John McCain, a flag saluting, country first, great American
Versus, a terrorist's pally who is going to take money from hard-working, educated citizens and break off some morsels to share with others, like Father Phleger.
Socialism. Or Serviceman?
So great to see where Socialism will have you in 4 years. More than likely, without employer-provided health insurance. Turtle-speed County USC care will be the standard for those who can't afford insurance. (Good for those without a job; bad for those who do).
Looking to see who has health insurance right now, and whether it is paid for by your employer.
Clickety click, Swizzlestick!

Only a Republican understands what a Strong America is. Hard work, and Pro Life.
If you don't wear a flag pin, you don't love the country. No matter if O'bama gets elected, America already knows that he and his wife hate the country.

HaikuLA cracks me up. You have succeeded in getting the dander up of the Democrats who read this blog who think they "have a career in politics."
Let them sip lattes and snack on brie. They should have a wonderful life.
I am afraid that peer pressure, guilt and political correctness will force many people to vote for Obama.
Following that we will have to be as vigilant against the new left as we were against the new right. The upside to the disaster of an Obama Administration is that it allows for a chance to realign back to sanity following the recklessness of George Bush.

Who's the swizzlestick? You and all of your ilk are making like the s'stick and swirling around the shiny white bowl about to hear that flushing sound.
The overall character of your desparate sounding post reflects that dynamic beautifully and "don't it feel good?"

Sip lattes and eat brie? None of these liberals have jobs and can't afford those things!
And O'bama isn't going to be able to create enough gub'ment cheese to feed them.

I am STILL a Hillary supporter!
This is what the commenters don't get: that you can still have left tendencies, but not go along like a sheep if the candidate has no resume for the job.
The economy is in such a shitter, both candidates will have a very tough time. But one will spend more, and the other will belt tighten.

Dang! I remember when Jimmy Carter was giving out the government cheese! My stepfather worked running a senior center and we had big days passing it out to the seniors.
If you haven't tried it, government cheese is nasty. It makes Velveeta taste like a fine Chaource.

"If only a Republican understands what a Strong American is," how do you explain how George Bush has weaken America so much during the last 8 years?
12:10 It's hard to believe that people will vote for Obama because of peer pressure. No one knows how you voted, so there is no pressure. Remember the Bradley Effect? Bessides, you have to admit that many people will vote for him because he's a Democrat and others because they feel that the Republicans had their chances and they want a change.
12:22 "None of these liberals have jobs." For making that statement alone your right to vote should be revoked. And that brings up something I've been wondering about for a while ... does Higby have a job?

Mayor Sam I've read your blog for a few days and I'm stunned by the level the Democrats and Obama supporters have sunk.
The bigotry, hatred and vapidity of most of your left leaning supporters is concerning. This is not the Democratic party I grew up with. They have lost rationality let alone any vision or ideology.
They appear to be on their own version of a jihad. God save our country.

higby does have a job running this blog.
liberals do not have jobs. they want everything to be given to them and the illegals.

The biggest part of the Obama tax cut is actually a tax credit for people who currently don't pay taxes.
What that entails is that if you get a refund on top of that Obama will give you an extra check.
Sadly it won't come to pass. It will be the first pledge Obama can not deliver as he will find the government can't afford it due to the financial crisis.
Anonymous said:
The first promise that Obama made that won't come to pass is his starting to bring troops home in 60 (or was that 90?) days?
Hahahahahahahahaha! Oh, that will be so good to see him waiver on!

As a Latina, mother and feminist I am displeased with the attacks on HaikuLA.
I noticed an interesting occurrence everyone love Haiku until she came out as a Republican.
I am a Hillary Clinton Democrat who is going to have a hard time voting for John McCain but considering some of my own gente are of the mindset if you are a Republican and not an Anglo male you are some sort of sell-out.

Haikula: Here's something that's been puzzling me.
You say you were a Hillary supporter who now supports McCain.
Why?
It can't be the experience issue, because nearly every other candidate in the Democratic primary had more experience than Hillary.
And the voters have constantly lowered the value of experience.
It can't be the executive experience issue because Hillary has none. The two Democratic candidates with the most executive experience were Bill Richardson (Gov of New Mexico, Amb. to UN, and Sec. of Energy), and Tom Vilsack (Gov. of Iowa).
It couldn't be that you feel Obama is a socialist. Remember Hillary's health care plan, and her views on other economic and social issues?
It couldn't be because of the issues at all because her views on nearly everything are opposite of McCain's views, and certainly of Palin's views.
It couldn't be because she's a woman because McCain isn't a woman.
The only thing that McCain and Hillary have in common is race.

