"Green Hypocrisy" from the Likes of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, DWP, Former Speaker Fabian Nunez, Cindy Montanez and the Sierra Club

"Green Falsehoods and Green Payouts, from and to, Friends of Villaraigosa"
Sadly for true conservationists, today's story in the Los Angeles Times reminds us how preservation of our natural world, has been co-oped by the "Eco-left". Those, who's leftist, anti-business agenda is masked by a progressive ecological agenda.
The likes of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, former Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, State Senator Fran Pavley, the Sierra Club and other members of the "Eco Labor Left" tout their green creed with legislation such as AB-32 which is suppose to reduce our state's "Carbon Footprint" but is in really, producing mass "footprints" of businesses leaving California.
Who can blame our state's business community for wanting to escape "carbon offset accessments" which are based upon some dubious science theory, that hijacks the concept of "Natural Climate Change" and spins it into industrial caused, "Global Warming" ??
And with the DWP, the Nation's Largest Public Utility, now wanting to spend our utility payments on the likes of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez and former Assemblywoman Cindy Montanez to help DWP lobbyists in the quest of lowering our "Cap and Trade" cost. I propose that Mayor Villaraigosa, Speaker Nunez, Montanez and their allies on the "Eco-left" come forward and state the following.
And with the likes of Fabian Nunez and Cindy Montanez, who are endorsed and honored by the Sierra Club's Angeles Chapter for their environmental and political leadership. They have a "green cover" to insulate them in helping the DWP, usurp the very legislation they championed in their previous political incarnation.
Then there is this, name the DWP's Human Resources Director, who's job is to create the job discriptions for the likes of Nunez and Montanez ??
That would be Susana Reyes, who is in her private time, the Los Angeles County Co-Political Director for the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club.
And one wonders why there is a growing backlash against "Global Warming".
Your thoughts.................

Whether global warming is real or not has no relation to the crooked scumbags who are trying to make bank on it.

It's real.

AnVil and friends are major major scumbags.

Unless people wake up, the earth doesn't stand a chance.

I don't fully agree with all the points of this "Green Hypocrisy" piece, but in general Mayor V's green initiatives have panned out to be trash.

Take, for example, his Million Trees LA Program. First off, the program existed before him as "Tree for A Green Los Angeles", a LADWP Program that was modeled from a very successful SMUD (Sacramento) Program. Mayor V branded it "MTLA" and pitched it as a Mayoral initiative. This pissed LADWP off immensely since they are paying for 90% of the MTLA Program, but not getting any credit.

This also added enormous layers of bureaucracy and MTLA now has caps on how many trees each partner can plant. Currently all the partners CANNOT plant any trees until 2010 because each partner has planted their petty allotment made available by MTLA. Call MTLA and ask them why that is - 213-473-9951. Also ask them about the other items listed below.

MTLA is operating in a manner I consider illegal. It is a Mayoral (City) program, so it qualifies and receives funding through City channels. In addition to that, MTLA is set up as a non-profit (501c3) and is applying and receiving funds through that manner as well. Community Partners set up the 501c3 and for this, they should be investigated for not seeing the conflict on interest. Carlos Alvarado handled the Community Partners end of the deal - no surprise, a total Mayor V. coat-tail rider.

MTLA receiving funds through its MTLA farce umbrella takes money directly away from the non-profits that have been greening Los Angeles for decades - the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, North East Trees, TreePeople, and others.

Additionally, how the funds being raised by MTLA is spent should be investigated. Recently MTLA improved a City owned site and gave a sweetheart lease deal to one of the partners to have their office on the site - almost expense free! When the Hollywood Beautification Team needed space due to their facility construction, MTLA did not help. Why did they pick the specific partner they did for the East LA site? Something worth investigating - I guarantee you will find a TV series type drama behind it.

And on that note, of course we all know Lisa Sarno is running MTLA, so I don't think we should expect much else besides corruption and sweetheart deals to her friends.

