Saturday Morning Shorts......

"What will Councilwoman Janice Hahn get from AEG ??"
Shout out to Community Activist and former City Attorney Candidate Noel Weiss, your favorite councilperson is in need of some direct intervention right now before she falls into the abyss of political suicide.
Who in their proper mind set would want to be seen holding hands with AEG's Tim Leiweke and the Jackson Family, considering the mounting backlash over the cost of providing public services for an non-permitted event ??
So while the likes of City Controller Wendy Greuel, City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, Councilman Dennis Zine and a vast majority of Angelinos are calling on AEG to pony up the cost for their non-permitted event. Councilwoman Hahn did this according to the Los Angeles Times.
While Zine has railed against the costs of the memorial, Councilwoman Janice Hahn offered a different view, saying the city benefited from the Jackson memorial. Today, Hahn introduced her own motion calling for a complete accounting of the tourism benefits derived from the memorial, saying it promoted Los Angeles as a global destination for Jackson fans.
“Los Angeles really looked good to the world,” she said.

Was Councilwoman Hahn channeling the thoughts of AEG's Tim Leiweke at the time of her motion ??

Did AEG's Tim Leiweke make some future promises to Councilwoman Hahn regarding monetary backing for a parcel tax to support gang handouts, errrrr, creation of new gang prevention and intervention programming ??

Noel, if you could of heard the words that were directed toward Councilwoman Hahn on the radio airwaves yesterday, you would call Janice at her City Hall Office at (213) 473-7015 and tell her for the sake of her political career to cease with this charade.

After all Noel, caring is intervening to save one from further political harm, especially when it is self-inflicted.

Other news:

**Judge accused of bribery attempt

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has been indicted on charges of trying to bribe his opponent in a 2008 election campaign, a spokesman for state Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown said Thursday. Judge Harvey A. Silberman and two political consultants are accused of trying to induce Deputy Dist. Atty. Serena Murillo not to run against him in the June 2008 election -- apparently unsuccessfully, because she did run, losing by a margin of 53% to 47%. The three are accused of two counts each of solicitation.

Brown spokesman Scott Gerber said the two political consultants, A. Randall Steinberg and Evelyn Jerome Alexander of SJA Strategies, pleaded not guilty, and Silberman's plea was postponed until a judge could be designated from another county to hear the case. All three were released on $20,000 bond.

KRLA's Kevin James last night equated this indictment to what Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa did for Ricardo Lara and Cindy Montanez in appointing them to the Planning Commission. Thus, deciding not to challenge John Perez for Assembly and the "Zorro Marxist", Richard Alarcon for City Council respectively. Makes you go Hmmmm.

**Downtown News: "City Officials Cautious After El Pueblo Audit"

However, while 14th District City Councilman José Huizar and a representative of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa both said they agree with the general findings in the audit and believe rents should rise, they stopped short of supporting the report’s recommendation that tenants pay market rates of $2.65-$6.75 per square foot a month.

One does not want to bare the wrath of Carol Jacques ??

**From the "Dot Dot Dish Column" at the Downtown Garment and Citizen:

BOO-HOO: 45th District Assemblymember Kevin DeLeon sent out word that tobacco giant Phillip Morris has made him a target of mailers and a phone campaign in a bid to pressure him into opposing a tax hike on tobacco products as part of plans to fix the state’s $26 billion budget deficit. Sorry for all of that pressure, Assemblymember—reckon that’s a downside of having one of the few secure jobs in the district. Let us know when you and your pals in Sacramento balance the budget. Meanwhile, excuse us while we focus on those other mailers that are going to so many of your constituents—layoff notices, furlough orders, foreclosure proceedings, etc…

Couldn't said it better....................

Your thoughts................., and great weekend to all.

Actually Wet Spot, if you got your "news" from sources other than that loon Kevin James, you'd know that lots of people see Trutanich and Zine for the "chest-thumping, attention-seeking" (Kevin Roderick ETC. ETC. ETC/) loons they are. Even the way conservative commenters at Daily News etc. see this as a really stupidly anti-business stunt, especially stupid for Republicans. Not that it's hard to agree with Janice being a birdbrain, as your hero James calls her, but for different reasons.

My take is in the middle: AEG AND the Jacksons should pay, but Zine and Trutanich knew MORE about the city's plans for the memorial funeral than ANYone, having been kept informed minute by minute by LAPD and now trying to treat AEG like some Evil Corporation is pure Zine-Trutanich moronic showmanship. Janice has never been above saying stupid things to grandstand but they SO top her.

Kevin James said that Antonio and others like Hahn are protecting AEG because it gave to most council elections and so this is "corruption" and more "evidence for the Antonio recall file."

