Jamiel's Law Update & Zine's Motion Takes Shape

The Jamiel's Law Petition is moving forward! We now have over 45,000 signatures turned in. There is still time for you to download the Petition, sign it and mail it in today. Go to http://www.jamielslaw.com/ and do your part to make Los Angeles safer!

Councilman Dennis Zine's Motion will finally be heard on Monday, October 27, 2008 @ 9:00am in the Public Safety Committee, Room 1010. The fast work of the Public Safety Committee received Zine's Motion on April 11, 2008 and only took 6 months to set the hearing date!

According to Kevin James at KRLA-870am, Special Order 40 has never been debated openly like this. Let's support Zine's Motion!! Councilman Zine will be on Kevin's show tonight (9:00pm - 11:00pm) to talk about his Motion. He also told John & Ken on KFI-640am yesterday that a Special Guest will attend the hearing. Come out and participate in this very important hearing!

Finally some action! I am going to call my CM Zine today and tell him how happy I am with his support for Jamiel's Law. And remind him that his continued support is the only way I will vote for him again.

This is a citywide problem we can only fix together.

Nobody is in support of gang members-regardless of what race they are. Gang members terrorize people and make the streets unsafe. An illegal gang member should not have more rights than an innocent, law abiding citizen of the United States - or anyone for that matter. We all deserve to enjoy a long, healthy, safe life. No person deserves to have their life taken by a vicious killer.

To Anonymous at 3:23, "supporting black gang member's" what? Or did you mean supporting black gang members? I don't understand where you got anything about black gang members from Jamiel's Law or from the comment from Anonymous at 12:36. You sound like you could have a little race issue.

Jamiel Shaw II was not a gang member. He got straight A's and was the star of his football team; Stanford University even wanted to recruit him next fall for their football program.

And even if he was, the point of the Zine Motion is to protect the citizens of this country from gang members who came here illegally and are terrorizing our neighborhoods and killing innocent people. Illegal alien gang members are also guilty of killing day laborers.

The Shaws really, really need help gathering signatures to get the 73,000 signatures to get Jamiel's Law on the ballot. Don't sit on your laurels. This family can't do it all. They more help! Please get involved!
