Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday

The LA Times has a profile of Mayoral candidate Walter Moore of who Cal State Fullerton professor Raphael Sonenshein, said "somewhere between a minor candidate and major candidate. If someone's going to have a splash, it's going to be him . . . but it's not nearly enough to unseat the mayor." Also uncovered by the report is that Moore did not contact the family of slain teenager Jamiel Shaw before pursuing his death as a campaign issue, "We actually heard about it on the radio. We weren't happy with that,"Althea Shaw told the Times. Councilman Dennis Zine accused Moore of playing politics with Jamiel's death telling the fishwrap "The fact is, I just don't think it's appropriate to use a tragedy to run for public office."

In the Times piece Moore also states that "You got people butchering goats in their frontyard. You've got barnyard animals running around." I haven't seen any goat butchering and I don't know if that's a Wiccan ritual but when it comes to barnyard animals maybe Moore means South LA.  Janice Hahn has a solution though - allow each home to have one rooster.  However that might mean a ban from Jan Perry on Kentucky frying those chickens.

Sea creature antics big news at Pulitizer Paperweight winning WWG's "blog."  "An octopus at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium opened a valve on its tank and flooded the place with seawater."

Speaking of our favorite faux Pulitizer prize winning suburban Anglo crank, fresh from the Sherry (Shirley?) Bebbitch-Jeffe cocktail circuit, Westside White Guy blurbs the Zuma Dogg-Craig Rubin incident story and somehow works in a gratituous slam on Weekly Deputy Editor Jill Stewart, one of the only media "outlets" in town that doesn't - unlike Old Kev - take it up the patoot from Villlaraigosa and the LA kleptocracy  - and completely misrepresents a story she's written.  Westside White Guy can push for his press club martini stained status quo but as his beloved fishwraps fold and the government he supports is slowly getting unmasked, the world as Roderick knows it may soon be coming to a drastic and sad end.

I've been having big problems this week with Time Warner cable internet and so have others.  Apparently the cable provider has been the victim of denial of service attacks by hackers.  Credit, Time Warner?

You sound bitter today Higby.

So who are you endorsing for the open offices?

Of course Jill Stewart looks like a fool without a journalistic compass for hiring (and hugely rewriting) Zuma dogg just because he makes "the power elite" uncomfortable as she admitted in one of her blog replies.

Any idiot can accomplish that much and talking without inhibition -- pull any nutjob off Venice Beach, and when it comes to Council, Zine and Hahn do it every day.

Those two along with LaBonge and Rosendahl give white people a bad name in this town. No wonder Zine and Zuma have formed a close bond.

Is Zine going to help zuma when it comes to getting busted though, or does he run from anyone the moment they might tarnish his own image? Take a wild guess.

Jill Stewart use to be a great journalist but seems her cred has gone down the toliet. She makes statements and only has Zuma to back them up with no crime stats. This campaign has been a huge waste of time. I don't agree with everything about Walter but he seems to be the only one who had an intellect worth listening to. The others are a bunch of lame morons who didn't know how to speak, didn't know the issues, had no knowledge of what's really going on in this city and were a bunch of weak weenies not going after Villaraigosa harder.

After several years of cursing Time-Warner I dumped them and went to Verizon Fios. Faster internet, better TV quality, customer service actually reachable. (No, I don't work for Verizon)

If you read the Weekly article you'll see that Westside White Guy Roderick misrepresented Stewart's piece.

She refers to ALL the candidates and more than anyone quotes Walter Moore.

But even if she did use Zuma as a source, so what, he's a good one. Whatever you think of him personally he's at City Hall enough and people know him that they talk. No one has the depth of knowledge what is going on there than Zuma and perhaps the lobbyists. Certainly not the local press outside the Weekly. And certainly not Roderick (or he's just blind to it).

Anyone who has played up that poor nutjob just to piss people off ought to be ashamed of themselves. That includes Jill Stewart, YOU Higby and Ron Kaye. They're/ you're grasping at straws in the ocean while you should be helping this poor fool get his own life together and get help.

Yeah, well, I'm a lobbyist and I know what's going on.

And, I know that Zuma doesn't know anything that isn't already on the street.

Lobbyists are successful because they can keep the level of discussion contained and private, and none of us brags about anything that is accomplished.

The last thing any of us wants is to see our name in the paper.

Saltsburg is the antithesis of this attitude; all he wants is to see his name in the paper, or his image on TV, etc. He tells everything he hears, valid or not, and keeps no secrets.

Thus, he is totally ineffectual about turning anyone, anytime or, for that matter, accomplishing the simplest of goals.

Please do not classify him with professionals who know their business and take pride in being out of the spotlight.

Face it, peeps. Fatso is only in this to raise his clickety-click income from the blog.

Being provocative, or passively aggressive about the endorsements he has yet to make, riles most of us, and increases his income at the same time.

It is very clear that Bill Handel knew what he was talking about when he asked ZD how many people he meets who think he's a nut. (His words, not mine).

We can't have a mayor as bad as Villaraigosa. But it makes no sense to have a lit fuse like ZD, no matter how entertaining or somewhat informed that he might be from hanging around city hall.

If becoming mayor were that simple, someone like Garcetti would have run for it.

If you want to be foolish, and vote for ZD, go ahead. We will have two more years of Antonio before he runs for Mayor. He will lose, and then we'll have the other two years of his second term.

Think things in LA can't get worse? They can. We all know it. Vote for ZD because it's rebellious and fun, then don't come crying to me when we're toasted worse than we already are.

Here's something to think about- while everyone is taking shots at the assorted challengers to Antonio, there's no one who really has any SUPPORTIVE comment for him.

Even his own spinners still rely on the attack instead of finding some qualities of the Mayor's first term.

While all the challengers dispute each other's claims as quality candidates, the need for replacing TONY is one thing they have in common.

The old saying, "If you can't say something nice about somebody, dont' say anything at all."

That's being followed by the Antonio side about their own guy, hence all the hate attacks on anyone else.

There is no debate with Tony because he he's got nothing worthwhile to present, other than the self-serving, but public-exploiting measures that wind up costing dollars to residents just to have projects he can claim credit for.

It's sort of like the LAUSD operated, bringing us the new Belmont and the Arts high school on the site of the old headquarters on Grand Ave., creating the two most expensive high school respectively in the U.S.

Vicky Castro, ex-President of the LAUSD Board wanted a legacy to herself and left that mess she started as a big one. She, like all politicians and like TONY will do, just bail out as terms run out and they leave taxpayers with huge bills, but they moved on.

Tony will do this as the transit tax boost kicks in in July and he's so proud of that "achievement" but it's still over 30 years away from being done- too bad the bill will not wait.

in cd-14

Vote Zuma Dogg, still the more knowledgeable of matters in the city; Antonio only worries about dollars finding their way to him or his special interests and other friends and supportive unions, like he did when DWP's contract was done. It's all votes for him and it costs ZERO dollars out of his pocket.

Can you imagine the Governor's race campaign for TONY? More reasons for him to continue the neglect of LA affairs and more reason to pander and pimp out the city to get more notches in his belt.

Mary's a wacko loon. The only thing of merit Antonio did in office was to forbid her from stepping on city property. Walter Moore seeks to reverse that. I would never vote for any candidate that didn't understand that Mary is a loon. She should pack it up and get out of LA city now that she's been exposed. She's only here praying for a Wacko Moore victory to reinstate her at City Hall. Cast your vote for real change. Wacko is just Antonio with yellow teeth. Cast your vote for Zuma Dogg.
