Recall in San Fernando. Does that mean Pugliese actually has a chance now that Nury Martinez's San Fernando majority has been outed and her credibility is in the dumps?

The LADWP Renewable Portfolio Standard Workshop presentation on Jan.10,2009 at DWP HQ's was very informative and provided a great deal of detail regarding LADWP policy, technologies, and transmission projects. The staff went to great lengths to answer as clearly as possible all the questions from the attendees. However, it did not provide any cost estimates of what the introduction of these renewables will have on the monthly bill of L.A. rate payers.

To have some idea of what we are facing as we introduce renewables into the L.A. grid I made some rough estimates. On the LADWP web site there is a report entitled "Solar LA - The Los Angeles Solar Energy Plan" that does provide energy cost ranges in cents/kwhr for each energy resource type.. Using this data and the resource mix in the same report, ranges of future power cost estimates can be made.
Assuming a midrange value of the renewable resource energy to consist of 1/3 wind (8 cents/kwhr);1/3 solar (15 cents/kwhr); and 1/3 geothermal (10 cents/kwhr); the monthly bill for power for an average resident will increase from 2008 to 2010 by 17% with 20% renewables.
By 2020 with 35% renewable power sources monthly bills will be about 40% higher than 2008.

As the LADWP is very aware, rate payers are extremely sensitive to increases in their monthly bill. It is very important to report to the rate payers and our elected officials, in addition to providing the legislative, technical and environmental issues they face for their future plans, a clear understanding of what impact their decisions have on the monthly bill for the residents and businesses of L.A.

Respectfully submitted,

Did Johannes Mehserle (SF BART transit peace officer) mean to kill Oscar J. Grant III outright, or was he reaching for his taser and made a terrible error?

Higby: "I ate it all"

LaBonge: "Doesn't matter. What year did Lankershim get a road named for himself, and where's the oldest parking meter on it? See? I really am as big a doofus as people think!"

Higby: "Yes, I know. But I'll kiss your ass anyway."

Mayor Teams Up With Lenscrafters

January 13, 2009 -Los Angeles

In the wake of the killing of an innocent 4 year old child

by alleged gang members, the Mayor of Los Angeles has

brought forth a combining of government and commerce to

stave the problem.

Being the incident occurred in broad daylight and the child

was on the sidewalk in plain sight when stuck by a stray bullet

fired from a passing red car allegedly at the hands of gang

members, Mayor Anthony Villaraigosa has come up with a

plan in conjunction with Lenscrafters to check and provide

eye exams to all gang members in the City. Glasses, contacts,

and even laser surgery will be given free of charge with costs

divided by the City and Lenscrafters.

Doing this will prevent these miscalculations by said gang

members and let our City's children remain safe again.

The killer was arrested this morning, a man of Hispanic name aged 25, no legal status given, but that he is a gangmember recently released from STATE prison for a violent crime involving a gun.

Yeah, another one. But before you Jamiel's Law people start yelling about that, note that he was released by the State, not even county and not the city, so this has nothing to do with SO40. And deporting these Latino homeboys is what has created the "transnational" nature of these gangs in the first place, they go home to resume their business, and come and go through porous borders. The cops did not want to give gang name so as not to give "credit" to these attention- craving cholos.

Yesterday the Daily News reported the arrest of a couple of Latino homeboys affiliated with Alabamas gang, who were responsible for a "hate crime" in the killing of a middle-aged man in No Ho a few months ago in Canoga Park. There, Latinos now make up half and blacks only 4% but they're still being targeted by race even though they're not in gangs, like this guy who was taking the trash out at the bowling alley where he worked.

Michael Higby,

It was a pleasure finally meeting you at the NoHo NC the other night. I hope that after watching me speak, you can now understand why I am a much more viable candidate than many of the others on the ballot for Mayor.

Walter Moore? He just doesn't have the right personality or people skills. Too many snotty comments and way too much condescending behavior. I talked to a voter last night who said "he's an asshole". And that comment was from a woman!

Carlos Alvarez and James Harris...they are basically so far left socialists that they are basically Communists. Can't vote for them.

Craig Rubin? He's only protesting his arrest and prosecution (for marijuana distribution) by the city. Not a real campaign.

Bruce Darian? Another protest candidate because he got screwed on a contract to rebuild the Malibu Pier.

Zuma Dogg? I think Zuma is not serious and that his campaign is grudge-driven. He is usually more concerned about promoting Zuma Dogg than anything else. By his own admission.. If the city had let him sell his t-shirts at Venice Beach... he wouldn't be involved in politics right now.

Gordon Turner is a phantom. When you can't find any information about a guy by Googling him...probably not too much chance he will be elected Mayor of Los Angeles.

I really think if people want a new Mayor, it is a realistic choice between me and David Hernandez... (who, by the way also gave a nice speech at the NoHo NC meeting) ...being that we were the ONLY Mayoral candidates with the interest and drive to show up and speak for ourselves and our campaigns.

I thought that Tom LaBonge, showed some real political skills that night by trying to diffuse the rising anger over the parking meter rates by asking people where they went to High School and what they had to eat and things like that. I had underestimated him.
He is actually pretty good with people.
A lot better than I expected.

Phil, surely as prospective mayor, you know that Malibu is not part of los angeles, so why are you dismissing Bruce Darian as a protest candidate?

Please explain this, so you can figure a way to explain this huge oversight of yours.

He seems to get along with people because retarded people always do.

Phil,

Don't embarass yourself, douchebag. You are a clown showing up with your big photo-poster of yourself. I heard. They were laughing. They don't vote for someone cause he has a cardboard standup of themself. Put down the notecards Phil and look up when you speak, please.

People are very glad that you weighed in with your opinion that you do not think I am serious, you clown. I haven't seen you anywhere until election time. But you're gonna talk about me. LOL!
