Tamar Picks Up 2 More Endorsements

Tamar Galatzan has just picked up a couple of big endorsements, the first from the LA Chamber of Commerce, and the second from LA City Councilmember Tom LaBonge. VICA (The Valley Industry and Commerce Association) will be hosting a forum on Friday morning for a few select candidates at the Sportsman Lodge. Why they didn't invite all of the candidates for CD2 only serves to expose where VICA's limited mentality lies. By the way, it will cost you $20 bucks to attend the forum, unless you are a member of VICA's hilariously ego driven named "Circle Of Influence" (anything to make members feel important, eh, VICA?).

More details over at the CD2Election Blog.

The world is closing in on Essel.

All the money and no campaign.

What a joke she is.

That L.A. Chamber of Commerce endorsement really helped Adeena Bleich. Wha'd she come in, third?

I agree that the LA Chamber endorsement means little for Tamar (her endorsement by the Young Dems is far more valuable, even if she paid for it). However it's interesting in that its a big slap in the face to Essel who hob-knobbed with those guys for years. Obviously Brandon got his VICA buddies to arrange that for Tamar.

Joe agree with you on VICA. It has to be the most useless organization in town. They have no vision for the Valley and really do nothing towards creating a better business environment. The San Fernando Valley could be a center for business like Silicon Valley or Orange County. Hell even goofy liberal Santa Monica and San Francisco have FAR better environments for business than LA. If we don't start creating high end jobs in LA soon all this development is going to be for naught; LA will be a third world nation on the Valley and basin floor with a smattering of rich people in the hills.

VICA exists primarily for a few useless business "leaders" in LA to beg and plead with the Downtown Elite to include them in some of their reindeer games. They are lapdogs for the developers and city politicians who either don't care or don't get the Valley. The VICA bozos were there with Dick Riordan when they replaced the GM Plant in Van Nuys with a Home Depot and a Hometown Buffet and said that the Valley was "not only back but better." I think VICA's most recent activity was to "honor" Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In as a legendary Valley "business." While the Valley burns they celebrate a show that's been off the air over 35 years and half the cast died long ago. You would think that at least they would honor the porn industry that's a business that does drive some of the Valley economically.

So VICA's event is useless and laughable. Who is emceeing it? Gary Owens? VICA is truly the last gasp of White SFV.

10.56 What do you mean by "seal it".The defeat?
Hope she is savvy to reject this Trojan horse...........

Tamar campaigned for Jack during his campaign - she arranged the LACYD endorsement for him and arranged a network of supporters at the city attorneys office in the promise of promotions. Jack owes Tamar for all her hard work, even if it did not work, it was not her fault. Tamar is very much like Jack - socially well connected, strong on the environment and immigrant rights. Jack will raise a ton of money for her and probably do it quietly because even he knows that his name will not help her - at least not publicly.

Well Michael, this is definitely one of the first posts where we have been totally and 100% in sync. VICA is just a worthless, nothing group of old white nobodies. They exist simply to endorse bad developments and simply any business even if it's a bad project, just because they think they have to.

Who would care about their endorsement? Especially in CD 2. They are the type of people who typically are politically savvy, whether from the north in Sunland or the south in Sherman Oaks. They share the same issues whether it's development on open space in the north or on Ventura Boulevard in the south.

I think that this city council election is going to be one of the biggest shockers we've had in Los Angeles in a long, long time and I don't think it's going to be any of the 3 who expect to win. No Essel, Galatzan or Krekorian.

To the fool that commented on "Lobbyists' money"

Lobbyists are prevented by law from donating any money to any candidate for City of Los Angeles offices.

Learn what you are talking about before you post inanity.

Mr Inanity (8:03 AM):

What about the wives and family members of lobbyists? Employees? Partners? Friends? What about fundraising/bundling that lobbyists perform?

If you think lobbyist money is out of L.A. politics, then you are really naive... or a lobbyist.

10.56pm and 11.41pm Why are you trying to undermine Tamara with Weiss. He has not and will not endorse her.

Tamar, great going. Two new endorsements!!!

That makes a total of.....two.

Tamar, you are behind the curve; start kicking some ass and taking some names.

Really, how dare anyone try and say that there is no lobbyist money involved in city council campaigns. That is just downright funny. Go to the ethics commission at the city website and pull down the names of the lobbyists and then start connecting the dots.

On the other hand, if you're so politically retarded about where the money comes from, you won't be able to handle following the money at the website.

August 21, 2009 1:50 AM

So, Genius, how do you "connect the dots" when the lobbyists cannot give money in their own names?

Are you going to send us a list of aliases or something?

Lobbyists have learned how to play the game iwthout leaving their fingerprints and you expect amateurs to figure it out by searching the donations?

You must be David Saltsburg, or someone as naive as he to think that way. Grow up.
