A "Connected Non-Profit" that Mayor Villaraigosa may want to "Disconnect" from
No one who observes Los Angeles political scene will disagree that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is the top all-time exploiter of the "photo-op".
The Mayor's "Discount Prescription Card" above is the classic example of exploiting image for the sake of positive political motives. But what is the story on the selection of the people pictured with the Mayor?
We now know the background of the female on the left and her connections to the Mayor. Lets just say that connections pay off, but can also become problematic if there is some embarrassing details disclose.
Thanks to a tip from a CD 14 observer, we can say that the female on the left is an employee of Legacy LA., a new "connected non-profit" associated with Mayor Villaraigosa's cronies Jenny Krusoe and Maria Lou Calanche. We searched the Mayor Sam archives and came up with this.
Monique Moncayo "Director of Youth Outreach" Is she still double dipping at Hazard Park ?? Some would call that a "Conflict of Interest".Known to some as "Mini Lu".
We could stop here but then there is something about "embarrassing details".
A source has stated that Legacy LA is endanger of losing their Gang Reduction, Youth Development or "GRYD" contract due to "double counting". Legacy LA, as part of their GRYD contract, is require to work with 25 gang members and 25 youths who are protential gang members. But it seems that Legacy LA is trying to count the 25 protential gang members again as "gang members" on their reports to GRYD. Further community members are questioning whether the two intervention specialists, "George" and "Renee" are actually in the field doing their work.
In addition, the GRYD rep for the area "Eduardo" was recently terminated from his position with the city, Eduardo also was the on-site coordinator at Ramona Gardens Recreation Center, for the Mayor Villaraigosa's "Summer Night Lights" program.
Then there is reports out of the Ramona Gardens Housing Project that racial tensions are building due to the City of Los Angeles Housing Authority relocating African-American families into vacant units. a meeting to discuss the racial tensions is schedule for 6:00 PM, on Thursday October 8 at the Ramona Gardens Recreation Center. There is some speculation that during a recent meeting, someone from Legacy LA commented that the Ramona Gardens area had always been a "latino project".
If this is true, that someone would advocate public housing projects being segregated by race, then they have no business being rewarded with public contracts. But then Legacy LA meetings are open only to those who are invited.
Then there are those who say that the Mayor approves who gets invited??
Your thoughts.............

Why would you think Red Snot would care about that stuff? Are you just looking for friend?

Why would this blog be over? It almost seems to run itself seamlessly since Higby's been busy.
It will be around as long as Higby's around I guess. Anonymous people come and blogging people go, but everyone in the city stops by to read for a minute. There is no other blog like this one.
Ron Kaye has a good blog as long as you're one of the cowboys wanting to regain control of their territory or those who want to protest what they're unhappy with. Everyone seems to post using their real names there and that makes them all a lot more cautious about what they'll say.
And we know it's not a blog like LA Observed. No interaction between anyone. That's just boring.
Sometimes the blog is too racist and over the top, yet what better idea to gauge what some average people are thinking about out there where.
Some of you, like Higby himself, are very open minded and allow rogue reporters at bay!

3:06, don't think everyone around the city is reading anymore. Check the ratings. And you are correct that Higby is busy. That seems to be the problem. Look at the posts. What is so unique that you don't get everywhere else? It's mostly coverage of other stories. Except some occasional stuff from Red Spot if you can understand it or care.

Jenny Krusoe, esteemed member of the Southwest Society, continues to kiss the Antonio ring.
Tell us Jenny, after you lent your name to the fraud known as the Southwest Society (the Autry Museum's public relations ploy to make it appear that the Southwest Museum would be saved without actually DOING anything), how many meetings did you attend? How much money did you actually raise for the Southwest Museum's restoration?
Oh? None? Hope Antonio rewarded you well for lending your name.

CAN WE SAY PAPER CLIENTS??? YES, these non-profits are funded like neighborhood councils, the monies flow into personal pockets not the kids they where meant to serve. Kushy job? it takes brains to come up with false names/addresses/ look at the non-profit El Centro Del Pueblo they own a commerical building they rent to a restaurant named MASA and support the Echo and Echoplex, El Centro works with people who have alcohol and drug addictions, and gangs, yet instead of having a day care center or other counceling offices, they rent out to estabishments that sell liquior, kinda defeats the purpose of going to counselling, go have a few drinks after the session, that is if they haven't fired the social workers who are actully working for the kids (like Marie) who asked too many questions about the El Centro process and got fired, I know a kid on his 3rd case worker in less than 6 weeks. they have a case manager named Sarah who calls the parents to harrass em if they dont show up for counselling, how do you go if ur worker was fired and you havent been reassigned?? Who does the oversight for these gang programs, what leval of success do they really have? Except for defrauding the tax payer system.
