James to Endorse
Local talkradio host Kevin James will announce his pick for the nod to replace former Council Member Wendy Greuel in this coming Tuesday's Council District 2 Special Election. James tells the Sister City he will announce this in the 10:00 p.m. hour of his show.
While we have no idea who James - who has done the most extensive broadcast coverage of this race including running an on-air candidates forum - will pick, I think its safe to bet it will not be former entertainment industry exec Chris Essel.
James' show airs Monday to Friday evenings from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on KRLA AM 870 or via the web at http://krla870.townhall.com/.

It won't be any of the big three either. It will be Mary.
I do not want to break Zuma Dogg's heart, because I know he will probably lash out at Kevin for this on his blog, but I have no doubt that Kevin is going to endorse Tamar Galatzan for CD2.
The reasons he will give is that Tamar has not (YET) been tarnished by city politics, and is not as aligned with the Mayor as some of the others. So he will say that she has some promise, but isn't so intrenched as to show up at city hall DOA.
Kevin is also going to say that endorsing Tamar means that career demagogues like Krekorian will be shut out, and that the only gadfly who is really on the scene just doesn't have the sophistication or maturity to get along with the others, understand the major issues, and not throw the whole city under the bus. Kevin won't say this, but I know based on his commentaries that he thinks Zuma may have some emotional problems, not to mention an ego the size of any of the CMs.
Kevin will conclude that while the field of candidates is large, the only real choice is Tamar.
He will express great appreciation for Zuma Dogg's efforts, but that he just doesn't have what it takes to survive in the long run, and that there is already enough chaos in the city council, and we don't need more.
Speaking of that, I believe that Kevin feels that Zuma's nutty friends, like those who curse in front of school children, and who wear KKK outfits, cannot be allowed in the inner workings of the city, especially during a time of crisis, but even when times get better.
I am voting for Zuma Dogg myself. So if he comes out and attacks me after sharing these views, he will only be going after some one who really does understand what he brings to the table. Zuma Dogg would be a great CM, or at least not any worse than any of the others who are presently on it. This is about who Kevin will endorse, and that's what I think he is going to say.
It will be a woman, maybe "Valley Doll" as a write in candidate.

Michael, you're accusing Tamar of everything that more appropriately sticks to Essel. You say she's beholden to Villaraigosa (a lot of people cut loose from him last year, and some even after this year's election), you say Acebo is too close to Villaraigosa (have you spoken to him this year?).
I don't mind you making an endorsement (or even attacking Tamar with something other than hearsay and speculation) but when you're on such a factless smear campaign you're only muddying the waters, and your reader's know that posts at this blog are only worth reading when they try to clarify, not try to muddy.
If your readers click over to that Airport Peace Officers doc, it proves nothing except the precise opposite of what you're trying to say: that Tamar and the Mayor are significantly apart--and so's Acebo now. There's no need to go all Rove on a friggin' Council District election that's headed for a runoff. Take a side, but try to play fair.
Talk about being a faker, Dave Schmaltzenburglar always wears that one dark outfit which is completely unlike him. You can't trust someone who wears black all the time.
It won't matter who he, or this blog endorses, or who gets elected.

In the meantime, Tamar is the only candidate that has individuals from the Mayor's staff and cadre of loyalists working and getting paid by her.
Since when did Kevin James' endorsement mean anything to anyone except the dozen or so boneheads that regularly listen to his show?
If Essel were the Mayor's candidate she would not have hired John Shallman. The mayor and his closest people hate the guy for crushing Weiss.
6:09 is faulty logic. Maybe they hate Shallman but they want to use him: he's a mercenary for hire by anyone. James hates Shallman now. He's proving he's not infallible, though: he's best with a slimy candidate who matches his style.
The mayor has no loyalty to anyone but himself and his own goals. If you "fail" him, even while carrying out HIS mission, or refuse to carry out his mission; he's Darth Vader. With his enormous ego and lack of moral compass, similar educations, frankly he and Trutanich are most similar. Except they distrust each other precisely because they each recognize the other in themselves.
Joe M is right: the document you yourself link to, Higby, states that Tamar explained she was explicitly NOT endorsed by the Mayor and would not be, because "we don't see eye to eye" on various LAUSD and City Council and city issues. You prove the arguement against yourself. She asked for their endorsement as an LAPD prosecutor from Van Nuys, familiar with policing issues and their organization.
Krekorian was also there seeking their endorsement too, but said he didn't know what they do, "was willing to learn," and talked about his overall record.
Essel was scheduled to go and seek their endorsement but cancelled. So did she get it anyway, without showing? What happened with that?
Higby is shilling for Krekorian, as evidenced by his many biased posts.
More importantly, who cares who Kevin James endorses?
Being endorsed by James is no plus for mainstream people, a negative for the "progressives" and those who just plain hate the hatemongering that goes on there and what comes out of the mouths of guests like Zine, John Thomas (he'll probably be on tonight as usual, the Trutanich campaign manager/ "Republican party strategist"), Walter Moore and of course Cooley and Nuch. These guys think Doug McIntyre is too liberal. His treatment of Essel has been anything but gentlemanly or civilized.
But if it's Tamar she'll have showed she can balance between opposite extremes of the political spectrum, a unique feat in this city. If it's Benson, McCue or Esavi, it's more up James' alley. But won't be because he knows they can't win.

Essel ignored Kevin, and it will cost her and Shalman dearly. There will be a Krackorian backed scandal about Galatzan Monday, unless Kevin leaks it tonight, and it's ugly enough to take her out. So stay tuned.

The point of the Peace Officers meeting minutes was not to tie her to Mayor or to document her lies but a series of online material that ties her to Acebo, part of the Villar Mafia.
But let that be just one item. More important is the $12,000 she paid Acebo when she specifically told voters in Sunland-Tujunga that she did not have anyone associated with the Mayor on her campaign.

Krekorian did sound knowledgeable to James about the "hanging" gang injunction issue, saying he supports going after taggers but is concerned that it's written in a way that won't stand up to constitutional challenge, knew his stuff.
James emphasized that Bill Carter reviewed it for Trutanich and that Carter was experienced and knowledgeable - the same guy who along with Curl Livesay are the REAL hands-on City Attorneys and attend PR events with him, now insist on reviewing his comments, trying to keep the bombastic boob out of his own way.
Mary Benson is about to get a real endorsement...

9:50PM you and Krackorian both don't know your stuff. Graffiti injunctions are constitutional. If you and Krack had bothered to check, you would have found that one the very first City Attorney injunctions issued was an injunction that targeted, wait for it, GRAFFITI.
When that worked, the injunction idea was expanded to cover criminal street gangs, and the focus changed to targeting gangs. The origins of the law surrounding injunctions is firmly grounded in nuisance abatement, and so, if you stop to think about it, instead of making idiotic comments about our City Attorney, you would realize that Trutanich's brilliance was not to come up with something new and untested, but rather to dust off something that's been dormant since 1988, and use it for what it was intended.
So all you stinking Jack Weiss worshipers who still cannot get over it, read 'em and weep.
