Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Sunday

President Obama will visit Southern California next week hosting a town hall meeting in Santa Ana and several other events in Los Angeles.

San Francisco Mayor and California Gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom tweets that he will appear on CBS News Sunday Morning to discuss electric vehicles.

The LAFD reports that an MTA Blue Line train had a run in with a vehicle near 1674 E. 103rd Street in Los Angeles Saturday night. No reports of injuries amongst the nearly 100 passengers on the train and only minor injuries for the driver. This comes just two days after an MTA Gold Line train went out of control in a construction tunnel.

Jack Weiss is telling Rick Orlov fibs saying that "I have been on the public's side my entire career," as he seeks the post of City Attorney in May's general election. Yet Weiss isn't getting much love from his colleagues as Council Member Dennis Zine declares "I just don't think Jack deserves to be city attorney. I don't think he's up to the job."

Walter Moore isn't the only one concerned about potential vote counting shadiness when it comes to tallying some reported 46,000 provisional, absentee and other troubled ballots from the primary election. Downtown Central City East blogger Don Garza is worried the provisional ballot he cast may not be counted.

Higby, can you please correct your misspelling of this sentence:

"Jack Weiss is telling Rick Orlovs fibs saying that"

The "s" you put after "Orlov" makes it read as though Rick is telling the fibs, when in fact, you're trying to say that Jack Weiss is the fibber, which takes no one by surprise.

I don't spew bile about Walter. I give you my views on his comments, actions and policies.

Walter doesn't walk on water. He blew his chance to do something and really took a lot of people for a ride emotionally. I no longer respect him as a leader.

Weiss has a notable ability to inspire contempt in those who observe him. So far, the comments to Orlov's article read:

Jack Weiss is a career politician, just like Villaraigosa and together, they've allowed themselves to be greased by real estate developers into building more condos on the Westside, creating even more traffic on the Westside. We need a new face. I'm voting for Trutanich.

Remember, Jack Weiss was one of the 10-11 council members who opposed Jamiel's Law and wouldn't put it up for debate on the city council.

Read the La Times article about Ben Reznik. I fear to say more.

________________________________________________________

Corruption in the Building Department is ledgendary.
Weiss is it's keeper. Read the list of campaign contributors for a list of the lawless.
_______________________________________________________________

He is so arrogant. If the citizens of LA elect Weiss to be the City Attorney, we should be ashamed. He does not have our best interest at heart. i am voting for Trutanich.
____________________________________________________________

Jumpin' Jack Weiss does just that. Special interests say jump and he obliges. He is just like the Alcalde, Greasy Tony, El Mayor La Raza because he is all for himself and only himself. If any good comes from his actions its because he thinks it will further his hideous political career.

He doesn't care about this city and never did. Just another pig at the civic trough pushing his way in to eat as much as he can as quickly as he can.

Vote for Trutanich for City Attorney.

Weiss is the guy who took illegal laundered contributions from Casden Properties in Weiss' 2001 campaign for City Council.

Weiss is required by law to reimburse either the City and/or the State of California regarding these illegal contributions.

Yet he never has and the virtually useless City Ethics Commission has never taken action to ensure that he does.

And Weiss wants to be City Attorney?

It must be painfully obvious to Wacko that he's finished as the voice of discontented conservatives and independents. The other candidates far outdid Wacko. They showed real class, spoke Spanish, ran their campaigns with zero funds, knew the issues, debated well. If I were a Wacko supporter I'd be thinking that Zuma would've had my money and WON! Same goes for Hernandez. With 250k, David, Phil or ZD would be mayor now.

Did anyone catch the "Mayor" on Channel 7 this morning. Some called asked him about Solar Power and he said Measure B is still out and that it would have meant Solar Power for both residence and businesses. He indicated that he still plans to go ahead with his commitment to it. Oh....also he said how honored he is that the City of Los Angeles has selected him to be Mayor again. Someone also asked if there is any way that the stimulous money will only be used for legal Americans in Los Angeles. He skirted that by saying that he will do whatever the Feds require. When asked why city personnel are provided cars and instead of using their own like any other business employee, his reply was he "asked" the people on his staff to give up their city cars and only some of them complied. Some leader! The ignorant people who voted for him got what they asked for!

