

West Hollywood has the money for extensive social services, largely for seniors and gays, and is redoing its parks.

West Hollywood is repaving Sunset Blvd. - more gridlock for 1 1/2 years while they close lanes - but when cash-strapped LA TRIED to do the right thing and repave part of W. Sunset in Brentwood, the residents were up in arms and wimpy Bill Rosenthal caved, canceled the repaving. The north/ gutter side destroys your tires and cars, is so bad drivers avoid it, but NIMBYs rule in L A.

And ONLY self-destructive stupid NIMBYs, while WeHo laughs at us and builds and rakes in money and fixes streets, parks and creates senior community centers.

The retarded L A Slimes, which backed their puppet Vahedi for City Council (put forth by the same group who backed Trutanich) NEVER puts this in perspective, especially David Zahniser acting as mouthpiece for the angry L A NIMBYs.

Can't say I'm sorry the Slimes is shrinking and disappearing. BUT meanwhile here's a story you should note, Higby: they're closing their OC printing plant, meaning more lost jobs. Fewer presses mean fewer paper editions, and they're turning over use of LATE presses to the Wall Street Journal's CA version, a subscription service, for some $bucks, so late breaking news will no longer make the LA Times next morning. You can still get L A Slimes late news online, but that doesn't generate as much revenue.
With their loss of credibility, having veered from the left to being a rightwing slime organ for Trutanich and tried to do same for Essel, they've lost advertisers een more. So the spiral goes. Down, down.

Certainly "Mulholland Terrace" will drink a few mimosas when they disappear for good.

The only elected official who made any noise about Jan Perry making a $3.4M gift of taxpayers money to her campaign supporters gets ridiculed for doing the right thing, and a bunch of morons start thinking they can somehow resurrect Jack Weiss - the despised corrupt paradigm of all that is wrong with LA.

I actually voted for Trutanich before I joined the Lemmings who now condemn him for daring to stand up for the residents of LA.

12:10 moron, "Joe Citizen" doesn't have a legal leg to stand on and neither does Tritanich, but a BIG difference is that HE is supposed to KNOW and follow the LAW. NOT BULLY AT WHIM TO GRANDSTAND to dummies like you.

Meanwhile - Fisbbowl L A has a story today, "Is the LA Weekly Saying Sorry to Medical Marijuana?" noting it's after months of bashing the likes of Reyes, claiming he's a puppet of Don Duncan who Tritanich and Berger have singled out for "investigation" after USING HIM very intentionally to get elected, alleging he'd be MORE favorable to the pro-pot people than Weiss. (Laura Chick, meet Don Duncan.)

The Weekly's got a general pro- legalization article feature by a NEW WRITER totally unlike Patrick Range McDonald or Dennis Romero. FACING the pages of medical pot ads which are the Weekly's bread and butter. Fishbowl surmises that the ad boycott promised by the pot shops and docs just MIGHT have something to do with it.

It's a very general article though not focused on the city except in passing, more on the prevailing winds (pun intended) in the state.

But it doesn't take a genie to realize FALSETanich as Cooley's puppet is on the WRONG side of the voting public here, trying to criminalize all patients and pot shops.

On top of prison overcrowding so REAL prisoners are being released - these two Clowns have tried to turn this into a Cooley Campaign Staple and it's backfiring, like Polanski will (for wasting so much money on him while DNA kits and rapists on our streets now are ignored.)

One of Cooley's former Asst. DA's has a retribution case against him that's wound its way all the way up to the Supreme Court of the US, which will decide this week whether or not to hear it. If it does, FINALLY an end to his ways.

Even if not any savvy opponent will milk it and the suit against him by the whole current dept. of his Asst. DA's for preventing them from forming a union to defend themselves against his persecution of those who don't play his way.
This man cannot be allowed to win. He's got so many enemies in the know willing to come out against him, he'd be smart to find an excuse to retire now.

Smart of you to go with the lemmings now. Really. He's only pretending to stand up for the residents of LA. The only thing most people have in common with him is his stance against billboards. I have long been against billboards so I'm on board.

This medical marijuana rant is driving me out of my mind. I think that there are much bigger fish to fry and I would never give in to valley homeowners on that issue. Even the federal government wants local governments to ease up on the marijuana growers/clinics. Even the Daily News said (something like this but not word for word) that it was pathetic that people are not getting smarter sooner than they did during prohibition on alcohol. And what is the city council getting ready to vote on next week that makes them believe that the clinics will be closed forever. I don't follow the story locally, but I wish we could just get the tax revenue. There are several of the clinics in my neighborhood and I've never even seen anyone enter them but I did hear that there was a vote coming up this week and that the city council believes it will shut them all down.

I guess I could go read about it, but I'd rather someone just sum it up for me right here. This story is entitled Hotsheet so this must be a hot story.

5:18PM, I'm against billboards and marijuana shops, so I guess Trutanich does represent me.

The City Council will be debating an ordinance to cut the number of marijuana shops down to 70 instead of the 850 that now exist.

I expect that potato head Paul Koretz and 'El Stupido' Ed Reyes to be the angriest voices at the clampdown on marijuana shops.

Reyes has a lot to cover up having been asleep at the wheel for 4 years while he 'considered' how to regulate marijuana shops, and did nothing.

