Memo to President-elect Barack Obama

It has come to my attention that one member of your Economic Transition Advisory Board is part of the problem, not the solution. Just to fill you in, the gentleman in question has spent nearly four years devising ill-conceived, deceptively-sold tax increases and fee hikes on Angelenos, while out-spending the previous administration by more than 30% and running up a nearly half-billion dollar budget deficit.

It would behoove you to promptly transition this man out of your otherwise blue ribbon transition team—and as luck would have it, I’ve come up with the perfect plan to help you do so.

We understand the Obamas are looking to adopt a dog, and that young Malia will require a “hypoallergenic” pup so as not to inflame her allergies. Well, it just so happens that Los Angeles operates one of the largest animal shelter networks in the nation.

So here’s what you can do: send Mayor Villaraigosa home on a “presidential mission” to identify candidates for First Doggy, and help a pooch in the process. After all, these animals desperately need homes, and Los Angeles desperately needs a mayor.

Now that's a great job for AV!
Dogs, not developers or Big Orange corporations, need some big love! How great it would be for AV to lead the charge and find a great home for
some down home hypoallergenic LA mutts!

David Z has a piece on no one but Walter running against the gang banger Mayor. This time though there are hundreds who are going to speak out wherever he goes. Already people are organizing to protest once he starts campaigning. Its amazing how gutless council members are. There is no leadership in this city whatsoever. NONE. Antonio threatens anyone who goes against him and now only in LA are people afraid to run for office. The gang banger Mayor buys off other opponents and now the school board has no opposing views. Sad sad sad state of affairs. Everyone go to www.change.gov and post the crisis in our city.

.....Even though he was a national co-chairman of Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, Villaraigosa landed a coveted spot Thursday on Obama's economic transition team. Two days earlier, he helped secure passage of three local ballot measures that will pour up to $50 billion into new transit projects, public schools and community college buildings.

His work on behalf of those tax hikes -- Measures J, Q and R -- drew high praise from business leaders who had said they were critical to rebuilding the area's infrastructure.

YEAH THANKS TO CHOLO MAYOR AND ARNOLD'S 10% TAX PEOPLE WILL LOSE JOBS, HOMES, EVERYTHING.

Having Villaraigosa be on the his economic committee is like having Michael Jackson baby sit little boys. Why not just put Villaraigosa on the "family values" committee.

I just read the times fluff piece on AV. It's like the Times is the PR wing for his campaign. What a load of crap! Antonio's done a horrible job as Mayor. He's responsible for some of the budget problems. He didn't keep his campaign promises. I have a copy of his antonio2005 website with his campaign promises. Compare what he said he would do with what he's done and that would be NADA.

While campaigning he said "the zoo is no place for elephants." Then he tried to block moving the elephants out. Gita died on his watch, one was finally released but Billy is still there bobbing his head because he's now insane. We could save the $40,000,000 for the new elephant enclosure besides future upkeep.

He said he would make LA a "nokill city for animals." Euthanasia is now up 41%. We're currently killing more animals than ever before. The new shelters are overcrowded and inhumane in an attempt to improve the numbers on paper.

LAUSD. Things are not better but worse. LA schools score lower than most schools in the nation.

Million trees, no way near a million were planted.

Obama is like Antonio. He just wants "people of color" on his committees, commissions. He doesn't care about qualifications.

Antonio had major personal financial issues. He is responsible for some of the economic problems here in LA. He's the last person you'd want on an economic committee.

Please, don't appoint people based on their color. Appoint them based on their ability and track record.

Nothing to get stressed about. AV's presence is symbolic. I can't remember the list right now, I think that the group needed a big city mayor and getting a Latino was a bonus.

AV can't do any harm because he simply doesn't understand how to deal with the economic problems of cities. Anything he says will be ignored.

On the bright side, there's always the chance that he will learn something from the others.

I say people should revolt and not vote for a Mayor. Leave it blank. What does it say that in the nation's 2nd largest city the Mayor is a thug, corrupt, a cheater, sleazy, lying, no leadership, no guts, no class, acts more like a Mafisoso and we're stuck with him. Someone posted on another blog major dirt is being dug up to throw out to the media once the campaign starts. Anyone against the gang banger Mayor will have his bald headed, four eyed weasel Ace Smith go after them. Forget about debating issues Antonio is about revenge.

Heather @ 5:51 a.m.: I say that we should vote for someone who, in my humble opinion, has the best chance for defeating both our the L.A. Times and our current chronically absent Mayor. That person would be Mister Walter Moore, Attorney at Law.

If Mayor "he-whose-name-must-never-be-uttered" thinks $10 million will reelect him for a second term, I believe he will find himself in an unemployment line. Votes, not money, gets a candidate elected.

After all, exactly what has this mayor accomplished for the past 4 years?

1) He was elected on a promise of ridding the city of the allegedly corrupt (but never proven) administration of Mayor Hahn. He's proven himself and his administration to be more corrupt than what he alleged Mayor Hahn to be.

2) He promised to represent all Angelenos equally, but apparently Angelenos of Hispanic ancestry (whether legal or illegal residents according to Federal Law) are more equal, and therefore more deserving of his time and attention.

3) He spends 11% of his time as Mayor actually being present in Los Angeles, and approximately 90% of his time while in Los Angeles is spent favoring one sector of the population over everyone else (which comes to 9.9%)... sheesh, even Hispanic voters in this city are being shortchanged by "His Absenteeship"!

4) He betrayed his family and very attractive wife by launching an extramarital affair with a Telemundo reporter 19 years his junior. During his affair, he once showed up at a CRA meeting drunker than a lord.

5) He's launched some ill-fated projects: taking control of LAUSD schools, the "Million Trees Initiative," to name two.

6) He appointed (then later fired) very unqualified people to become Department General Managers:
Gloria Jeffs, Department of Transportation (DOT).
Lisa "If You Will" Sarno, Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE).

As a fellow Angeleno once remarked to me, he's good at four things:

1) Raising City taxes on L.A. businesses and homeowners.

2) Raising City fees on L.A. retail owners and property owners (trash fees, for example).

3) Collecting his 100% of his taxpayer-funded mayoral paycheck for 11% of the work the taxpayer/voters elected him to do.

4) Getting caught almost literally with his pants down.

We voters need to elect someone who will exercise both personal self-control, and excel in fiscal responsibility as Mayor. That person, in my humble opinion, is Mister Walter Moore.