Most of the questions were negative to the Mayor and from places like San Bernandino and La Verne. When asked by Adriene if he is going to run for Governor he lied and said he loves being Mayor of LA and didn't answer. Ace Hatchet Man Smith has opened a campaign office in San Francisco. Newsome will be town next week. Why does the Mayor have 4 press people, over 15 city cars, 93 staffers and hasn't cut NOT one person in this budget deficit crisis.
PRESS PEOPLE
Parita Shah
Jonathan Powell
Matt Szabo
Juan Bustamante
16 DEPUTY MAYORS MAKING OVER $135,000 per year and more
OVER 15 CITY VEHICLES
This isn't counting all the council staffers cars, phones, insurance, gas cost, blackberries and no one let go yet????????

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS CITY..

PARTICIPATION

It appears that the City Council and Mayor Villaraigosa are dysfunctional. In the March 3, 2009 City Councilmembers and Mayor Villaraigosa failed to MOTIVATE voters to participate, get out and vote, in our democracy. The city has 1,596,165 registered voters in a city with a population of 3.8 million. Here are the votes our elected official managed to obtain from the total registered voters. It does not include the 46,000 city ballots still uncounted.

Population: 3.8 million
Citywide Registered Voters: 1,596,165
Villaraigosa: 127,955 (8.%)

City Attorney
Jack Weiss: 80,985 (5.1%)

City Controller
Wendy Greuel: 141,034 (8.8%)

CD 1 Registered Voters: 60,784
Ed Reyes: 6,565 (10.8%)

CD 3 Registered Voters: 126, 373
Dennis Zine: 14,782 (11.7%)

CD 7 Registered Voters: 74,512
Richard Alarcon: 7,380 (9.9%)

CD 9 Registered Voters: 70,102
Jan Perry: 5,801 (8.3%)

CD 11 Registered Voters: 158,252
Bill Rosendahl: 16,728 (10.6%)

CD 13 Registered Voters: 80,605
Eric Garcetti: 7,210 (8.9%)

CD 15 Registered Voters: 99,553
Janice Hahn: 9,250 (9.29%)

On March 11, 2009 the City Council voted on a Resolution, that has NO teeth, Supporting Fair Elections in El Salvador. "To monitor the EI Salvador presidential elections taking place on March 15, 2009 to ensure they are FAIR and TRANSPARENT, FREE of INTIMIDATION, and that the DECISION of the VOTERS and RESULTS of the ELECTION WILL BE RESPECTED."

Yet, the City Council wants to discourage NCs from participation by implementing Financial Disclosure when NCs initiate a Council File.

The Deputy Mayors all lost their cars. They all gave them up. Nobody who works for the mayor and drives to city hall and stays there all day, then drives home has a city car. The only ones who do are area representatives who go out into the field and attend meetings and meet constituents. There is just a few extra cars and if you need one, you can check them in and out. The mayor had to be a leader on that and he has a list of people he will have to let go whether he wants to or not.

You don't even know what you're writing about. I guess the mayor really needs better press. Or, you here, just ignore it if it's a good thing he does and just pick up on the bad things and whine and whine. That's more your style.
You don't really want to know what the mayor has done that would please you. It's more fun for you to just bag on him every day.

Friend sets up nonprofit for O.J. Simpson legal fund
The Associated Press
Updated: 03/15/2009 10:42:13 PM PDT

LAS VEGAS - Claiming O.J. Simpson was dealt an injustice, the brother of the football star's former girlfriend is soliciting money to appeal Simpson's conviction and prison sentence on kidnapping and armed robbery charges.

Barrett Prody, 35, has created a nonprofit corporation and an Internet Web site, the Society Against Legal Injustice Inc., to raise money for Simpson.

But Simpson lawyers Yale Galanter in Miami and Gabriel Grasso in Las Vegas said they don't think the fund is needed.

Galanter said Simpson's trial fees and costs were fully paid and his appellate fees and costs were "basically paid." He declined to provide amounts, citing attorney-client confidentiality.

The lawyers said they expected to file an appeal in the next six weeks with the Nevada Supreme Court over Simpson's conviction for the armed robbery and kidnapping of two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room.

10:11pm, The Mayor IS due all the criticism he gets. The idea that city cars should be used for city business and only for city business is not anything that someone at City Hall could not have figuured out earlier.

The Mayor did not have to figure this out himself, and he probably didn't. The reason that it took so long, like most things in the city, is that it was too good a benefit and nobody wanted to be the bad guy. The city attitude should have been to be more frugal and make prudent financial decisions.

There's probably lots more that can be done, but office politics and peer pressure to leave it alone makes change difficult. It's also hard to see scrimping when the Council tosses money around with special event waivers for celebrations and other party events.

That's where the "leadership" in city council should present itself.

Tony is the leader and worries more about being governor than being mayor.
