Eric Garcetti on Neighborhood Council Budget Cuts

I suspect the NC budgets will be cut by no more than what the Mayor proposed.
There will be a large turnout on Tuesday for the B&F meeting, and again on Friday for the CC meeting.
This issue has become huge if I measure that by the number of emails I am getting, and I don't see Smith or Parks getting their way.
Glad to see Garcetti is in our camp!

Want a good laugh and see how low the Mayor has gotten? Look at caption #2 posted in the Huffington Post of your mayor.

I bet all the trips Antonio has taken to Washington and all over the place would have helped neighborhood councils keep their budgets. Why isn't the lazy media reporting when he's out of the like they use to?

I've deleted comments and will reject/delete comments that have nothing to do with the topic at hand and are just rants by you know how who has severe anger issues at this blog.

Posting comments speculating on Phil's sexuality because you don't like his politics has nothing to do with funding for neighborhood councils.

Sorry, you've abused your toy and we need to take it away. There are other places for you to vent, try Twitter. Or your own blog.

Higby,

So now they are calling me a homosexual?
Good. I must be upsetting someone.
(Clearly, they didn't see my video on Fox where I said I voted YES on 8 and I'd do it again..!!))

They might be upset, but not nearly as much as I am.
I wake up every day to find myself living in a Socialist nightmare with freedom being stripped from my fellow citizens day by day.

Name calling is the least of my worries.

Mr. Garcetti sounds like someone who's running for Mayor...

...he's still a scumbag !

He knows that the NC money is peanuts, and that he can score a lot of points with the voters by restoring it.

It's an easy call!

He even gets to step back to his roots as a liberal and open/inclusive/transparent government guy, even though he's really become a Developer/Chamber of Commerce/Special Interest guy, a pure politician, a creature of ambition, power, and greed, who doesn't give a damn about you and me...if he wasn't always secretly always like that.

To find out the truth about our Council President Eric Garcetti, who stacked the PLUM committee with only three members, all pro-developer, who sheperded the Density Bonus and Developer Incentives Ordinance through the voting process for the Developers (which led to two lawsuits, and a judge throwing out parts of it), who presided over a Council that repeatedly cut the miniscule Animal Services Dept. budget, while prioritizing $$ for more planners to expedite EIR's for Big Developers, and has presided over a Council that has led our City to the brink of Bankruptcy by catering/caving to Special Interests, go to:

http://www.gary4citycouncil.com/index.html

and watch the whole video.

Garcetti spent TONS of $$$ against this humble, idealistic Public Interest Interest attorney who ran against him, and the guy STILL got almost 30% of the vote !

...which shows, a lot of people don't like Garcetti in his District...

and this NC mess is like a gift from the heavens...and he's gonna milk it for everything it's worth.

Phil,
Exactly how are you living in a Socialist nightmare? How are your particular freedoms being stripped away? Please be specific.

Phil,,
Before moving to LA, I lived in Canada. My social security number [which they call social insurance] was all I needed to go to any doctor or specialist of my choosing whenever I chose to go. Now that's what I call freedom. Here I have no medical insurance and therefore have many limitations of choice.

I don't know what kind of nightmare you are living in but I don't think it's Socialist.

How can Angelenos trust these politicos? Remember when Council President Eric Garcetti hid the PA Consulting report from the PUBLIC regarding Measure B.

Joe B.

President Obama recently fired the CEO of a private automobile corporation. Something a President has absolutely no business doing. With the bailouts, he is using taxpayer money to reward failure and seize control of private industries...which is an attack on the free market economy and harmful to successful businesses.

Only two of many, many 10th Amendment violations coming down the Socialist train tracks from him.

And how does that make your world a "socialist nightmare"? You haven't answered my questions. How are your freedoms being stripped away.
Thanks.

Love how he seems so accessible with his "regular guy" white dress shirt, standing in front of a huge patriotic American flag...this guy knows how to work it.

Try to see if you can get a word in with him when you go to City Hall for a council meeting and he's in his power suit...good luck!

Also love the subliminal Paul Koretz sign in the background...another Special Interest, Career Politician...

There's so many of them...it's like a bunch of Lobbyists running our government.

And the masses will vote for Garcetti because he's a good-looking charismatic guy, and he seems like he really cares, and he has a nice hairstyle.

Clearly you have no idea what socialism is.

I agree with Joe. I still think we should take Greg Nelson's advice and every NC board member and stakeholder should be at both meetings to state their feelings and they should also write and cc it to everyone.

Smith and Parks are mental cases and no other council member will go for this craziness. NC's should accept a $5000 cut, which is taking their share of the budget crisis just like the mayor asked them to. At least these two council members showed their true colors and NC's around the city should take this information and remember it. I feel sorry for their constituents who participate in NC's.

Phil, it's politics. Nobody cares if you're gay. Lots of politicians and staffers are gay. The outrageous thing is if it were true... how the hell could you be a Republican?? On that note, I did not read a post stating that you were so I'm glad Higby got rid of it. I wish he'd do the same with Zuma. I'm sick of unnecessary Zuma bashing when it's the same old thing over and over. I wish he would delete away relentlessly on those off-topic rants about Zuma.

The Koretz sign was there because Garcetti, along with Gov. Davis and Assemblymember Price all showed up to walk precincts and rally the troops for Koretz' campaign.

If people are so desperate to insult me, that they have to resort to calling me a homosexual, then I am clearly winning the battle.

Not that it matters, but I'm not gay.

I do have friends who are gay, and they are still upset about my support for "Yes on 8" in the November election.

Like I said in my interview on Fox 11, I want gays to have every right in the world except for one. They don't have the right to dictate terms to the heterosexual community. They don't have the right to re-define the concept of marriage simply because they feel like it.

What does this side conversation have to do with this topic?

Mayor Sam, can you ask them to (or make them) take this conversation onto another string?

It's f***ing annoying !
