Walt Disney's grandson faces 20 drug, weapons charges

Prosecutors will arraign a grandson of Walt Disney today on 20 felony counts of possessing illegal weapons and drugs.
Patrick Disney Miller, 42, was taken into custody about 5:30 a.m. at his home in Woodland Hills earlier this month after the Los Angeles Police Department executed a search warrant.
Miller was booked at the LAPD’s jail in Van Nuys for investigation of possession of a firearm by a felon and selling ammunition or reloaded ammunition for a handgun.
Los Angeles County prosecutors added additional counts when they charged him
Neither he nor his attorney could be reached for comment. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Van Nuys Superior Court.
That "crimefighter Trutanich" poster and his outfit are hilarious. When it first came out people in pedro who knew him as the long beach lawyer associated with the clan here literally thought it was a joke - with his rep as "the fixer" the Times was REALLY foisting the Nooch on us as some sort of Superman or Batman, anything but a Caveman?
Ass Clown Award MUST go to Jim Newton at the Times, shared with his henchman Bob Greene formerly of the Met News, and David Zahniser the Hitman. Who as Mulholland Terrace noted in their year-end wrap-up is "normally impeccable" but fell lock, stock and barrel for Shallman-Thomas.
AND dishonorable mention to whoever else at the Slimes is dumb enough to have brought us this bad farce as fact.

Not Janice Hahn. Please NOT Janice Hahn.
Janice Hahn should not be lieutenant governor or even city councilwoman is her record. Hahn is loosely qualified now and was inadequately qualified in 2001 when she coat tailed on her brother's mayoral race and her father's name.
Fast forward to 2009 and it is not Hahn's qualifications that make her the wrong choice: It is her failed leadership and political practices.
When you remain silent and allow the police chief to take 40 cops out of your area during a time when the city adds 1,000 cops to the force because you need a political endorsement, when you allow Eastview Little League to stay in limbo for five years then displace these children to play in an area you yourself have called "the diesel death zone," when you divide a community on Ponte Vista because you fear any decision would hurt you politically and hope to delay a decision until you are out of office, when you blatantly lie to your community about a proposition (Proposition A) you sponsor to help yourself during a time you are under investigation for misusing gang prevention funds, when you cannot develop the waterfront because you are at odds with the port and the mayor as a political strategy, when you are compromised by donors from outside your district because they account for 80 percent of the money you raise, when your hometown has added more tattoo parlors than schools, bakeries, libraries and cops combined during your time in office, you do not deserve the community's support or deserve to be its representative.
These are the reasons to oppose Janice Hahn; these are the facts; this is her record. I am tired of the same random letters that defend Hahn from people who directly or indirectly receive money from the Councilwoman (aka Frank O’Brien, Liz Johnson, Stephanie Mardesich). Just think what we could have accomplished in the past eight and half years if Janice had been committed to our future instead of hers.

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released its 2009list of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians.” The list, in alphabetical order, includes:
1. Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT): This marks two years in a row for Senator Dodd, who made the 2008 “Ten Most Corrupt” list for his corrupt relationship with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and for accepting preferential treatment and loan terms from Countrywide Financial, a scandal which still dogs him.
2. Senator John Ensign (R-NV): A number of scandals popped up in 2009 involving public officials who conducted illicit affairs, and then attempted to cover them up with hush payments and favors, an obvious abuse of power.
3. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA): Judicial Watch is investigating a $12 million TARP cash injection provided to the Boston-based OneUnited Bank at the urging of Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank.
4. Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner: In 2009, Obama Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner admitted that he failed to pay $34,000 in Social Security and Medicare taxes from 2001-2004 on his lucrative salary at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), an organization with 185 member countries that oversees the global financial system. (Did we mention Geithner now runs the IRS?)
5. Attorney General Eric Holder: Tim Geithner can be sure he won’t be hounded about his tax-dodging by his colleague Eric Holder, US Attorney General.
6. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL)/ Senator Roland Burris (D-IL): One of the most serious scandals of 2009 involved a scheme by former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich to sell President Obama’s then-vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.
7. President Barack Obama: During his presidential campaign, President Obama promised to run an ethical and transparent administration. However, in his first year in office, the President has delivered corruption and secrecy, bringing Chicago-style political corruption to the White House.
8. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA): At the heart of the corruption problem in Washington is a sense of entitlement. Politicians believe laws and rules (even the U.S. Constitution) apply to the rest of us but not to them.
9. Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) and the rest of the PMA Seven: Rep. John Murtha made headlines in 2009 for all the wrong reasons. The Pennsylvania congressman is under federal investigation for his corrupt relationship with the now-defunct defense lobbyist PMA Group.
10. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY): Rangel, the man in charge of writing tax policy for the entire country, has yet to adequately explain how he could possibly "forget" to pay taxes on $75,000 in rental income he earned from his off-shore rental property.

