McCain's Sermon From The Mount

John Mc"Crypt Keeper"Cain (a.k.a. Old Man Grumpus) released his newest campaign ad on Friday.

Thank gawd I got around to watching it today... the Lord's Day. I feel doubly blessed.

In this new ad, I was at first horrified to discover that Barack Obama is the anti-christ (run, children, run!!).

But then the ad revealed that Barack freed the slaves from Egypt (Yay, Barry!).

And then Charleton Heston endorses Obama from the grave (hoooray)!!

It all worked out in the end! God bless us one and all!

Great ad by Team McCain.

More on the "Teleprompter Kid"

WASHINGTON (AP) — Backing away from Senator John McCain’s challenge for several Lincoln-Douglas-style debates, Senator Barack Obama agreed Saturday to the three standard meetings proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debate.

In a letter to the commission, the Obama campaign manager, David Plouffe, said the short period between the Republican convention that ends Sept. 4 and the first proposed debate made it likely that the commission-sponsored debates would be the only ones.

“We’ve committed to the three debates on the table,” said Jen Psaki, a campaign spokeswoman for Mr. Obama. “It’s likely they will be the three appearances by the candidates this fall.”

Asked if that meant Mr. Obama rejected more debates, Ms. Psaki said, “We’re not saying that.”

A spokesman for Mr. McCain said the candidate looked forward to debating “as often as possible, but it’s disappointing that Senator Obama has refused his offer to do joint town hall meetings.”

The first debate is set for Sept. 26 in Oxford, Miss. The others are set for Oct. 7 and Oct. 15, with the vice-presidential debate scheduled for Oct. 2.

......and so much for the "Berlin Bounce".

PRINCETON, NJ -- Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain remain statistically tied in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update for July 31-Aug. 2, with Obama at 45% and McCain at 44% among registered voters.

The results reflect a fairly steady pattern of voter sentiment over the last several days, with the two candidates either tied in an absolute sense, or in today's average, statistically tied. As has been the case all summer, the race appears to be settling back into a pattern where Obama has a small margin over McCain. The overall average margin for June and July has been three percentage points in Obama's favor, despite some brief periods of time when Obama led statistically and other times when the race was tied. Obama has been unable to sustain a significant lead over McCain, and the latter has been unable to break into even a small lead over Obama. Popeye v. The Pretender: Obama's Big Debate Duck
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 10:29 AM

Supporters of Senator Obama have to be deeply disturbed by Obama's decision to duck Senator McCain's invitation to change American political debate via a series of one-on-one townhall meetings across the U.S.

Here was a chance to genuinely reinvent how presidential elections are conducted --to raise the conversation and empower voters, and Obama ran away. So much for the Obama rhetoric of change and a new era: Obama's a machine pol afraid to get too far from Axelrod's script.

The big duck is an admission by Obama that the scars from his late primary season debate battles with Hillary still smart. She creamed him in the late rounds, again and again, and since then the Obama gaffe machine has been in high gear, culminating this past week with "inflate your tires to energy freedom" prat fall. Off-prompter, Obama is revealed as a pretender --a lightweight who can't make coherent arguments or sustain even short exchanges with hostile questioners.

Senator McCain has gone Popeye, which is just fine. "I yam what I yam" makes a lot of sense to Americans, and the doggedness and patience of the old warrior shine brighter every day as it contrasts with the smoke machine around Obama. Pushing back hard on the bogus charge of racism by Obama and his surrogates at the New York Times was exactly what the voters needed to see --the old fight and yes, the old temper. McCain's great strength has always been his reliability on national security issues, and in an age of punks with nukes and oil --Ahmadinejad and Chavez-- a tough old guy looks pretty good, especially measured against a lightweight fighting way above his weight class.

Obama's big rallies and celebrity turn have had their effect, but now they are at least a wash as Americans on Main Street begin to wonder what Obama thinks he is running for, and what exactly he is bringing to the table. Stanley Kurtz's examination of Obama's hard left voting record in the Illinois state senate answers the second question, and the refusal to stand by his commitment to "anytime, anywhere" debates with McCain underscores the impression that Obama thinks he is owed the presidency.

Obama may have peaked in Berlin, and the sudden recognition by millions that "there is no there there" will be solidified by Obama's big debate duck.

All hat. No cattle. And no spine.

.........and lastly for the gracious Valley Doll, this overview of "THE ONE" by Hugh Hewitt.

As details of Obama's early political career emerge into the light, his associations with such radical figures as Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, Reverend James Meeks, Bill Ayers, and Bernardine Dohrn look less like peculiar instances of personal misjudgment and more like intentional political partnerships. At his core, in other words, the politician chronicled here is profoundly race-conscious, exceedingly liberal, free-spending even in the face of looming state budget deficits, and partisan. Elected president, this man would presumably shift the country sharply to the left on all the key issues of the day-culture-war issues included. It's no wonder Obama has passed over his Springfield years in relative silence.

I now relinquish the "Red Soapbox".

Great Sunday to you and the family.

I concur with 11:36.

Obama hasn't even run a law firm, or a company, let alone a state.

I can't imagine how he thinks he can run the United States.

Watch for further things coming undone in his two autobiographies, especially his weird affiliations, such as with the guy from the Weather Underground.

At least with Hillary, the country knew what it was getting. Love her or hate her, she is a known quantity.

What ultimately will bring down the Obama campaign is the vague connections.

It's not the connections, per se, but the vaguery. I'm not even saying who I'm voting for. Just my crystal ball.
