"How To Shoot Yourself In The Foot" by John McCain

Daily Kos has a story up about a McCain campaign worker repudiating a hate filled anti-Islam McCain supporter for his words at a rally. What's interesting about that you ask?

The McCain campaign worker happens to be a Muslim.

From Daily Kos-
"Daniel Zubairi, is one of McCain's statewide Leadership Directors for the state of Maryland. Zubairi, who is a Muslim, was a McCain delegate to the RNC..."

What Mr. Zubairi did by dismissing Mr. Muslim Hater was very commendable and a chance for the McCain camp to counter their image of being a frothing at the mouth, rabid, and redneck based campaign to nowhere.

Mr. Zubairi was asked to appear on the networks and tell his heroic story, something positive that McCain could have used to his political advantage.

Unfortunately, the McCain camp put a muzzle on Mr. Zubairi and canceled his TV appearances. Speculation is that McCain did not want to alienate that rabid, frothing at the mouth, "country first" base by having a Muslim speak on his behalf on national television.

Mr. Zubairi did the right thing, and I commend him for his noble efforts. He actually made McCain look reasonable for a brief moment. A very brief moment.

Actually Joe, Daniel is not muzzled. This was all about Rick Sanchez and his unbalanced reporting. The campaign refused to have Daniel on with Sanchez. So once again CNN has lied with relation to McCain-Palin as they did in the Drew Griffin story.

"CNN anchor Rick Sanchez got in some hot water last week after a segment on his midday show looked into the Alaskan Independence Party. The segment discussed Todd Palin's seven-year membership in the group. It turns out not only was the McCain campaign peeved, but sources tell us Sanchez and his executive producer got a talking-to from the bosses, too."

Your explanation still reads as "muzzling" to me. Why would anyone pass up a chance to get this story out even if the host of the show was not towing the McCain party line?

Is that the job of a journalist? To only air reports that favor the candidate?

The fact that he got chewed out by his network bosses for not doing so is why so many people are so fed up with the corporate media.

I can certainly understand the McCain camp not allowing him to go on with Rick Sanchez...Sanchez just happens to be the most pathetic liar of them all.

But why is he not being allowed to go on Fox or other networks? He sounded like a pretty rational guy to me. Actually, he would have been great for the Obama campaign...but the fact that he supports McCain is a good thing!

joe b, that venerable news source "Extra" the entertainment NBC Show, said tonight that Palin's wardrobe pales in comparison to the $400,000 Obama's spent on food so far -- and that's not counting his wife.

Your claiming she didn't really spend almost $500 on lunch earlier post, on items like espensive caviar and lobster, because she didn't sign is just sad spinning. Maybe she never signs, has minions do it and bills it all directly to the Party. Saves her trouble and then she can say "But I didn't sign, you can't prove I ate it!"

All these candidates are living high on our dime, with secret service escorting them everywhere and streets closed down for their racing motorcades, private jets.

Oh jeez, I'm not claiming anything, nor am I spinning, I just countered the good Mayor's story with the Snopes retort. Once again I urge everyone to read & research before pouncing and sticking one's foot in
one's mouth. It just can't be that hard, and besides a foot in the mouth
really must not be that tasty, especially if it belongs to you.

Jeeezuz MS Higby, back up and give Joe B some room! You think if you don't jump in and correct him ad naseum he will steal the election from those losers McSame and Mooselini?

Joe -

Well it's probably immature but it's not uncommon for various figures, political and otherwise to not go on with certain reporters, hosts, etc. because of some reason or another. That's what happened here. Obama has refused to go on shows that were critical of him as has Bush and others.

While you're bloviating and looking for some lobster leftovers Joe and I are chatting back and forth via email you dum dum.

Investigating Todd Palin's membership in an anti-America organization is a legitimate news story. That is not unbalanced reporting. What is unbalanced is that the Republicans carry on about Michelle Obama saying she was finally proud of the U.S. but cry when journalists try to cover Todd Palin's treasonous activities. There is a BIG difference between saying you aren't proud of the U.S. (freedom of speech and thought) and saying you want to overthrow it (sedition).

So a voice of reason and remarkable poise gets banned from talking to the media by the McCain campaign but Palin gets to go around spewing poison. McCain's judgment worsens by the minute doesn't it?

If you're looking to continue building a viable conservative base on this blog, you might want to reconsider attacking them with "Fuck You".

Trust me...I'm milquetoast compared to some of the people who comment on Mayor Sam.

You might do well do research my previous comments before assuming my intentions.

You and Joe may be email pards but frankly, I find most of his posts to be nothing more than the usual high-pitched liberal talking points.

In this post especially, he's trying to drum up controversy where there is none. That was my point.

Attack if you must but IMO, it was undeserved.
