BREAKING NEWS!!!: FOX KTTV 11 to run exclusive detailing working relationship between Councilwoman Janice Hahn and Grape Street Crips

Morning update:

Here is the link to the story which is sure to provoke discussion and renew calls for an full audit of all gang programs.

According to KFI's Eric Leonard, Fox TV will run a exclusive story tonight and tomorrow at 10:00PM regarding Gang Intervention Fraud and Waste involving Councilwoman Janice Hahn and the Grape Street Crips.

Just before City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo filed his Injunction against the Grape Street Crips, the Office of Councilwomen Janice Hahn hires Crips members including Steven Myrick who during his time as an employee of the City of Los Angeles Gang Interventionist was charged with rape and double dip as an active leading member of the Grape Street Crip Gang.

Once the Injunction was in place Myrick filed complaints against the LAPD who were well verse with his gang activities. But through political pressure??, the LAPD officers who were the subject of the complaint by Myrick were transfer out of the gang suppression unit.

This cause suppression measures efforts to nearly cease due to concerns by LAPD officers about retaliation for their efforts from the council office. In addition, sensitive information on police officers was supplied to Grape Street Gang members that enable them to build complaint cases against LAPD officers.

Two of the LAPD officers involved in this case have file suit against the department over this affair.

This exclusive will run tonight and Thursday on Fox News at Ten.

I hope they nail Hahn before she gets to actually putting "her" proposal for a parcel tax to fund "her" gang intervention programs on the ballot.

She wants to go after just homeowners and doesn't even have a plan, she admits, just "trust us, we'll come up with a good plan once we have that dedicated revenue stream." Yeah, sure we can trust her all right.

She was tight with Cardenas when he was head of the City's Gang programs via his Council Ad Hoc Committee, now her bushy head is right behind the Mayor and Carr and Bratton in every photo op for THEIR new gang office -- anywhere she can go, to get money for "her" programs which must be stopped at all costs.

actually that officer had several dark marks on his record for police abuse and not against "gang members" so don't cry a river too soon for the police officer.

hey and i love lapd i have family members that are officers and still say that a dirty cop gives them all a bad name and should be removed not blindly protected.

It's important to have an impartial, or at least well-balanced, group to oversee police brutality allegations; we know power can corrupt, but right now, there's also too much leaning in the other direction with ACLU supporting the pro-gangbangers in areas like Glassell Park and Ramona Gardens, McArthur Park (Huizar and Reyes being quick to go against the cops too).

All these people have to do is band together and claim abuse by cops to make LAPD and the City back off, fearing law suits and if it should go that far, a stupid jury should they go to trial. Race and class-baiting is best done by the criminals whose lives are spent figuring how to spam the system.

Also the Police Commission and Bernie Mack seem to go against the rank and file of cops every chance they get, like opposing the Protective League when it came to concerns about their personal financial info and of their families (something that seems to be an allegation here, that that was given out to gangbangers, the cops' main fear).

And now, rank and file cops KNOW and say that they're facing "career suicide" (in words of well-known and respected anon. cop blogger Jack Dunphy, quoted in Times) if they ask about gangbangers' illegal status, so those like San Ferns have been literally running in the streets with assault rifles and laughing in their faces -- finally, Rock filed a gang injunction. SP40 is NOT working, even the authority the cops have NOW is denied them, while they're not allowed to access gangbangers' names databases -- only a few specifically on gang detail are, so even if they stop a suspect, Bratton/Mack and powers that be, won't let them check for illegal status, even if previously deported!

In his interview with the Times yesterday, Bratton made it clear he wasn't giving the cops the tools they need to ID illegal gangbangers and put them at risk if they asked.

Abuse allegations are also stacked against the cops with this bunch in charge, PC concerns rule -- they need more rank and file cops, those who aren't kissing the butts of the Hispanic politicians to keep their jobs.

All in all, this and the rest of the local commotion is something Mayor Tony should keep in mind when he thinks about ever reaching 1000 new police officers.

