Obama and Soul Food
Is it just me, or is it next to impossible to acquire an "Obama for President" sticker?
Just about every sticker made is on back order at the Obama for President web site, including the one featured here.
A friend of mine manned the get-out-the-vote party at North Hollywood Park today, where she made calls to potential Obama supporters in Texas in preparation for Tuesday's caucus. The good news is she had a lot of fun, the bad news is she couldn't even get a bumper sticker there. Campaign officials advised her to make her own, as demand is so high.
In contrast, Hillary Clinton stickers are readily available from her site, no waiting.
Mayor Sam called me to his office last week and gave me a choice, either cover the Tony Cardenas legal defense fund scandal, or write a restaurant review. Even though Tony Cardenas is an accident waiting to happen, (He was the lone Councilmember to vote FOR a Home Depot store in Sunland-Tujunga), I, being a bit hungry and armed with the Mayor Sam company credit card, chose the latter:
Miss Peaches
If the mere mention of sweet collard greens, tasty yams, cornbread, or hush puppies, conjures up pleasant memories of a youth spent in the South, as it did for me, then I have found the place where you can truly go home again.
This casual storefront cafe serves up the finest southern cuisine in the valley, if not in all of L.A..
The menu is particularly considerate of the vegetarians amongst us, as none of the side dishes are cooked or flavored with meat or chicken broth or otherwise. This is unheard of in the South, but very appreciated here. My carnivorous friends swear by the smothered chicken and fried pork chops they serve. I would suggest the "vegetarian pride" plate which comes with 5 different sides that you can choose from, each satisfying in portion and flavor.
The service is friendly, the soulful music relaxing, and the place is located only a couple of blocks from the Mayor Sam HQ.

Thanks AW! I'll give it a try, although I am not a big fan of synthetic meat, which seems to be prominent on their menu.

if you mash peaches and yogurt together, it makes a good face rub, polishes your skin.

I don't think Don Villar or Don Trujillo would eat there either. Who on the CLINTON campaign said that whites were voting for Barack to be cool. And said they had a "negro problem."
