No Match 2.0

matches

Bob Egelko is reporting in the San Francisco Chronicle today that a new version of "No Match" was unveiled by the Bush administration on Friday that threatens "businesses with prosecution unless they fire employees identified in government records as possible illegal immigrants." It was announced by the Department of Homeland Security and public comments are invited for the next 30 days.

Quote in favor:

"The no-match rule is an important tool for cracking down on illegal hiring practices while providing honest employers with the guidance they need," Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in a statement.

Quote in opposition:

"This misguided attempt to fit the square peg of immigration enforcement into the round hole of Social Security benefits is a guarantee of increased discrimination and erroneous terminations," said Kathleen Campbell Walker, president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

FOX 11 News has learned that the teenage gangmember charged with murdering high school football star Jamiel Shaw is illegally in the U.S. It's been more then a week since the LAPD announced the arrest of Pedro Espinoza, a member of the notorious 18th Street Gang... Now immigration and customs enforcement officials confirm Espinoza's illegal status. John Schwada brings us the story

The suspected street gang member charged in the shooting death of a high school football star may have been in the country illegally, an immigration official said today.

Espinoza was released from jail in an assault case the day before the March 2 killing of 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw Jr., a standout running back at Los Angeles High School, police said.

The suspected shooter, who is believed to have been born in Mexico, will be released to her agency's custody "if and when he is released from local custody," she said.

If Pedro Espinoza is deported are all the members of his family being depaorted as well? Should be I think. Just like the woman and her family from Drew St who should be deported.

And who does Walker represent? NOT the citizens and taxpayers who have the burdens of some employer saving a buck of two on cheaper help.

Wonder how many siblings this Espinoza has? If he's in the "life," they're all likely to be, then they have cousins and other relatives -- a lot of these people across generations are proud of their youth in the gangs.

If Espinoza's mother (does he have a father?) wouldn't have been, no way would he have dared kill someone the day he got out.

He'd been in and out of jail for years, should have been deported long ago. But is SP40 which forbids asking or noting legal status, what kept ICE from finding out earlier?

Seems ICE has to do its own investigations independent of the City and County law enforcement.

The federal government is costing our state and city billions of dollars by not enforcing immigration laws.

Los Angeles has many gangs such as MS-13 which was started by aliens from El Salvador, and the 18th st, gang was started by mexican immigrants. Pedro Espinoza is just one of thousands of illegal alien gang members in California.

Here is another great little story about the gang member with an AK-47who was killed in a shoot-out with cops.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/los_angeles_metro/la-me-avenues23feb23,1,3154129.story?

Leon was one of 13 children of Maria Leon, who lived at 3304 Drew St. until the city shut down the home last year with a narcotics abatement lawsuit. City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo called the home the gang's "mother ship." More than 40 arrests were made there in 2006, and the city attorney was attempting to ban Daniel Leon from the neighborhood before he was killed.

Like hundreds of residents in the neighborhood, the Leons originally hailed from the village of Tlalchapa, in Guerrero, Mexico, neighbors said.

That shared history breeds loyalty. Several residents interviewed Friday said they supported the Avenues. "I've been here 25 years and they've never disrespected me," said Modesta Hernandez. "On the contrary, they protect us. They help us."

I strongly encourage not hiring illegals, but employers shouldn't have to be the detectives. If an employee's Social Security number is sent to a government central bureau for a check, then it's the government responsibility to flag the worker and tell the employer. Fining innocent employers is not the answer -- how do they know if someone has a phony social security card?

It's not that difficult to tell the fake Id's sold at McArthur Park. But many employess pay cash to avoid all the trouble with legally paying an employee. When you have a legal employee you have to withhold SS, taxes and pay workers comp and etc. Just look at all the trouble and hassale a person has to go through to legally pay a house-keeper, maid, baby sitter etc. The state has to ease the burdens for people hiring a housekeeper or babay-sitter.

Many small companies just pay employess (legal and illegal) cash to avoid all the accounting and extra tax burden. When I need extra help, I just pay the person cash and keep the whole process under-the-table to avoid all the extra hassales involved in having an employee.

everyone just pays their maids cash if they're once a week. IF it gets to be a lot and a weekly rate, maids demand about $10.00/hour PLUS in the cases I know, "their ladies" buy them or help pay for cars and insurance because they usually also drive around the kids. The actual costs are very high and more than for a typical worker in a restaurant, store etc.

The maids demand all this as a minimum plus food (they raid the frig, and take food home for their kids). The rates are so high, no way are we somehow benefiting from all this illegal help -- illegals want the same as the rest or they threaten to turn you over the ICE and the INS, so it's not worth the risk.

Who benefits from this cheap labor? A handful of big agribusinesses? This is one case where it would be cheaper to just import the produce. Besides the fact that they use 80% of our water, the social costs they force on the rest of us it totally not worth it.

Many legislators have a proposal for "guest workers" on a seasonal basis, which is perfect. This is being implemented in some of our neighbor states, but they're having a problem with workers at minimum wage because they're used to having their every demand met here in L A.

Look at Janice Hahn's push for the "living wage" including for illegals at LAX-area hotels. They have no business meddling that way and alienating businesses. Plus, it's pure discrimination against one group of hotels.

Again, no net benefit to society from illegal immigration.

2:21: Perfect example of the radical socialist/ La Raza sense of "Entitlement" to take from the "gringos."

Even restaurant workers aren't allowed to steal food from the stores in the back to take home at will -- that's called stealing.

But you parasites (who clearly have no money or anything of your own) think it's horrible and cheap for a maid's employer to steal their food to take home to their kids. That's what SALARY is for.

Yeah, the illegals should protest in the streets whenever they don't get the Perrier, salmon and steaks and cheeses they want to steal to take home at will. Taking anything from the home without permission is called STEALING.

Maybe the maid's kids should take my kids' and my clothes and shoes and toys without asking too, right?

Viva La Raza.
