Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday
Funny post about headlines from 2012 at uScream.com. The ones I doubt Palin/Jindal Expected to Win with Ease and Teachers say More Students “Alert” in Class. The one I do worry about Shortage of Doctors is “Dangerously Low.
Much was made during the campaign of The Bradley Effect. Most would agree this didn't happen in 2008. Some said that it didn't happen back in 1982 when Tom Bradley ran. I worked on the Bradley for Governor campaign (dang 26 years ago!) and though I was stunned that the Mayor lost given his immense popularity I don't think it was race that did him in. It was liberalism. It was a conservative time in California and the anti-gun rights Proposition 15 brought out a lot of conservative voters who were more inclined to vote for a law and order no-nonsense Republican, George Deukmejian, over the Democrat Bradley.
Did the supporters of Measure R, the Mayor's shady transit scam, invest wisely when they paid sign holders to carry signs at $15 an hour? Possibly, as I write this the measure is a hair short of reaching the 2/3 threshold required for passage with about a third of the precincts in.
On to the 2009 election! Join Zuma Dogg and a number of candidates for local office this Friday evening at Casa Princesa in Highland Park for an evening of fun, public comment and music. It's what coffeehouses are all about, so come discuss, debate and even make your own YouTube video courtesy of the Dogg.
One of our readers sent us something that gives me pause. A company in Irvine is seeking to hire folks who sew heart valves for as much as $12 an hour. Hope none of you need a heart transplant from a place that uses thoses hearts!
If you're concerned about the Mayor and DWP's plan to place a solar initiative you have a last chance to have your say before it heads to the March ballot. You can speak at tomorrow's City Council meeting at City Hall or Friday at Van Nuys City Hall. For more information please click here.
And finally if you want to help a great cause and maybe pick up a cool prop from one of your favorite films here is your chance. Premiere Props joins with the Entertainment Industry Foundation to auction off items like Jason Biggs' Alyson Hannigan's wedding cake from American Wedding or a shiny line green 1974 Cadillac Eldorado from the late Bernie Mac's film, Soul Man or even enormous life size animatronic dinosaurs for charity. The auction is at Premiere's warehouse in El Segundo on Saturday. For more info, click here.

Without a doubt this has to be the biggest load of bullshit I have read in a long time from the Daily News.
....The City Council adopted Chick's recommendation this summer and the mayor - who hired the Rev. Jeff Carr to serve as his gang czar - has begun transforming the city effort in dealing with gangs.
One result has been the biggest reduction in gang crime in years and the start of new programs designed to offer recreation, job training and after-school tutoring to young people.
NO THE REASON FOR THE GANG BANGERS KEEPING IN CHECK IS THE PRESENCE OF POLICE OFFICERS IN THE HOT SPOTS. THE GANG BANGER MAYOR AND HIS IDIOT GANG CZAR HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SUCCESS. ASSHOLES ALWAYS TRYING TO TAKE CREDIT FOR OTHERS HARD WORK. JEFF CARR SHOULD GO BACK TO WASHINGTON OR WHEREEVER THE HELL HE CAME FROM. HE'S AN IDIOT WHO KNOWS NOTHING AND GANG PREVENTION GUYS MAKE FUN OF HIM ALL THE TIME.

You oddly left out the fact that Mayor Sam got nailed big time last night after the election for the venomous anti-black sentiment on this blog.
Mayor Sam, you always claim that your family did one thing or the other for this minority group, or that minority group, but everyone came down on you after the election for running a hate-filled blog that you even named after a white racist hater, the former LA Mayor Sam Yorty. You embody that racist's beliefs and make a living from it.
That is a major bit of news that you should have shared in the morning Hotsheet.
The readers are here because it is always head numbing about how much hate there is here, and that is far from what this blog was supposed to be.
You should be ashamed of your hateful, anti-black statements, and I am ashamed that I keep coming back to read it. I guess that I am amazed that someone can be as anti-minority, anti-progress, and anti-democracy as you are.
Someone on the comments section said that you were fat, and another said that you should die. I do not believe those things, but that rabid response to your hateful anti-black utterings is clear to the public.
Obama is the winner, and is your president. You should be introspective to find out what you are such a hater toward people who are black and god knows what else.
This, is the story of the morning.

That's a neat photo! What type of car is that? Does anyone know? Was that the regular type of police car for its day?
Who is the guy? Yorty?
Anonymous said:
Oh it's a DWP car. Still, very neat. What kind of a car is it?

I wish I had keep a copy of the final poll predictions from yesterday morning, but as I remember it the polls (on average) seemed to be right on the money with both the popular and electoral vote.
So no Bradley Effect.

This blog should link to the Rush Limbo show for its treatment of people that have a hint of mint in their blood.
The U.S. is no longer Mayberry. Get used to it. There will be abortion on demand, and a fair redistribution of the wealth.
Ha ha ha.

What is the financial benefit you guys are getting from this restaurant? Can it be a coincidence that you are saying their name a lot?
Can you maybe go to a place that serves beer and cocktails for a change? It makes for a livlier meeting and people will really dig it and you'll get a hole lot of people showing up and partying

Stop beating up on Higby. People who telling him to die and calling him fat yesteday. He can't help those things.
If you are going to beat up on Higby, do it for his failed right wing republican ideas, but don't wish for his death or illness from whatever,or his weight.
He is the man who brings us this blog almost every day and no matter what your position on the issues is, it is wrong to just attack the guy because of his weight or the wishing of his demise. Thatis very, very wrong and it is bad for your spriit too.

can we get on to some new business? i don't think that michael higby hates people but his sometimes sour nature makes it seem that way. but you should be able to put all of this behind you and join in as we move on to new business.

That's old Mayor Sam (the real one) back in the 60s with an experimental DWP electric car. They were nothing like what we have today, probably didn't go very far.

Mayor Sam you can go back to non-anonymous comments now. We're tired of Don Q posting 12,000 messages that you're racist.

It is a testament to you that you are gracious and respectful in defeat. Other blogs in this town are remarkably immature and crude in victory.
I often don't agree with you but you are fair.
One request: Please don't start telling us to vote for Walter Moore for Mayor.

what other blogs are you talking about that are unfair and whatever? i didn't even know that there are other similar blogs other than zooma dog's. i hope it is okay to say. i am just curious.

i like the anonymous posting but not if don quixote is going to post over and over again, please don you are the biggest racist and you have the nerve to call higby one. at least he is no coward and does not hide behind anonymouse posting and spew hate like you do.

In order to comment you either need to have a Google, Blogger or Open ID account. It doesn't have to have your real name or email or any identifying info. But you must at least go through the steps of logging in like everyone else.

Hmm... Clearly Don Quackers was busy this morning responding to his own racist blather. A little schizophrenia and a side of Tourrets to go with your morning coffee, Don?
Crawl back under your rock and let the adults do the talking.

Yes, Mayor Sam is tolerant and fair, even in defeat.
But it's too bad that one asshat commenter here, who was obviously baiting Michael about being racist, has now ruined it for EVERYONE, by making everyone go through this rigamarole (and time-waster) to keep signing in.
No one took him seriously, but that's what trolls are: self-centered and repetitive.