Koretz, on the other hand, is sore from being called a fool by the LA Times who pointed out that it was Koretz who wrote AB420, the State law on marijuana, and the Times said his law was confusing.

Both Koretz and Reyes are the biggest pair of jokers around City Hall these days, as they try to blame Trutanich for 'politicizing' the issue, but everyone in LA agrees, the marijuana shops are out of control and it's time to do something about it.

It seems that it's only Trutanich who has the guts to stand up and represent the people of Los Angeles, while Koretz and Reyes stand up for the drug dealers who run most of the marijuana shops.

5:18pm "There are several of the clinics in my neighborhood and I've never even seen anyone enter them but I did hear that there was a vote coming up this week and that the city council believes it will shut them all down. "

The reason why you "never see anyone enter" is probably because their busiest times are when everyone else is at work. The afternoon appears to be the busiest time on Melrose. That's when the addicts wake up and need their fix.

The city council is not going to "shut them all down," but rather, limit the number to 70 and make sure they are not next to schools, parks, rehab centers and libraries.

There are 1,000 marijuana shops currently doing business in LA. Oakland has 4. San Francisco has 24. The Los Angeles City Council has been acting like a constipated duck while more and more marijuana shops open - there were 186 in 2007, and most people thought that was too many.

Now, mostly because that little egomaniac, Ed Reyes, was too stupid to realize he was being fed misinformation by the marijuana shop owners association, there are even more.

Whether you believe in legalization or not, there has to be some control over marijuana sales. Even the most liberal of cities have been able to do that. But Ed Reyes is a stubborn moron who takes any criticism as a personal insult and is trying to derail the process.

Cooley's pit bulls Carter lied about the Chick pro bono issue and Jane Usher boldly lied in council that Brown said on KFI he agreed with Cooley- Trutanich when in fact, she quoted from a rightwing commentator's wrong summary of Brown's remarks.

Fact is that Brown's paper on the pot issue last August, like the court rulings, have been confusing but Trutanuch blog shills only try to bash Koretz and Reyes who in fact, are relying and trying to make sense of the law in a way that also respects realities of patients and the will of the people who voted for Prop 215.

Cooley and Trutanich think that by kissing Brown's butt he'll support Cooley in his bid for AG and let his flunkie Trutanich try for DA, but they're dreaming. Brown sees them for the fascists they are and will never expose himself to the ridicule of the moderates let alone the progressive Democrats.

When you have all the Asst DA's in your office suing you, and one of them has his persecution case vs. Cooley pending all the way up at the Supreme Court, there's so much dirt and so many angry people with too many facts that finally even the Slimes can't bury it. Knowing that birdbrain Janice Hahn will side with them again without having the slightest clue what she's babbling about, knowing Bill Rosendahl will again flip-flop on the spot, that they'll throw Koretz and Reyes under the bus without a thought, and that this City has no coherent public policy as it goes broke.

At the rate he's going he'll be telling us that he actually won the election only to have it stolen by Cooley, Baca and Bratton who 'lost' thousands of votes from elderly retirement home voters.

As usual Jack's wrong about Trutanich and Cooley hating Ed Reyes and Paul Koretz. The shoe is on the other foot, or feet. Reyes is pissed off because the LA Times and the LA Weekly both published articles showing Reyes to be an incompetent bumbling fool who doesn't understand that city ordinances cannot change state law. Reyes is also deeply humiliated by the revelation in the LA Weekly, that he was fooled into proposing an amendment to the ordinance written by Don Duncan who was actually a pot shop owner and also running a nice little side business as a consultant to pot shop owners. Imagine how foolish that little prick Reyes must have felt when the LA Weekly revealed his incompetence.

As for Mr. Potato Head (Paul Koretz) he hates Cooley and Trutanich because they've outed him as the bungling architect of AB420, a law that the LA Times called 'confusing,' and one that prohibits the pot shop owners from being anything other than soviet-style 'cooperatives' or 'collectives.'

Jack also fucks up when he tries to defend Jerry Brown's opinion on marijuana sales. Brown's opinion was written in August, but it was BEFORE the Supreme Court decided the Mentch case which ruled that pot shops cannot sell pot. It was also before the Hemp Factory case which is the most recent summation of the law as it is, not as Jack, Ed and Paul would like it to be.

Sadly for Jack and his new boss Rocky Delgadillo, Jerry Brown IS going to endorse Steve Cooley for AG and Trutanich is not going to run for DA but stay put in LA where he can continue to piss off the left wing whiners by doing his job.

Face it, liberal democrats have as much of a chance of being elected to anything, as a snowball in hell. The Obama honeymoon is over. The liberal democrat farce over their mishandling of the Underpants Bomber, including charging him as a criminal instead of a terrorist, was the worst decision these left wing wackos could have made. Before Eric Holder gave him criminal rights, UB was singing like a bird about what was going on in Yemen. Now that he has a taxpayer funded defense attorney, he's saying nothing. Other than being the Heroes of the Stupid it's over. The entire Reign of Terror and Hatred Nuch has brought to L A is soon over. Ding Dong with a bucke of cold water the Witch is Dead.

I thought the FREEDOM OF THE PRESS means that the PRESS should not be AFRAID OR INTIMIDATED to print the FACTS, but instead elect to censor the TRUTH. That is why there are no longer called REPORTERS who reported the FACTS and are now referred to as JOURNALISTS because the journalists reveal bias opinions.
