Greig Smith and his Promises
Labels: fraud waste and abuse, greig smith
This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

"I believe neighborhood councils and NOT some downtown bureaucrat....ought to know what's best...." greg smith
now do you believe us that its ALL lip service???
and if it is...like I think it is...then who needs neighborhood councils anyway?
look at 'Bradley' for a case in point.
they're an excuse for infancy cronyism, more factionism, more squabbling between left and right, and more red tape for the average Joe to achieve anything through.
keep neighborhood councils because they provide necessary outreach for City implemented programs, and a platform for constituents to vent their frustrations [not that it will go anywhere, but vent still] and yes, most of these NC participants are do good busybodies who will do it regardless of how much money is in the pot.
don't kid yourself though that neighborhood councils wield any power. just watch your money get stripped away at will.
if NC's had any power, they'd be getting more money rather than less.

I agree.
I agree with Phil? Now that really creeps me out... :)
But true that it's excellent work Michael. You dig up the most fun stuff on this Smith character. Sometimes I wonder if you dub stuff in or if it really happened!
I feel sorry for those people in Chatsworth and Northridge.

Neighborhood councils are too young to know how to use their power. In due time, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
But some things take time and Los Angeles residents have been ignored and beaten down by their elected officials for so long, they're a bit wary of seizing power. But they will.
Why the heck do you think Smith/Parks want to take away the little bit of money they get?
They are scared.

and all this time today wasted over the paltry NC money, which is nothing, and should be just given, and yet not one of these LACERS fund managers is fired who lost the 7 billion, and yet thats why theres no money for NCs.
FIRE SOMEONE for god's sake.
NC money is way more important than many of the stupid fee waivers that plough through every session.
somehow we're all responsible to pay up[ the 7 billion. hey Greig Smith, instead of hiding your ass under a rock, start accepting the fact that you guys f#cked up.
the guy with the NC embroidered shirt told you to cash out of the stock market nearly two years ago!!!!! Apple shares were $199.
and now, because you f#cked up so bad, oh... lets take back the NC money. its lame, its retaliatory, its vindictive, its insecurity, its pathetic and its contemptible. but wait, we're talking about the Los Angeles City Council, so yes, business as usual.

The problem with Council member Greig Smith is that Smith is a “RINO”, republican in name only.

That's the least of Greig Smith's problems. He has much bigger problems than being a RINO. I happen to believe that you're wrong on that issue, but everyone is entitled to an opinion.
No neck, quirky, Smith is the epitome of a dolt. A dodo bird is what he reminds me of. Gross.

Smith is a lying piece of bird do-do.

Smith's a pompus dick.
Yup, that pretty well covers it.

Greig Smith...where did he come from? Another planet maybe...not the real world!
Only city employess should keep their jobs, but what about the those in California in the private sector who are or have already lost their jobs? Everybody needs to pay!
The city made this mess with a bloated payroll and spending like LA is a bottomless money pit. Private individuals and business must live within a budget. What happend to LA? They should all be fired!
We don't need a Mayor who does photo ops all over the country as well as outside of it, nor a city council who gives our money to whoever asks whether it's inside our city or outside our city. What do they care, it's not their money and when they are out of office, they just hire out as a lobbiest or consultants so they can continue doing the same stuff, soaking us citizens, while they have their hands in developers pockets. Or, they move on to others offices to carry out their tradition.
We need big changes in LA. Let's start with our supposed keepers, the self righteous Mayor and the City Council, with a couple of exceptions and we know who they are!

SMITH NEVER LIKED NC'S THAT'S NO SURPRIZE!!. HE'S NOT INTERESTED IN EMPOWERMENT OF THE PEOPLE EITHER!! THAT'S WHY STACKHOLDERS REALLY NEED TO TAKE BACK CONTROL OVER THIS GOVERNMENT BY REFORMING THE BROWN ACT AND THE CITY CHARTER AND GAIN CONTROL OVER DEVELOPMENT AND THEIR SPECIFIC PLANS. THE START IS TO REFORM CAMPAIGN FUNDING CUTTING THE COST TO RUN FOR ELECTED OFFICE WHICH WOULD ALLOW ANYONE TO SEEK OFFICE, NOT A SELECT FEW.
