Chris Essel goes "Wild" on Paul Krekorian in CD 2 Special Election
Wild as in "wild, misleading attack" on fellow "Big 2 Candidate" Paul Krekorian.
The "Westside Essel Edition" of the "Old Gray Westside Hag On Spring Street" seeks to balance its Pro-Essel editorial slant with this objective news post on CD 2 Candidate Chris Essel's "string of negative mailers" attacking opponants in the Special Election to replace Wendy Greuel on the City Council.
One of the negative mailers attacks Krekorian for his alleged actions regarding the preservation of the Verdugo Hills Golf Course. But as the "Ol d Gray Westside Hag On Spring Street" points out, the facts are in the details.
A recent mailer from Essel’s campaign claimed that Krekorian “voted for legislation that gave a Valley golf course away to a luxury condominium developer” and cites a May 2007 vote on Assembly Bill 212 as its source. But Krekorian says he never supported the project and has circulated an August 2007 letter he wrote to then-Councilwoman Wendy Greuel stating the golf course should be preserved as open space.
Krekorian elaborates further,
Krekorian notes that at the time he voted for AB 212 in May 2007, the bill was a briefly-worded state budget bill that did not include any language pertaining to the golf course project.
After the May 2007 vote, Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes gutted and amended the legislation, proposing planning process changes that would have allowed developers to build 229 homes on the 63-acre golf course in Tujunga.
“Saying that I voted for that is a lie,” Krekorian said in an interview this week.
Nice retort Paul, but why are you accepting Assemblyman Fuentes's "funny money of televise appreciation" at this time when the issue of preserving the Verdugo Hills Golf Course, is the paramount decider for open space perservationists, in their choice for CD 2 ??
..........and for Chris Essel ?? One can go back and blend in with the elite masses.
Your thoughts...............................

I thought Essel was running on the ethics issue?

Yea but Fuentes got his butt kicked on the golf course. He's just looking to replace Zorro and make nice with future Clowncils.

So what is going to be Wendy's excuse this time for supporting this empty suit? She cant even get her lies straight.

Yeah, I'm sure Krekorian is totally innocent. That's why "golf course killer" Fuentes is spending tons of cash to promote him on TV
Fuentes and Krekorian - peas in a pod

How can Paul "accept" the commercials? Fuentes can do whatever he wants with his money, Paul can object but he has no ability to stop it.

Essel Campaign= How many ways can you self destruct.
They can hold a clinic on how not to run campaigns.

Essel is a LIAR, pure and simple!

If you had any doubts why the main mantra in CD is any one but Essel, you just got your answer.

it`s ironic that the faces of Antonio`s puppets are side by side.
C. Essel the empty vessel and M. Garcia the big vessel.

If Essel lies so blatantly during your campaign, imagine what she will do if she wins.

I was walked by one of her walkers last night. When I told her that I was supporting Tamar because Essel is a carpetbagger, her response was "Well Tamar moved into the district too".
I guess not telling the truth is a problem not just for the candidate but for their staff also.

What I find funny is the fact that Krekorian has absolutely no problem with the other aspects of the Essel mailers dealing with his free around the world travel, lakers tickets, grammy tickets, clothing from Fabian Nunez and thousands of dollars in free meals and wine from Sacramento lobbyists.
His only complaint with the mailer: That he didn't really support his friend Felipe Fuentes' plan to bulldoze the golf course.
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain spending $15,000 to get me elected," says Paul.
"You see, Felipe just loves me and only me. That's why he didn't do this for any of the other members of the Assembly. Why it's common practice for Sacramento politicians and special interests to spend thousands of dollars to help their opponents."

Actually didn't Tamar move into the district from West LA too? Not as recently as Essel but to run for school board yes?

Anywaz Spot where did you get that photo? You can almost make a game out of picking people out of the crowd. I see Monica, Baca, Zev, Jack Nicholson...
Is it Michael Jackson's funeral?

Saw it floating away from a "empty vessel".

I love the critiques of the Essel campaign by the amateurs.
Shallman knows what he is doing and has proven it time and time again.
Don't you think you ought to wait for Wednesday morning to make your judgments about what worked and what didn't?
The only guy I know of that can not know the facts and still make a judgement is our esteemed President, Barry O'Bama.
Is that you, Barry?
If so, let's all just have a beer and celebrate Kum-By-Aaah.

Wednesday morning will be Krekorian and Galatzan...Essel will be a distant third.

I'm glad to see the Times was able to get a response from the Essel campaign regarding the misleading campaign materials. Having come to the same conclusion on the information (with two mouse clicks), I wanted to contact the campaign but could find no phone number on the materials or the web. A number was found (through another candidate's office), a call was made, and I was told by an uninformed worker that someone would call me back to discuss the issue. I'm still waiting. John Shallman can allude or prove to his heart’s content that Mr. Krekorian had been working with Mr. Fuentes on this issue, but that’s not what was claimed as fact in the materials sent. Is this the "not politics as usual candidate"?
