A witness alleges the following:
"Nahai drove his wife to the Bel Air Starbucks at the Beverly Glen Center (2952 N Beverly Glen Circle, Los Angeles, CA 90077-1724) on Saturday October 3, 2009, he stopped near the store and waited while his wife (Gina B. Nahai, an author) went into Starbucks. She came out with her coffee and got into the car and was driven away by David.The Nahais live nearby."

What would you people do if you didn't try to find ways to harass city employees and managers? Stick to issues that matter if you must try to find a way to matter - this is dumb and petty. The guy resigned the day before and he still has the car, so what? He could have demanded full salary and benefits through the end of the year if he wanted, or forced the city into an expensive buyout.
But he took the job because he was persuaded by others he could do good as an environmentalist, gave up far more lucrative law practice with no security - he's out just like that.
He's a scapegoat for all the anger against DWP, things like the salaries the Daily News whipped up a fever about, and now pensions, that "pension Parks" of all people is using to try to become popular with homeowner groups. Having lost the support of his own ethnic community, LAPD troops, everyone else.
Focus on issues. Like Wendy Greul's audit that just found huge waste in sub-contractor fraud - what will you do next, show up at Nahai's house and harass him there? Oh yeah, reporters already did that months ago, upsetting his family. It's a wonder the guy stayed this long.
This lynch mob mentality is scary.
You hound this guy because he's an easy mark, but don't talk about the important stuff like how idiot Nuch won't pay off Chick's legal fee even though he promised to support Chick AND Woocher to get her endorsement. The notorious "liar and demagogue" episode that got even Doug Mcinture riled up. Bill Rosendahl tried to do something actually useful, and get it reduced to about 1/3 or $80k but Nuch's ego insists on making her and her lawyer out to be "losers" and cheats. So the suit goes on, will end up costing a lot more because Woocher will have to sue.
Meanwhile Nuche told the council to order Greuel to sever ties with the lawyer, insisting he's the only one she can use to defend herself -- against him.
So she's even angrier and the war goes on, the council split in two, Zine of course and Parks, Perry, Hahn on one side, some fence-sitters. A few of them were glad for this excuse not to let her audit their books down the line and even said they didn't trust an elected official to audit another -- but that's HER JOB.
And what if THEY get sued by the City Attorney, and are told to defend themselves out of their personal pockets Or - use the city attorney against himself.
They're useless in making important decisions so are likely to put the whole thing on the ballot as a measure, costing over a million bucks, just to avoid responsibility.
However Rosendahl did manage to get immediate action on something far more vital: whether dog walkers could walk more than 3 dogs at a time in a dog park. Some constituents came to him Thursday and he got it all heard with animal Dept. staff and City attorneys today, tearful testimony including Ed Asner's appearance, impassioned speeches by certain councilmembers proclaiming their love for dogs. All in the interest of happy soundbites for Rosendahl's hopes at running for Freinstein's senate seat. Amazed Hahn didn't speak longer, like about the alligator - she must have been distracted.
And he parked in a red zone too!
Boy, this guy Nahai has some "buddy system" going with DWP. Us regular folks have to give everything back to the company on the day we resign, according to California Labor Codes.
He keeps the car, even though he's an independent contractor? The law says you have to furnish all of your own equipment if you're at 1099 status. Guess the law does not apply to Nahai.
I just saw the news where the Mayor is sticking up for the continued salary of Nahai. Now why would he do that knowing everyone is criticizing DWP for it? Zine is the only one being outspoken. Why isn't Mrs. Doubtfire aka Greg Smith the supposed budget hawk saying anything about it. If IBEW gave Wendy Greuel $200,000 for her election we need to find out how much each council member was given. Does anyone know how to find that out?
Zine on KFI just said that he'll stop Nahai's contract and insist on an hourly rate if anything. Also said they're "looking into" why Nahai was using a city car two days after he resigned and before he has any contract at all.
Alpert says he doesn't need the Council's approval as the contract for Nahai is under $149,000, based on Nahai getting $6,300 a week until the end of the year.
Zine says the Council can still stop the contact under section 245 of the City Charter.

Nahai nailed in a city car two days after he "resigned," Great! We've just got a new word for the 2010 OED, 'Resigned' Verb. To be quietly thrown out of an elected or appointed office. eg: Kelly Candelle resigned after fucking up an illegal fundraiser for Jack Weiss. Anti: Jack Weiss could not resign himself to being outed for being yet another phony corrupt democrat, so he hides in his Bel Air mansion in a darkened room growing a unabomber beard, not bathing for days, and wearing hemp shirts, loose fitting shorts, and flip flop shoes.

Nuch won't pay Chick's bill because it's her bill. We won't pay Nahai his little double dip while he screws the Clinton Solar Energy boondoggle out of more limo liberal cash. That's not because anyone gives a damn about protecting Clinton's stash of cash, but simply because it's a waste of out money.
You liberals cannot get it into you small brains that the people elect you, and we can remove you.
For Villaraigosa to have terminated Nahai, he really must have screwed up far worse than we are aware. Was it that Nahai's relationship with the friends of Clinton who had recently bought land on the 'green corridor' hoping to treble their investments when they sold the land to the DWP with Nahai's blessing?
The 'green corridor' recently got the thumbs down, millions of limo liberal democrat dollars were lost because Nahai's arrogance was so extreme that he couldn't believe a handful of bloggers could take him down.
Nahai is the limit. No amount of deflecting the blame on Zine or Trutanich is going to make the stench of this corruption go away.

10:16pm = the Weisshole. Probably on page 12,348 of his 'manifesto' for a liberal country where corrupt officials rule like demagogues and anyone with the courage to stand up their "we know better than you" is subject to a personal attack.
Notice, please, that the Weisshole never, ever, actually deals with the issue - here it's David Nahai, a democrat icon, boldly and unashamedly using city property that is not his to use. It's the Tony Vliiar machine paying off a fellow liberal democrat for failing to get away with a get rich quick scheme to reward land investors for buying useless land that they could sell to the DWP for the 'green corridor.'