But James AND Zine even said that Antonio getting private donors INCLUDING AEG to pony up for the Lakers parade (after Parks, Perry and Zine just wrung their hands about the cost) was "evidence for the Antonio recall file" because it was all so he could have his photo ops.

Like, really? There was no other compelling reason to have the parade, like that if the Magic or any other city had won they'd have have had a HUGE parade and we'd have looked totally pathetic if we didn't? Yeah it's a shame about the riots the night before but the LAPD rose to the occasion superbly. Under the Chief James always calls "Ratton." Because he's so stupid I guess.

There is NOTHING on earth the Mayor can do or ANY company that's associated with his administration that he will NOT call corrupt and twist facts in a way that puts them into his stupid "recall file" that he and Phil Jennerjane share.

James is the stupid one, plain and simple. A bigoted moron, bigoted not only against Democrats, moderate Republicans and "elitists" but frankly women too.

Why did he call JUST Jan Perry "stupid, an idiot, a moron, an incompetent" but Zine a hero? And frankly the only blacks he likes are conservatives like Larry Elder their token "see we're not racist" blacks OR like the Shaws, speaking out against illegal immigrants. In other words being HIS mouthpieces.

James isn't even funny like those other ranters Jon and Ken or Doug. When he calls Perry those names he should like in the mirror and repeat it a dozen times.

Actually, bravo! to Kevin James for finally noticing what has been posted on this blog many times. When you give someone something of value to take an action in politics, it is a bribe. Plain and simple. When Antonio cuts all those deals, he is committing bribery.

The judge accused of bribery is a shock. So is the accusation that Evelyn Jerome is involved. Wow!

Finally, keep the heat on Carol Jacques at El Pueblo. She is one of the most miserable, mean spirited, nasty, fake, untrustworthy people in the world. No shock she didn't solve any problems. All she does is criticize everyone else, and fight for her own disturbing agenda. She belongs out of politics.

Judge rules on attorney fees in HUNT vs City of Los Angeles.
City ordered to pay $207,000 [of some $290,000 sought].
It brings the total ordered now to $475,000.
All over incense and shea butter at Venice Beach.
hello City Attorney Trutanich: contact my attorney Steve Rohde and we can end this because your guys have appealed but clearly its not looking good if the judge is giving us 207,000 in attorney fees already.

I mean, if we had no shot, how did you end up 1/2 a million in the red already?

Whoever cancelled the Lotus Festival is a real jerk.

That event makes some income for the city and some jobs for the locals. And, it brings people of all nationalities together.

Maybe Dennis Zine can look into finding out who the stupid person was that cancelled the Lotus Festival.

To show how out of touch Janice Hahn is she wants to move forward with another gang tax out from property owners. Is she as stupid as she looks? YUP. She's the biggest lame brain on council although it is a toss up with the rest of the morons sitting around her. These council people are a joke and now Hahn wants to have her own bill for memorial. WTF?? Even her own staff say she embarrasses them when she speaks out.

The million and a half the memorial is costing will be a fraction of what the police and district attorney end up spending on the hunt for who prescribed Jackson all of his drugs. The guy was spending 40k a month at a BH drug store. Inspector Gadget could have cracked this case if it was important. Since when do we focus on celebrity drug abuse. People will be running on Mr. Jackson's death for many elections in the future

What does Villaraigosa's appointment of Cindy Montanez to the Planning Commission have to do with her dropping out of the race against Richard Alarcon?

It's not like the Planning Commission is a paying job. It isn't. I don't get the correlation. Villaraigosa said to Cindy, "Hey, if you drop out of the CD 7 race that pays $179,000/year, I'll make you a Planning Commissioner that pays $0. How about that Cindy?!" And she says it's great and goes along? I don't get it. Why does someone always post that as if there's something to it?

To the people complaining about the 'cancelled Lotus Festival":

You really should keep up with the news before you make accusations and complaints.

There was a festival this weekend renamed the Echo Park Neighborhood Festival as there are no longer any lotuses. They all died inexplicably.

In addition to Cindy Montanez getting the planning commission post she was also offered a position on a sacramento commission that's part tim e but pays well over $100K. So do your google search and you'll find this information was published in the media. The problem is that no one put two and two together. A deal was made plain and simple. There are many other moves like this. Just check other players in politics who are sitting in positions until they get their place at the front of the line. So, Cindy Montanez benefited by not running and t\she gained this position in Sacramento. She also holds a part time position at DWP and getting paid a lot of money. Someone should investigate this.

Hey Nuch:

Fire the idiot lawyer your predecessor used against Matt Dowd and Mike Hunt. Anybody loses to that pair of morons deserves to be assigned back to traffic court.

After you win the appeal, try the case yourself. You will kick their inane asses all the way back to Australia.

Then deport the illegal alien.