Another reason to oppose Hahn: she hired Shallman as her political consultant. It is time we hold candidates responsible for employing muck artists to market them to the voters.
10;52 "against him" means against Rocky, stuff Nuch hopes to dig up on Rocky, as Cooley runs against him for Attorney General. Some of their supporters have let this slip, assuming everyone's on board with their vindictive and elected him for that purpose. Wrong, some actually thought he'd do the stuff in that 50-page leave-behind that fooled dummy Jim Newton and his colleagues in editorial and David Zahniser etc. at the Times.
Incompetent and disastrous as Rocky was for the city, it's outrageous that Trutanich and Cooley are openly using our resources at a critical time like this, to pay investigators to look for dirt on a political opponent, as well as Wendy Greuel, by ONLY "allowing" her to audit Rocky's old books and not whatever she wants as he promised Laura Chick. This is the "work" he's focused on and why he wants to add hundreds of secret police while our city is losing its most senior workers in E-Rip. WHICH he is happy about because any workers who retire he can replace with HIS "loyalists." If you look at Berger and Usher as models for loyalists, we can see what he probably has in mind.
The kind of AG campaign that's shaping up this way is NOT going to benefit the people of California any more than Shallman's dirty local campaigns have. They need to know that the people have had enough of this and want our money to go toward public good not political vendettas!
Anyway Rocky will have his clock cleaned by Kamala Harris, who's a young biracial woman, articulate and attractive. Her negatives are on illegal immigration and opposition to the death penalty, but Cooley's making so many enemies and wasting so much money fighting various wars designed to enhance his political career at the expense of sensible priorities that she's got a strong shot. He's out of touch with the voters and vindictive - the fledgling union of Asst. DA's lawsuit is testament to that. They feel they need to organize to stop the persecution and retribution.
Paul Lisker's and Deborah's Peagler's cases can come back to haunt him if Kamala is smart, and manages her own campaign, doesn't leave it all in the hands of Ace.

Why do you think nearly everyone in City Hall wanted Jack Weiss to be City Attorney? Not because they liked him, but because they knew Jack would be able to keep a lid on all the corrupt dirty dealing that goes on.
Trutanich hadn't been in office for a day before he started blowing the whistle on Jan Perry's signing off on a $3.4M taxpayer bailout for AEG who were about to lose their shirts when Michael Jackson killed himself.
Then, when the Rocky/Weiss billboard settlement was challenged in court, it was Trutanich who opened the books and let the court see what Rocky and Weiss had done - given 900 digital billboards to three companies in return for $0!!! That judge described the Weiss/Rocky deal as 'poisonous' and overturned it. Meanwhile, Rocky and Jack get to keep all the campaign contributions they got from the billboard companies.
And now the fat slut Jan Perry is having to prove what we all knew - she has a special relationship with AEG, and when Trutanich said "no more billboards," Perry passed a special motion to do a favor for AEG and give them their 18 billboards when nobody else in LA can get one.
And just wait for the results of that bitterly fought piece of political maneuvering of the so-called Controller lawsuit. Remember, Laura Chick wants to audit Rocky Delgadillo's Workers Compensation program? Well Trutanich went ahead and INVITED Wend Greuel to do the audit, and guess what? All the dirt that her auditors are now digging up is going to hurt Rocky's chances of being Attorney General unless Wendy sits on the report until after the election. After all the fuss Wendy made about wanting to be able to audit, how will she be able to have any credibility if she doesn't turn over the truth about Rocky's deals with Workers Comp lawyers who sued the City regularly with worthless cases because the 'fix was in' and Rocky signed checks instead of fighting cases, or even investigating cases.
Holly shit, if Weiss had won there wouldn't be anything to write about, and nothing for Rocky to worry about.
This is a cluster fuck of monumental proportions and there's nothing, absolutely nothing the Rocky machine can do to stop the freight train that's gonna hit him when Cooley starts his campaign.

I agree that Alicia Lane is not newsworthy - she was when hired only because L A Observed and others noted she'd acquired a rep as a diva with a bad temper and foul mouth, who had even slapped a cop once.

When the 2nd half of '09 fund raising totals are disclosed, it will be revealed that Rocky's fund raising dropped off considerably.

IF Trutanich wants to get the support back of the grass root people who helped put him in office then he needs to show us the investigation report he said he was doing on AEG and tell us who is responsible for all the BS and money. People say it was Bratton so why is Trutanich protecting him, he's gone. I couldn't agree more with Paul if Janice Hahn hired Shallman already that's a huge red flag.

They aren't pandering and trying to get votes for a few groups of activists around the city. They are on a serious mission to get her elected across the state.
They got Antonio re-elected by getting the right amount of average people out to vote. Period. They'll do it with Kamala and they'll do it by whatever means necessary. None of them are afraid of Cooley. And Rocky is but a fly to be swatted away as she moves forward with the campaign.
And Janice Hahn will win also.
Along with the LA Weekly's Patrick McDonald, the Times' (and former LA Weekly's) David Zahniser has been writing unflattering, but truthful stories about local LA entrenched politicians.
Hats off to Mr. Zahniser. That's the important function of the press (including this blog) - they are an important check and balance in a Democracy instead of turning away from corruption or just being a "yes man" to those in power.
Rocky is bringing in Parke and Hacopian to spruce up his campaign.
Rocky is also getting Jack Weiss to get the orthodox jewish community to help with the fund raising.
Jack's never going to get back into Los Angeles politics so he's probably been promised a spot in Rocky's administration in Sacramento.
Actually, when you think about it, it is almost worth voting for Rocky if it gets that fucked-up arrogant asshole out of Los Angeles.

It’s too early to predict, remember the City Attorney and CD 2race, but only time will tell who the real winner will be after the elections. The voters are becoming well informed on the issues before casting their vote.

Much like Shallman, anybody who is running can hire Parke Skelton. You don't have to be AV or AV-endorsed to hire Parke or Hacopian.

What did the rate payers of DWP get for the $6300 a WEEK they paid David Nahai? Does this mean that any non re-elected official can stay on the gravy train after then get booted from office? Something is very rotten at DWP but more noticably at the city council for letting all this happen. What would happen if all the city council candidates that were not backed by DWP got elected? Would common fiscal sense take its place? If you cannot afford it you don't buy it.
