New Gallup Poll: McCain & Obama tied at 46%

Click here for this fresh Gallup poll. Don't be a FOO' and try to spin it; it's a reflection of what IS.

While I have your attention, if you want to start cleaning up city council, let's start with defeating Jack Weiss in his run for city attorney and instead vote for Carmen Trutantich.

Let's also clean up the mess that Weiss created in his District by voting for Paul Koretz for his city council seat.

Trust your Haikula. It's my world, and you're welcome to live in it. If I wasn't right, Mr. Higby wouldn't be paying me the big bucks.

Election results have shown that most polls are skewed 2-3% in favor of the Democrat candidate, no matter who he/she is. The most accurate polls are touch-tone polls. The least accurate are LA Times polls.

122,

Since you've just looked up one poll, instead of doing as you say, it appears that you're calling yourself dumb.

I'm sure that if you agreed with the Gallup poll, you wouldn't be fishing around for something to counter it.

"Oooh, that's not so. It's this. No, it's that. No, it's there. Must disprove. Must disprove. Go check www.ICantDealwithIt.org."

I fear that you have become what is you dislike -- a spinmister who tells only part of the story.

You have a point in the past of noting that surveys of most likely voters are more accurate than surveys of registered voters. Yet you failed to note that this Gallup poll was of regisitered voters.

You also chose not to mention the Times poll in today's paper showing Obama ahead 46-44 among registered voters and 49-45 among most likely voters.

To 1:41: As noted in this blog a couple of days ago, the Pew Research Center found that surveys need to include cell phone users to be more accurate. And doing so would add to Obama's lead.

Biden just makes it up along the way, and doesn't believe that Obama is ready. Should I retrieve this from youtube, since you're so fond of it?

Hello 1:54,

The Gallup poll has a very trustworthy metric.

Since they didn't have a NEW poll showing "likely" voters, I had to go with what they're publishing. I couldn't order them to come up with a fresh poll tailored perfectly to me. I hope that makes sense to you.

As for the Times, their methodology is ridiculous. Personally, I wouldn't put much stock in anything the Times publishes. I assume you know how the place is in shambles.

You can trust the Times? More power to you. I trust actual pollsters.

And just because you disagree with me, don't assume that you know what I hope to / hope not to become.

What happened to Obama's 52%-43% Gallup poll?

Prime Buzz liberals were bragging about that.

Fake left, run right -- touchdown McCain!

The fake left -- Obama -- fake podium, fake White House Press conferences.

The run right -- McCain -- Country First.

The touchdown -- polling Americans -- America isn't fooled by Obama.

Obama will get smoked at tomorrow night's debate. It will not be pretty for libs.

My point is that you're acting just like the politicians.

When the poll produces results that you don't like and it uses regisistered voters, you slam it saying that "most likely" voters would be more accurate.

When the poll produces a result you like and used regisitered voters, you cite the results, but don't tell us that it used registered voters.

This is the kind of Karl Rove and manipulation by the Bush people that I think people are getting sick of.

I hope that you don't become part of this just for the sake of creating hits.

Reading Haikula's post at 2:04 got me worried.

Like the Wall Streeters whose neverending quest for more money took us into today's mess, Haikula's quest for more blog hits has now driven her to trying to put the focus on herself as an issue that will do just that.

For those of you who keep writing and hoping that the blog will return to its original focus of City Hall and the 3rd Floor, forget it. The horse left the barn a long time ago.

Higby and Haikula have made it clear that it's all about hits. Whatever it takes. Whatever they have to write.

Ha ha ha, Paul Koretz who was city councilman for West Hollywood while it overdeveloped that tiny city like mad into the densest in the west,

Even on a known earthquake fault and while every LA City agency from fire to police to DOT confirmed they were having hugely negative impacts on adjacent residents of LA. Fought their own residents too, fought CEQA and meanwhile refused to build genuinely affordable housing while razing the charming old homes to make way for luxury high-rises and retail.

