What Is Obama Afraid Of?

CNN is reporting that despite previous statements, presumptive Democratic candidate Barack Obama is backing away from plans to join with his Republican counterpart John McCain in several Lincoln-Douglas style Presidential debates this fall.

Obama campaign officials feel there won't be enough time to debate McCain outside of three proposed debates by the Commission on Presidential Debates. Obama spokeshole Jen Psaki told CNN "It's likely they will be the three appearances by the candidates this fall."

Though Obama is great on the stump, he may not be comfortable in a debate performance where he can't rely on a teleprompter. In this video of Obama with right wing nut job Alan Keyes during the 2004 Illinois US Senate race (the one where Obama coasted to victory because Jack Ryan, now former husband of hot Star Trek babe Jeri Ryan, was dumb enough to get into a sex scandal and the dumbass Illinois Republican Party tried to get Mike Ditka to run against BHO but wound up with the just to right of Atila the Hun Keyes, who wasn't even an Illinois resident.) Obama is clearly uncomfortable defending his opposition to gay marriage.

Just a thought, and a scary one at that. But what if H. Obama were to pick "AnVil" as his V.P.?

Could we called this "collectivist slate" the "AHHHH Ticket"??

Just think of the returns on your investments in teleprompter sales to the "Ahhh Duo"

You're right that Obama gives great "stump speeches" where he claims be be in a long line of reformers and not only American but WORLD heroes, from Abe Lincoln to the abolitionists, suffragettes, the allies who fought fascism, MLK and JFK, who were all "dreamers." Well, they did a lot more than dream and raise taxes -- which EVERY ONE of his "hopes and dreams" relies on.

That's why he won't engage in debates -- he has no way to come up with that revenue without huge taxes, other than to claim that "saving billions from the war in Iraq" will solve budget crisis just like that. But he's now admitting that it was naive to pull out of Iraq ASAP -- he's taking on ALL of Hillary's positions now that he's not lying to get the nod. He'll also give all illegals immediate legalization without consequences.

Obama debating McSame would be truly entertaining. I hope Obama reconsiders and allows the public
to witness the embarrassment Obama is trying to spare McSame.

Barack H. Obama. The middle name rhymes with the last name of a former Iraqi dictator.

Oh! Now I understand. H.Obama is a way of implying association with the
Iraqi guy that was recently hung.
You know I love ya RS, but Faux news
reporting is way beneath ya!

Barack Hussein Obama II[2] (pronounced /bəˈrɑːk hʊˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961) is the junior United States Senator from Illinois. He is the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party in the 2008 presidential election, and the first African American to be a major party's presumptive nominee for President of the United States.

A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate in January 2003. After winning a landslide primary victory in March 2004, Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to the Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he cosponsored legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In the current 110th Congress, he has sponsored legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel. Since announcing his presidential campaign in February 2007, Obama has emphasized withdrawing American troops from Iraq, increasing energy independence, decreasing the influence of lobbyists, and promoting universal health care as top national priorities.

I guess he has no problem with being the "SECOND ONE".

So Red Spot, Obama's b'day is tomorrow, Aug 4th -- so he's 47 now. It seems like years since this election's been going on already -- it's insane. We should do like in England: 6 intense weeks and it's over, a fraction of the money, and more of a chance for people to win on ideas, not mere endurance and desire.

Some good thoughts, I like the idea of minimizing the spin and getting on with the vote.

RED HERRING ALERT! RED HERRING ALERT!!

Oh no! The "Hussein" boogeyman rears it's ugly head.

Because we all know *that* particular muslim name equates to evil, no matter how common the name is in certain countries or cultures, or who bears it.

Oooooh Spot... beware of Americans with middle eastern and/or muslim sounding names!

from the thinkbabynames dot com site:

The boy's name Hussein \hu(s)-sein\ is pronounced hoo-SAYN. It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "good; small handsome one". The name of a prominent person in Shiite Islam and a royal name in Jordan.

Hussein has 4 variant forms: Husain, Husayn, Husein and Hussain.

Baby names that sound like Hussein are Hassain and Hassan.

Hussein is a very rare male first name and a popular surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census).

In case you didn't notice, this info comes from the U.S. CENSUS.

By the way, my own son has a Hebrew name. Even though he is hispanic. We're just kinda nutty like that.

Run from the evil non-english named people! THEY'RE COMING TO GET YOU BARBARA....AAAAARRRGH! (please refer to the beginning of George Romero's classic cult film "Night of the Living Dead")

As Shakespeare once wrote (it was either William or Robby, I forget):

"A Rose by any other name would smell as sweet"....

Interesting.

So its not ok for Red Spot to say Obama's real middle name, but its totally 100% ok to change Mayor Villaraigosa's name whenever it makes you laugh.

Real consistent.

I agree. I love Red Spot and I love Valley Doll, but if it's okay to change Antonio's name and hold it against him for taking his wife's name and combining it with his and everything else you say about him, why can't anyone do it to the guy running for president just because you favor him? The people who read this blog and favor AV have to tolerate it. I don't agree with it, but it is the way this blog works. Name calling, bashing, false accusations and fake news. I call it democracy and suck it up. If Obama chose to run for president of the United States of America at this point in time with that middle name, one has to think he knew that it would become an issue.

Just another little reason why MOST of us in the U.S. voted for Hillary.

My first choice for VP is Hillary. However, if Obama chose Villaraigosa, I would vote for him. I'd even go out and campaign. I might even become an Obamaniac.
