Critics in CD2 blasted Paul Krekorian for not being in Sacramento during his campaign are having a cow over his last minute cancellation of Kevin James' radio debate Thursday night. Krekorian was able to call into James' show and our sources tell us he has agreed to a further appearance on James' show.
Most of these comments are likely coming from the Essel and Galatzan not ready for prime time campaign staffs who really have little business being such hypocrites given Essel's no-show and Galatzan's drive by on LAUSD.
Sorry Essel I know this post is going to cost you more billings by Shallman for spinning on the blog but you should just shut up and drop out now before you embarrass yourself any further.

Higby and Shallman are master spinners for their candidate

I feel bad now for giving Essel a hard time about skipping the show. At least she was up front about it.
We already have 14 Council Members who say one thing and then go do another. Do we really need another one?

Higby,
Essel isn't going to drop out. I'm afraid she might make the runoff. She doesn't care what you think. She has big money behind her. Mailers galore!

HIgy, you were doing better when you backed Saltburg; at least you controlled yourelf.
This post is as out of control as a ZD rant. Shame on you.
If you can't stand losing, then don't o head over heels for losers like you ae wont to do.
Me, I am looking for an all feminine runoff - kind of "The Great Skirt Race"....
This is a WOMEN'S seat, you know.

regarding krekorina. i don't know what possessed mister higby to back the guy but i predict a few years from now we're going to get a hat-in-hand "if i only knew then what i know now" speech from mr higby.

Krekorian was shameless in grandstanding over the Cirque du Soleil issue, claiming that the money should have gone to public safety when he knows damn well it was designated for specific things by HUD. He should have been the Shallman candidate, would have done better than poor hapless Chris Essel who doesn't know what hit her, being hated as the Mayor's candidate.
Funny how Shallman encouraged Kevin James to loathe the mayor and ALL of City Hall so much during his dirty work for Trutanich that now it's biting him in the ass with Essel. Fact is Jack was his own person long before he ever met Antonio, but why shouldn't he have availed himself of the money sources when Trutanich had the Republicans getting hit on by Cooley and all the rest of them, and was taking $500,000 in matching funds. But poor Essel has no political creds of her own: I agree that Shallman and the Slimes hope to use that to advantage again, but we see what's happened with Shallman's candidate Trutanich, who got in on lying to everyone from Chick to the public, and now is throwing them all under the bus to act just like Weiss and everyone who knew him said he would. Karma's a bitch, Shallman.

Matt Szabo, senior press secretary to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, was elevated today to deputy chief of staff for the mayor and will act as his point man in crises.
Here's another non-scoop by you know who. When he gts his usded copy of the Times, he'll be telling us that he predicted it last January.

Well said Tamar (2:51).
Stop trying to run away from the Villaraigosa machine.
You campaigned hard for Weiss and hoped he would be your boss allowing you to campaign on the taxpayer dime.
YOu lost. Get over it.
NOw Nooch is making you punch the clock and do your job and Cooley has opened a file on your illegal mailers. And your pissed about it.

How do you know Cooley opened a flier on Galatzan's maliers? Is that publicly known?

3:50, you're right, Trutanich is doing such a great job, the Daily News has a harsh editorial slamming him for defrauding the voters and Chick to get her endorsement and and them to get theirs, today, over the Controller issue - they've already called him out on his badly written and rash graffiti "hanging" injunction, reversing his campaign promises to marijuana patients on pot sales in California, and other things.
As has former supporter/ DN commentator Doug McIntyre, VERY strongly. And of course Laura Chick herself, who didn't mince words calling him a liar, demagogue, fraud who never intended to keep his promise to her, just used her and ran over her with a pickup truck. And these are the conservative, former supporters, never mind how the moderates and liberals are waking up to what a fraud he was to get elected any which way.
Yeah, Tamar was so wrong to back Weiss, as did Krekorian. Anyone with a brain can see he was the right choice, that Trutanich is not just a rightwing partisan hack doing Cooley's dirty work (go ahead and keep invoking his name as a spiteful partisan vendetta monger, proves my point) as well as fronting for the rightwing ranters like Kevin James, Zine, the Minuteman crowd. Even a conservative radio ranter like Doug is too moderate and decent to be fooled any longer into wanting to have anything to do with him.