Paul Koretz was gung-go for overdevelopment and oblivious to the gridlock impacts on people in the LA hills to the north or Beverly Hills to the west, claiming with the rest of West Hollywood's council and Mayor it was the best way to fund their social programs for the gay and lesbian, senior citizen and other communities -- Haikula annointing Koretz as some sort of savior shows how clueless she is like the rest of her political acumen.

And even if Koretz has had some sort of epiphanous conversion to zero development to please the Cheviott Hills and other zero-growth people, he couldn't deliver and he knows it, so to promise such a thing would just show how untrustworthy he is. Has he ever made that claim? Where do you live, Haikula? Is that little apt. you rent even in CD5? What you know about politics in this town you could easily fit into one of your silly haikus.

Hello 2:23,

You make a good point, but you're overlooking one thing: I always, and only, quote polls from the same source, Gallup, regardless of the results.

I accept the results of their polls because I've taken a (more than a usual person) very close look at their methodology.

It's available on their site. Otherwise, you make a good point. But since I quote the same source, the few times I've posted polls, I don't think it holds water.

Let us know if you don't see it that way. Dissent is okay here.

Anyway, let Haikula do the heavy thinking. Obama will carry "Californie" one way or the other, so we're just hyping each other up.

As Rodney King say, woefully, "Can't...can't...can't we all git alohng???"

(Probably more fun that we don't!)

Nuch Trutanich is the real deal!!!

He is heavily supported by law enforcement, Lee Baca and Steve Cooley to begin with. He has raised over $600,000 last time I talked to him.

And, Jack is not well liked. He is arrogant and has a flash temper.

This is one thew good guys can win.

By th eway, Paul Koretz defines the word "Nebbish". The better candidate in that race is Robyn Ritter Simon. She rocks.

Koretz is one lucky dude.

he was staff to a city councilman when West Hollywood was formed.

The councilman moved to San Diego and Paul literally inherited the job, being the "straight Jewish Guy" councilmember.

He tried for the legislatue and lost, then got the nomination and won. (ttoal safe D. seat)

While there for six years, he acomplished nothing.

Now he's back and looking for a job. He is carpet bagging into the district.

He is a total loser, and Robyn is hot; good looking, smart and a real doer. She will win the seat and do a good job for the district.

Keep in mind that being a West Hollywood City Councilman was not a paying job.

So really you have to go back to when West Hollywood was formed to find a time, other than when he was a state legislator, when he had a paying job.

So do you think this one of those situations in which he has to be in elected office because he really isn't able to hold down a real job?

About Robin Witter-Simon, see CityWatch's "The Development Wars from the Trenches," by Mike Eveloff, perpetual CD5 critic -- the whole thing is a tongue-lashing to Ritter-Simon for not embracing zero growth as the only acceptable option.

Ritter-Simon wrote an earlier piece in CityWatch he's responding to, in which she naively expressed the plan to just get the community and Council Office to communicate better, and involve developers and community in planned processes.

What she didn't understand is that's been going on all along -- those like Eveloff don't want more and better communication, they want a moratorium on all development until there's more new infrastructure to relieve traffic. Eveloff makes that clear as have the other activists who've attended numerous community- council - developer meetings. But then they also derail every plan to relieve congestion, from battling the MTA and Expo/Subway to the Sea, to Pico-Olympic Plan.

Ritter-Simon has not responded to Eveloff's attack on her -- she's probably starting to realize what the real situation is that she'd have to deal with. I'd like to see what she has to say now. Will she make promises she can't keep to try to quiet these critics? If so, she'll be naive and doing an injustice to the city's tax base and to CD5 itself -- Eveloff and his group literally preferred that Century City stay unoccupied and go bankrupt and into disrepair just so there would be no more traffic. (The Schubert Theatre, 3-plex movie house, were dark, restaurants and a bank/ night club barely had customers -- it was the most valuable piece of land on the westside falling into blight, and his group preferred it this way.

Would Ritter-Simon have had the guts to redevelop the place as it is now, despite that noise recall? Koretz sure wouldn't, and look what he did while on West Hollywood's City Council. Over development of every kind, without concern for the neighborhoods. We need these candidates to give us a realistic program, and dare to go mano-a-mano with the Eveloffs and the rest. The voters want the truth of what to expect.
