QUETZAL on the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN PIMPING THE BARRIO AS JOSE HUIZAR"

, an East Los Angeles-based group, turned down an invitation to perform at a May 17 concert ("Fiesta Shalom" - seriously) designed to improve Latino-Jewish relations because it was sponsored by the Israeli consulate. The band issued the following statement.
To Whom It May Concern:
Quetzal will not be performing at the Fiesta Shalom on May 17th. When first presented with this performance, it was presented as “an opportunity to improve Jewish and Chicano relations”, which we are certainly in accordance with. When we received the contract, we noticed it was sponsored by the Israeli Consulate. For Quetzal to perform for the Israeli Consulate would mean that we ignore the following:
• Decades of zionist occupation of Palestinian lands and the historically ironic holocaustic genocide of the Palestinian people
• The Israeli/US relationship that has permitted the creation of “permanent” war against people throughout the world.
• Decades of Chican@ solidarity with the Palestinian people and their struggle for Self-determination.
• Decades of solidarity with the non-zionist, non-imperialist peace-loving Jewish community.
• Over 500 years of genocide, enslavement, and abandonment of all people of color as well as poor whites including all the victims of the Jewish holocaust.
Quetzal is but a small part of a massive community of artists that is committed to using art as a tool to redefine and reconstruct our neighborhoods. We hope that elected officials (barrio pimps) such as Jose Huizar begin to see the light of accountability.
Some thoughts, many of us in CD 14 love the music of Quetzal, but the rhetoric espoused above, can be found on the ethnophobic pages of "La Voz de Aztlan".
But most may agree about the Jose Huizar comment.

my thoughts red spot are that you have a fascination with huizar.
I'm joining the person who keeps writing that "Nobody cares."
This is one of the biggest who cares of all time. I can't even tell if it's about Huizar, the Latinos or the Jews. Or music. Or a music festival.
Something for everyone to dislike. Red snot, as much as people seem to hate Higby, please just shut the blog down until he comes back. You suck more than this post!

It is a known fact in CD 14 that Henry Casas had an affair with Celina Mancia, staffer from the Boyle Heights Office. Huizar discovered this affair in early January shortly after Casas was arrested for spousal abuse.

Yes freedom of speech... The fact of the matter Huizar is a public servant who is paid with American taxpayer monies and the reality is he doesn't do a damn thing for Los Angeles City Council District 14. He is lazy... He hides, he doesn't allow anyone to speak at Town Hall meetings and he sucks as an orator. Real bad!
It's time for Huizar to move on and be Mr. Mom. Relocate to Mexico because he's always giving American taxpayer monies to Mexico which could be used to buy childrens' books for libraries in the poorer communities in CD 14.
