Ricardo Montalban, 88

Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV's "Fantasy Island," died Wednesday morning at his home, a city councilman said. He was 88.

Montalban's death was announced at a city council meeting by president Eric Garcetti, who represents the district where the actor lived. Garcetti did not give a cause of death.

And of course - he was Khan in Star Trek!

He had a midget, or "little person" sidekick way before it became chic.

Now we have Chelsea Lately with her Chuy, and almost very hip Sweet-16 party for spoiled brats has to feature some "little people" serving as waiters or entertainers, along with a name band and boy stripper. Where did this come from, and when did it go from being un-PC to being so cool? Sort of like having their own chihuahua in a handbag or even trendier, a doggie-stroller.

Ricardo actually had a genuine relationship with his Little Guy, though -- who remembers his name?

Someone is obsessed with jack in a perverse way, worse than the ones who bring zuma up in every post no matter what the topic. Pretty sad.

3:53 pm, this is what I remember about the "Little Guy."

He was called Tattoo in the show Fantasy Island. His real name was Herve Villechaize. He suffered from a thyroid condition, which is why he was small (dwarfism). Villechaize had emotional issues (probably stemming from his health issues) and became an alcoholic. Eventually, he committed suicide. It is all so very tragic.

4:22 I'm with you.

5:03 'Too funny!!!

RIP Ricardo.

R.I.P. Senor Montalban

Thank you for great moments on TV and the screen.

Thank you for conducting yourself with class and dignity when so many others in Hollywood don't.

Thank you for opening doors to Hispanics and other minorities in entertainment.

Thank you for openly saying, as an entertainer, that you believe in God.

Thank you for Mr. Rourke, Khan, Frank Ludwig the "Naked Gun" villian.

And most of all, thank you for introducing us to three most glorious words in the english language . . .

"rich Corinthian leather"

God bless you and thank you.

It has come for Ricardo to take him back to his midget.

Nice to remember him, Sam.

Nicer not to have to read about your loser mental midget candidate.

Ricardo was such a class act. I know he suffered from serious and debilitating back issues for a very long time. He will be missed.