The entire picture is very clearly a big mess. It shows potential recruits what they have to look forward to as a "workplace environment."

It just makes it easier for other cities to recruit police. On the other hand, if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. No thanks to the politicians for that.

Just saw the story about using active gang members as gang intervention workers, paid by the city.

HELL NO, don't give Janice Hahn any more money to waste on gang intervention workers.

The LAPD has to work with all these clowns in city hall, who quickly defend the gang bangers, to many gang criminals are scaming the city.

Remember the names Hector Marroquin and Mario Corona ?

Be careful Fox 11! Never question Janice Hahn's intentions or expertise. Remember, she knows about these issues better than everyone else. How dare you insinuate that she's been duped or is way off base with her parcel tax proposal!

Sanctimonious, always knows what's best, yep sounds like Janice Hahn.

When will someone credible run against her and take this seat?

Just saw the report. It makes me sick to think my money has been spent to fund gang bangers. I hope Janice can sleep at night knowing that her program may have actually paid for some bullet that ended up in someone's head.

Our “leaders” need to cut these and other programs that waste our money. These include:

-Programs that favor union contractors over non-union (Project Labor Agreements).
-Mandatory small business, minority, and women owned business quotas.
-Policies that force anyone to do business with the City to implement social programs because the City thinks they should be able to dictate (Equal benefits, domestic partners)

Bottom line, these programs require resources to implement and monitor and it drives up the cost of City services. Unfortunately they also are used to buy votes from the unions and special interest groups

We are doomed.

I enjoyed seeing Ms Hahn squirm during that interview. Hope she remembers that feeling next time she tries to humiliate City staff during her committee or clowncil meetings.

Maybe the ILWU will run someone against her.

Remember all these issues when Mayor Antonion Whathisnamenow runs for Governor and Bratton decides to run for political office. However, we might get lucky and he'll high tail it back to NY after his term!

Helloooo Los Angeles. Its about time you all woke up. This has been going on for years. Why do you think Laura Chick N Shit pretends she's the scapegoat and told media she was told NOT TO AUDIT GANG PROGRAMS. Let's see 7 council members were given campaign money by LA Bridges. Homeboy is a fucking joke and needs to be audited because Father Gang Bangers boys are still getting arrested. You are so right NO NEW RECRUITS FOR LAPD especially after today's ILLEGAL idiot march. 7:09am is lying. The officers found confidential papers in the suspects cars all pointing to Janice Hahn. Yes, good gang officers were transferred thanks to imbicile Janice

Finally word is out about these corrupt gang intervention workers. 3 were arrested last year on felonies but idiot council members still giving them money. Huizar and Antonio are protecting gang bangers with the GRP money instead of it going to credible gang programs. A lot of the gang programs Huizar gives money are bullshit. They don't have any experience and because they helped campaign for him he gives them money.

Thanks to KTTV 11 and Chris Blatchford for outstanding journalism in revealing miss management of public funds. Please continue to reveal how much public money Los Angeles politicians have wasted or plan on wasting on these non-profit, non working, gang “intervention and prevention” organizations.

Coucilpersons like Janice Hahn and Huizar have gang bangers as their advisors. Pathetic. Let it be seen that these gang intervention workers are allowing their homeboys to run a better drug business because city council has created a safe passage for them.

where does Janice Hahn live at? I'm pretty sure it is not in Watts.

She has the largest portion of public housing in her district. Montiel and Del Angel met with Ms. Hooper of Nickerson Gardens last week, is she being picked as a commission Board Member?

Ms. Hooper, the way to stop the violence is not through politics, but by enforcing the law. Please stay away from the politics.

This goes beyond Janice Hahn's incompetence. How can she NOT KNOW what was going on with these "inteventionists"? Our hard erned money is being taken from hiring cops and paving streets to instead go to organized criminals and urban terrorists. I want to ask District Attorney Steven Cooley to conduct a Grand Jury investigation into Hahn and the whole gang prevention mess. Anyone want to join me?
