This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

I wonder what the FatBoy Higby will be saying about the resounding victory over McCain and the Bimbo Sarah Palin.
The American voters did not buy the smear campaign by losers like Palin and Higby against Obama, what a proud moment for us who have seen the dirty politics of the right wing nuts like Higby and Fox news reporters go down in flames !!!!
Victory is oh so sweet !!!!
Higby you and the other Palin losers have been defeated by the real Americans, who have spoken in record numbers !!!

That wasn't written by DN, and the photo isn't theirs either. It's a licensed photo.

Take that Mayor Sam and your hatefilled blog. Rewrite your angry, anti-black opinions if you care to, but you can't hide your white stripes.

11:43 needs a drink.
I defy you to tell me where I've written anything that is anti-black.
I've worked for and have voted for candidates of color who were both Democrats and Republicans.
I never said Obama should not be President because he is Black. In fact sometime back I had even considered voting for him (before I knew more about his record) because of the historic opportunity.
For Christ sake I voted for Antonio Villaraigosa over James Hahn TWICE!
If Condoleeza Rice, Michael Steele, Lynn Swann, Bobby Jindal, et al were to run for something I would likely jump to support them.
You are an asshole who deals the race card from the bottom of the deck.

You have been anti black for the duration of the campaign. Stop saying what you or your family have allegedly done for people of color. You could have used this web site for good, instead of bad things and anti black smear campaigns.
It is resentful to come here now that the election is over and say you are pro black.
Michael Higby said:
I guess you think being anti-liberal is being anti-black?
You really need help.
You've yet to actually show anything I've written that is "anti-Black."

That is a fair assessmnt, Mayor Sam. This isn't exactly a safe place to have positive things to share about Democrats, black people or anything liberal.

MS, what do you expect people to do, go thru your library to prove what most of us already know from reading the blog?
You can make whatever claim you want about your position. We don't have to accept it.
You are the last articulate white person not to join the coming prosperity that Barack is going to bring the country. Just us, chum! Joe B. could teach you a thing or do about goodness.

12:01 safe place?
Are you kidding me? Whose comments are attacked more than anyone - let's put aside the Presidential election even - on any given day? Do I complain it is not safe here?
The world is not safe. Anyone can make a comment but they need to be prepared to defend it.
However to call me racist is absolutely offensive and incorrect.

you are anti-black I don't care what you say. you are so angry and hateful towards black and are now blaming them for being anti-gay which is a lie. You should die.

Higby I think you have someone who needs to go to sleep. Are comments still moderated? Are you actually approving this nonsense? Your call but no need. We would understand a little censorship of a wing nut.

Well, he said you were articulate, Michael.
Let's focus on the positive.

Higby do you still think Obama supporters are like Hitler supporters?
Is Higby going to refer to the president and vice-president as "Obama Bin Biden"?

No matter what Michael says, we all know where he stands. He simply does not like blacks which probably masks other biases and hatred. It's just my opinion, but I suspect I'm not alone.

Higby, what some of the posters are trying to say is that they think the Bradley Effect has played a role in what you have posted. They feel that you have been hiding your anti-black feelings behind your fear of liberalism.
I don't agree with them.
I think that your fear of liberalism is unfounded and you have blown it so out of proportion that you missed an opportunity to part of what is unquestionably an historic moment in American history.
The nation is not going to end with the election of Barak Obama. We have survived, barely, George Bush. And using an example that you like, we survived Jimmy Carter.
Americans like change. The Republicans had their chance and things didn't go well.
When the Republicans controlled the House, it was the right wing that gave the leadership to one of their own, Newt Gingrich. But when the Democrats got control, it was a combination of moderate and liberal Democrats who picked Pelosi.
I believe that Obama wants to carve out a good place for himself in history. That means moderation and reaching across the aisle to work with at least some of the Republicans.
I appreciate the fact that you're letting the whackos take shots at you for a while.

For many it was more that they couldn't vote for Palin, a creationist and dummy, than a vote for Obama and his policies. IT's all surreal. And much of the high voter turnout in the country was people voting against him in strongholds like Texas.
When he fails at his promises, gives tax rebates to those who don't pay taxes and all the other stuff comes true, Hillary will plan her run already. So will that idiot Palin, blaming McCain, and 02 will be the SPECTACLE.
WHAT was Michelle thinking with that hideous dress? She's an ugly giantess in the best of times and looks like some exotic, bow-legged animal loping onto the stage with a giant red pouch. And that's NOT racist you miserable 11:40. There are lots of attractive black women, she's just NOT one of them. The girls came out cute, though.