Earlier this year, Korean Air donated $160,000 to Million Trees LA. In return, LACC and other tree partners planted trees and had a large community event with 300 youth. On the surface this looks legit. But below the surface, the expenses for the event and tree planting were paid by LADWP and SCAQMD. Meaning the $160K was pure profit and went straight to MTLA to spend as it wishes (likely used to absorb Lisa Sarno's salary and to offset the Mayor's deficit).

Oh wait. I forgot. There is an annual "Youth Conference" that MTLA puts on in December. A hand-picked collection of vendors (based on what they donated) are able to show their "green-ness" as MTLA pays to have 3,000 youth bussed in from all corners of the City. I doubt this is what Korean Air wanted their funds to be used for. Or the other funders that have donated several million dollars to "green" LA.

All of this is extremely unfortunate because the non-profit groups that were and are doing the work now have to suck up to Lisa just to get simple funds to transform and improve Los Angeles. And typically the areas MTLA wants improved do not coincide with what areas need it most.

In the end, fewer opportunities for youth (mostly at-risk) are available, agencies are handcuffed until (if they are lucky) to get Lisa's golden nod, and it takes longer for trees to be planted with MTLA directing everyone.

Again, Mayor V.'s "green" initiatives are corrupt and border on green-hypocrisy. Mayor V. is getting confused, "greening" does not mean using good intentions to fill his own pockets/offset his deficit/give sweetheart deals to his friends.

From a standpoint of a manager who is responsible for outcome. What are we getting for the fees we pay Cindy and Fabian? Or is it taxpayer relief for "outstanding" former elected officials with no record of producing anything. If that suck ass Nahai were held accountable for what goes on we would see him for what he is, a blowhole for the mayor. If it smells like 3 day old road kill it just might be.

DWP is nohting more than Antonio's slush fund to keep his minions in line. Nothing satisfies an uneducated adult more than a $250,000 a year salary - right Cindy?

Didn't Alatorre also have a problem with DWP. Look for that commissioner that spoke up to be replaced soon.

I saw this poster around town and was angered by it... because every word on it is a lie.

"Thanks for fighting against dirty energy?"

A lie. Villaraigosa fights FOR corrupt politics and backdoor cash grabs.

"Coal gone by 2020"

Another lie. Villaraigosa will be gone by 2013...probably sooner if the Feds are sniffing around Huizars office.

Coal will still be around.

"SUCCESSFUL"

Does anyone think this one word shot was NOT motivated by the Los Angeles Magazine headline "FAILURE" a month or two ago??

This poster makes me sick.

It reeks of the stench of Communist propaganda.... all is well...our "Great Leader" says it is so....

It's a sad day in Democracy when Red Spot censors this blog without any merits!!!!

Today, August 11, 2009, the Los Angeles Civil Grand Jury was at Los Angeles City Council chambers. Is this a historical day? Does anyone know why the Civil Grand Jury was there?

ANOTHER GROUP OF REASONS TO BRING REAL REFORM TO THIS CITY BEFORE WE HAVE A COMPLETE FINANCIAL COLLAPSE. I'M ALL FOR GREEN APPROACHES WE NEED TO START THIS DIRECTION 10 YEARS AGO. BUT ALL THIS BAD LEADERSHIP AND THE EXCLUSION OF INPUT FROM BUSINESS AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR HAS LIMITED WHAT WE CAN AFFORD TO DO. THE DWP SHOULD LOOK AT ALTERNATIVES BUT IT NEEDS TO BE BROADER BASED THAT ANY ONE AGENCY. COST BROUGHT DOWN WITH GROUP PLANS WHICH WILL ENABLE SMALL BUSINESS AND STACKHOLDERS TO CONTRIBUTE BY USING CLEANER MORE EFFICIENT POWER AND WATER SAVING TECHNIQUES AT REDUCED COST.
