These aren't big dollars, per vote -- compared to some of the recent past cutthroat races in L.A.

What they really show is that this whole lot of candidates was so uninspiring that they couldn't pay a decent number of people to turnout and vote. If people feel there's something new and worthwhile in the wind -- they do line up and vote. But to just fill in a link in a chain connected to the same double-talk mechanism?

Not so much!

I like Joe but remind me to never vote for him.

He must have gone to the Walter Moore School of Campaign Finance.

Had Michael McCue had that kind of money he would have been in the run-off.

What a freaking waste!

Just looked at Essavi's statment. Most of what he spent was on a mailer. If it was absentee ballot apps then that's a good thing. Also spent a lot of money on signs.

Sheftel on the other had an office for about nine months. For what?

I think he just got his client into the runoff as he did with Trutanich being outspent by Weiss.

So, 4:53, or shall we call you "sour grapes", until you identify your ball-less self and list your campaign conquests--you're just not worth hearing from.

All these cost per votes pale in comparison to what Alatoused to spend on his elections. On a regular basis he would spend upwards of $600,000 to garner his 5,000 votes. That's over $100 per vote.

Money talks, bullsh*t walks. I'm not sure why people waste their time attacking John Shallman. His clients win. He doesn't do any of the sleazy things that consultants like Ace Smith do.

His client will win this one too. The public is not going to back a transactional opportunist like Paul Krekorian. Especially when the lid is blown off his whole using his state assembly account to finance this race. Watch and learn.

Referring to how happy Tamar & Brendan looked with their kids, Zuma said that it's "not like they're coming over to Zuma's Thanksgiving BBQ."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're homeless, how can people come over? Just how many people does Zuma Dogg's car seat? Can it fit Tamar & Brendan's entire family?

Where is this 2-1 spending differential coming from?

Ethics reports show Krekorian spent $225,255.71. Let's see, 2-1 would mean Essel spent $450,511.42.

Actual Essel spending: $321,464.57

You're only off by 60%. The exact percentage of the vote Essel will win on December 8th.

By the way, name the last local election Shallman lost when he spent 2-1 more than his opponent.

(sound of crickets)

FYI, Weiss outspent Trutanich by hundreds of thousands of dollars and Shallman still won.

Look, let's face it. Money talks in politics, there's no escaping it. If Tamar had been able to squeeze the Mayor to get some IE money for her, she might have aced Essel, but she did not have the support that was promised to her. She was badly let down by the Mayor and by her campaign staff who never delivered what they promised.
Tamar would have put her hand in her and her husband's pocket and loaned her campaign $200k, and that would have made a big difference. But her staffers were not really working for her and her supporters were less than generous. It was all going tits up in the end, and she cut her loses and wisely saved her money.
Essel now has to decide whether to buy Tamar's support or go it alone. With or without Tamar, I'm sorry to say that Essel will make the December election look like a cake walk. Essel has the money and has shown she's prepared to use it.

Very simple she spent 325,000 and has a $100,000 cash on hand because she busted the caps she had agreed to when she accepted matching funds.

Her $425,000 in the primary and the $56,000 in IE's mean she had almost $480,000 spent by her and on her behalf.

Go to the ethics site and you will figure it out yourself.

8:04, Shallman doesn't do "any of the sleazy things?" You insane? Besides the lapdog thing and lying about his opponent, mainly screaming "corruption" over minor issues that the Ethics commission said are oversights or immaterial (did it again with Tamar, and his lacky Reston ate it up, gave him his "corrupt!" soundbite); hugely lying about his candidate, to turn a sow's ear into a silk bag; rigging "debates" held by a political lobby group posing as an HOA, with invited participants and questions and surveys that were kangaroo courts, using Zuma and same staged goons at public comment, etc.

Shady dealings with the Slimes and HILARIOUS lies to try to spin an anti-environmental, half-literate amoral clown into an "environmental attorney" who "turns his clients (just ahead of jail time and huge fines) into born-again animal/ environmental (fill in the blanks) activists," that is, mandatory community service and hiding the evidence ahead of the jury...
being on the take from billboard companies while pretending to care about some billboard activists in the valley and westside, a carpetbagger who hated L A and didn't lift a finger in public service, living for money and ego: he's already shown himself to be worse than the worst nightmare.
A power-hungry vendetta-obsessed fanatic who's trying to create a huge private police force amidst our budget crisis, wants to hire loads more lawyers, loses HUGE lawsuits like the $8 million to 2 firefighters but hides those...

The real "thanks" go to the deceit he and Cooley/Zine etc. pulled pretending he's NOT a rightwing wingnut variety of Republican.

Misuses the legal staff he does have to harass, threaten and bully officials and volunteers.

He doesn't give a damn about the poor and is a redneck at heart like his coarse little clique.

The guy is SO unbelievably incompetent and a disaster for the city that this is WAY BEYOND POLITICS, this is civic malfeasance of a massive scale.

So many people, former supporters and opponents alike, can hardly wait to get rid of the guy let alone vote for him again or for anyone he endorsed. Shallman is the epitome of slime and nasty.

Essel is OK, not like Trutnuch, but this time the nasty garbage will backfire on him. (Already using the "Armenian ethnic corruption" slur on Krekorian!?! In that case, what does Trutnuch do for Serbians - makes them all look like Slobodan Mlosivic.)

Money talks but only enough to get Chris into the general. Tamar never had a chance and her numbers prove that. Her ego was beyond inflated. Chris will go hysterical soon and Paul will stay cool as a cucumber.

When Chris and her people talk about Paul moving "back" to Burbank, they sound ridiculous considering how far Chris had to travel. Paul already represents a lot of CD 2.

So that's a bad spin Essel workers and John Shallman. Find something else.

Now the neighborhood councils will get fired up because the anti-candidate, Essel is on the ballot.

He didn't and he couldn't because there isn't a grain of truth in what you say.

The truth is that Trutuanich is the antithesis of everything that Jack Weiss and you people are; horribly corrupt, arrogant, fake phony pieces of shit, and that' s an insult to pieces of shit.

6:18, of course the best you can do is the same old litany of ad hominem lies about Weiss because that's all you've got - and can't refute any of the facts about your Nuch idiot. Who's the laughingstock of the city, especially among the more educated: funny, the more educated people are, especially attorneys, the more they see it. We all know where Nuch's people stand on that spectrum. There are so many harshly critical articles and slams about him, of course none of them linked on THIS biased blog. Even Orlov had a sarcastic piece on him 3 days ago, about how he's befuddled at why everyone else thinks his gross ethical lapses and being caught outright lying to get endorsements are significant. Amoral people always ARE "befuddled" about such things.

Go to hell and stop wasting our time with bogus stories about how great you were. You lost the election, you lost the presidency of the Jewish Federation and you lost the Deputy Mayorship at LAX.
