¿El Senador Ed Reyes? *

Ed Reyes has filed the paperwork to run for Gil Cedillo’s senate seat should Cedillo beat out Judy Chu for the seat vacated by Hilda Solis in the 32nd Congressional District. La Opinión with the exclusive:

El primero en salir de la línea de partida, al menos en expresar oficialmente su intención de candidatearse es Ed Reyes, concejal del Distrito 1 de Los Ángeles que representa el área de Pico Union. Reyes, de 50 años de edad, acaba de presentar el papeleo de intención para el puesto de Cedillo en el Senado.

Maybe, maybe, a real contest in CD1? Who’s in?

*Update: Wrong Ed P. Reyes.  A commenter writes:

This story was begun by the erroneous update of the Target Book in Sacramento - a publication created by a bunch of old, white, former political guys who can't get real work.

Verified. … California Target Book had the wrong guy.

Kevin De Leon and Monica Garcia will run for City Council. That leaves a fight for the 45th. Call in the three candidates from that time period. Treematch for the 45th!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a joke right? You can't be fucking serious that this clown Ed Reyes would even think he has a chance in hell. All any opposing candidate has to do is tell everyone about the young Latinas he's been with on his staff. Tell the people that even though the community opposed a licquor license for his girlfriend Alice Corona he did everythng to help her including making sure she got the $1 million for her business.

830 what are you talking about? Latino culture ADMIRES a middle aged guy like Ed Reyes screwing the girls on his staff.

You obviously don't know what appeals to them. Treating their constits like a banana republic dictator, allowing the free flow of alcohol, gangs and single motherhood. And most of all, screwing the young girls on his staff even though he is married.

Ed Reyes sounds like a runaway candidate.

The same way, the blacks always like to give third fourth and fifth chances to people, which is why Bitter Bernie Parks hired caught and disgraced former council man mike hernandez. HIS obesity and drug habit didn't keep HIM out of city hall did it? He should be shunned for the disgusting mess that he is. Hiring him didn't cause Bitter Bernie HIS job did it?

I first found out how much Ed Reyes likes young girls when he had the nerve to say in council when comparing a situation to that of "Britney Spears". sounded like a pedaphile. Ed is disgusting old fart who still thinks he has it. He likes to grand stand and pretend he knows what he's talking about. This group of morons in citiy council are the worst in the history of this city.

Oh no...please let this be a prank.

Ed Reyes has no business being a City Council Member, much less imposing more economic damage from Sacramento.

This is an example of a clear good news/bad news situation where both options leave you horribly depressed.

IF youi run Ed for Senator, Parke, do what Lloyd did in his first city council campaign. Throw his ass in the closet and tell him to come out for the victory party. That is the only way he will win. Ed is his own worst enemy.

Phil, here is your chance to distract every body from an important election.

This time maybe you will raise $500 and talk about your virtually non existent organization.

What is the larger number, how many dollars phil can raise or how many republicans there are in Los angeles?

Great article about Ron Kaye's book on the Daily News today. Not on Mayor Sam but on LA Observed.

Roderick's ability to address things of interest to people, unlike the slander and immaturity here on Mayor Sam, is why this blog has been sucking air for a long time. Who knew that Phil GenderJane would have such a bad impact?

With the power of the internet these candidates run into major issues that the local media doesn't report. Love McIntyre going off on Antonio for being the only one that hasn't laid off any of his staff or any city workers. Good for Zuma Dogg going after special events wwaivers and calling clowncil members "Stupid." They are by far the dumbest, arrogant, corrupt pieces of crap in the city. They just gave away anotehr $100,000 in special fees yet the Mayor today said LA is in a financial emergency.

WRONG ED REYES.

This story was begun by the erroneous update of the Target Book in Sacramento - a publication created by a bunch of old, white, former political guys who can't get real work.

The email states:

SD22 (D-Cedillo)

Yesterday's Hot Sheet reported that Los Angeles City Councilman Edward P. Reyes has filed a Statement of Intention to run for this seat.

WE HAD THE WRONG EDWARD P. REYES.

The individual who did file an SI is EDWARD PAUL REYES, a 33 year-old Los Angeles law student who ran for the Los Angeles City Council in 2005 in District 9, coming in third (14%) behind Jan Perry (64%) in a three candidate race.

The young Mr. Reyes is a Marine Corp. veteran, former teacher with the LAUSD, graduate of Jefferson High School, received his bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and his master's degree from UCLA.  He is now taking law courses at Liberty University.

I have a question for Phil, who I hope also answers the questions the other commentor asked about attendance.

Phil, why did you feel you should go directly to run for Mayor instead of the far more reasonable office of City Council.

Hate him if you must, but that is the same mistake that Walter Moore made, and he is far, far, FAR more accomplished and educated than you are.

Try to not come back with a name calling response Phil. It's just the truth. So what is the answer? Why did you feel you were best serving the people (or is it yourself?) by not running for Mayor, City Council or for that matter, Neighborhood Council?

May 13, 2009 4:59 PM

459, Reyes is Phil's type of guy, except he is successful to a measure.