Keep defending Antonio and Jack, Tamar. Jack Weiss was the worst City Councilmember in history. He lost his own district by a landslide because we knew how arrogant and awful he was--kind of like you. It's obvious why you would defend the DAily News. They endorsed you. So stop the whining about Trutanich and start packing your bags. You WILL be recalled after you lose the Council election. Louis Pugliese better get ready for another school board race.

A handful of people who have a grievance about someone mount a recall and abuse it - like wesson was saying yesterday about Gray Davis it's supposed to be used for corruption or extreme cases, not for a political lobby who didn't get their way. The political lobby who failed with Jack that you refer to didn't come close to the signatures they need and claim or they'd have let the city clerk count them - claims they wanted to save the city money because they were a few thousand short are so laughable. They've sued the city over many things, not caring about cost, like the Olympic-Pico partial one-way which would have reduced traffic by now and they thought it was a great idea when Zev proposed it. They've also stalled the Expo Line for years, killed the westside subway years ago, so that now we're in a recession and federal money we'd have had before is dried up, what a blessing they are.

A Message from Your Previous Fans
We were starting to like this blog. A lot. Sure, there was the occasional tirade by a secondary poster, an occasional false rumor, and an occasional ad hominem attack. But for the most part, this blog added an important voice to the Los Angeles political dialogue, and we actually starting to think of the guys who wrote here as journalists.
Not any more. Michael Higby's (a.k.a. Mayor Sam's) ridiculous endorsement of Paul Krekorian, we believe, has revealed that we can never take this blog seriously again.
Why? Krekorian so clearly stands for everything Higby is against. Krekorian's biggest accomplishments in Sacramento were saying:
"Yes Fabian" (Nunez)
and
"Yes Karen" (Bass)
Your faithful Mayor Sam readers, the bread and butter of this blog, know how often the same Mr. Higby skewered Fabian and Bass and their policies here.
I mean, Krekorian is a nice guy, but so what? What has he done for the state, such that he merits jumping to city council?
The answer is: he has done everything that Higby and many thinking people hate. Spend incessantly, never question or show leadership, and show no understanding of finances or fiscal accountability.
His "walking 3000 doors" program was just a cynical attempt to collect data on people, introduce his staff who want to run for office, and register more people who he thinks will vote for him.
So, since Krekorian is against everything Higby stands for, you have to ask, "why did this blog endorse Krekorian?"
Then you look at the data. Higby and this blog endorsed Nick Pacheco(!) when Eric Hacopian ran that campaign, and then switched sides to trash Nick Pacheco once Hacopian was fired.
Higby and this blog endorsed Emanuel Pleitez, a stooge used by Parke Skelton and Antonio Villaraigosa to prevent their enemy Gil Cedillo from getting to Congress. Who ran Pleitez's campaign? You guessed it. Eric Hacopian.
There is clearly a pattern here, and it is disturbing.
So it is becoming clear that Hacopian, known for dirty tactics, has exerted some undue influence on Michael Higby. We suspect that he has paid him off.
From our standpoint, Michael Higby and this blog have no more journalistic integrity.
It must suck, Michael, to build this wonderful institution and then sell it out cheap.
To think for a moment there, we actually believed in you.

HOW PEOPLE IN CD2 CAN VOTE FOR THESE LOW INTELLIGENT FRONT RUNNERS I DON'T KNOW. THEY KNOW HOW TO FOOL PEOPLE BUT FIX PROBLEMS FORGET IT. LOOK AT THE PIPE BREAKS. TAMAR DOES'T WANT A CUT NOR DOES PAUL IT'S DOUBTFUL THAT ESSEL DOES EITHER. VOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO CARE FOR THE COMMUNITY NOT THEIR POCKETBOOK. YOUR VOTE AND OTHERS DECIDE THE OUTCOME NOT THE BIAS PRESS OR POLLSTERS. TRY TESTING IT YOU HAVE ONLY YOURSELF TO BLAME FOR RIDING THEIR PHONEY WAVE.