What's a serviceman, anyway? A man who makes a service call would be referred to as a service man. Voting for someone because they served in the Armed Forces has nothing to do with current policy issues. In my opinion, that would be a stupid reason to vote for him. Get a grip. The Republicans and McCain don't own the flag, they are not the only ones who salute the flag, and there are many great Americans out there who served in the Armed Forces and were taken as POWs. Haikula, your posts are narrow minded, nasty and childish. You add nothing of value to this blog. Until you grow-up and stop calling people names, you cannot be taken seriously at all.

I will be thrilled to explain my views once you show us what Obama's national qualifications are.
But first and foremost, Hillary didn't sit on a board with a person who planted bombs. With someone who didn't apologize for planting bombs. Who says that they are regretting that they didn't plant more bombs. Whose wife was on the FBI's Most Wanted List.
And then who dismisses the association as Ayers being just "some guy in the neighborhood."
Then, I can express my concern that Obama hasn't run anything. Ever. Not a law firm. Not an ice cream truck.
Then, I will tell you about his voting "Present" 130 (or whatever the number is) times in the Illinois State Senate. Can't vote Present when you're President.
That'll keep you busy for a while.
Since I said that I'd wait until you responded, I hope you'll live up to your end of the bargain.
Tell us what his QUALIFICATIONS are. What has he ACCOMPLISHED? Give us the very best you've got.

Who are you 5:08? Someone who doesn't know what a serviceman is?
I was in the Army. Don't disrespect those of us who served Y O U.
Step on the flag while you are at it. Like the Obama friend did in Esquire.

Haikula,
Seems that you're having a problem understanding how American democracy works.
There are no qualifications for running for president that related to how many votes you have cast, or whether or not you've run anything.
American voters get to determine, using whichever method they wish, who they want to run for president. If they choose to nominate, and then vote for someone, who is new, fresh, and excites people with his character instead of someone who has become part of insiders' club, then that's the qualification for being president.
There are many people who don't want a Washington insider, especially when the country is in such a need for a change. Hillary and Bill started as outsiders, and then became insiders. The voters disagreed with you and felt that the new guy would be better than the insider. And now that's happening in the Obama vs. McCain race.
The relationship between Bill Ayers and Barak Obama is incredibly thin and vague. The relationship between John McCain and the nation's biggest lobbyists, the Bush operatives, and the Keating Five scandal is much clearer. The relationship between Sarah Palin and her husband, who was a member of the Alaskan Independent Party, which preached vicious anti-American positions, is very clear.
Hillary and John McCain never ran anything. But to argue that you need to have run anything in order to be qualified to run for president, would have also disqualified LBJ, JFK, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, but qualified Dennis Kucinich and Jerry Springer.
I like our American system. Even if you could come up with qualifiers such as the number of votes cast, bills passed, or years served as the mayor of any sized city, I would argue against them.
I trust the voters to sort it all out, and determine what's important to them.
I realize that this doesn't work well for Todd Palin and his anti-American friends, but he'll soon be a footnote in history.
God bless America.

I predicted what your response would be.
So, your answer to the question, "what has Obama accomplished?" can't start with a challenge to the 30+ years in the Senate that McCain served, even though that isn't running something.
What McCain has is service to his country, and the character to stay in the Hanoi Hilton until it was his turn, despite being tortured.
Character.
Obama's character is that he associates with terrorists. And black separatists. And America haters. And socialists.
Hey, I can't wait to pay more in tax. My guess is that with your lack of logic, you can't afford to give up any more of your minimum wage than you already do.

As mentioned in a previous posting on MS, more than one prominent conservative is supporting Obama while noting that the Republicans have turned this country into one of the biggest spending periods in history since they have been in charge. McCain is a Republican.
That gives people little hope that McCain will change anything.
So the only hope for change becomes someone who, in fact, is different.
