Meet me in Puerto Rico

Joseph Mailander a guy in laelsewhereemail

Late today, Hillary's even getting a little smug; and we can see why she might:

"I think I know what's happening and I believe I'm going to do very well tomorrow," she said. "I think that's going to be a very significant message to the country, and then we move on to Pennsylvania and the states coming up."

Word on the ground is that it's Hillary by 5+% in Texas and Hillary by more in Ohio. And she contends in Rhode Island but gets clobbered in Vermont, likely by ten or more.

Part of the reason Hillary thinks she knows what is happening in Texas is because, although there are no true voting results, the Lone Star State releases name data on early voters, making tea-leaf reading easy pickens in Texas. The early vote data demographic splits are said to favor Hillary with stronger than expected turnout in the Latino community. Also, women are voting in strong numbers, and late polling indicates higher than 52-48 among women favoring Hillary. Should the turnout mirror what happens tomorrow---and the past indicates it will---that is all good news for her.

Another reason is late-inning GOP gaming by order of the usual white prophets.

"See you in Puerto Rico," a Hillary staffer told me.

Puerto Rico's primary is the first week of...June.

As a female Puerto Rican in Los Angeles I am really offended by Hillary's arrogance and all she stands for. Voting for her for President is NOT change, it is just another 4 to 8 years for her ugly, womanizing husband.

Another Latina's sexist POV. When I was in Puerto Rico recently to visit some wealthy friends (whose social circle includes the Governor) I was shocked to realize the overt sexism still out there -- men laughing at women lawyers being able to win and hold respect, etc. That society is 40 years behind the mainland at least. And the husband is so arrogant as "the man of the house," everyone has to kiss his butt.

Don't project your Latina values on US, lady. Your hatred of strong women is an obstacle for Hillary, but you should clean up your own island, a beautiful place trashed by crime and masses of the poor on welfare who hate the U. S. and don't want to become a full state, but who want to be Americans so they can be entitled to our social benefits.

Does Hillary have the same Negro problem as Lyndon Johnson?

Hillary isn't arrogant. She's brilliant. How the hell can you be offended by ALL she stands for? You sound silly.

Her womanizing husband (as if any of us care who he sleeps with)won't be the president for another 4 to 8 years. She will. Big difference.

Pay attention down there in Puerto Rico.

Go vote for McCain.

Hillary sucks! She is just as corrupt as most of the other politicos in DC. If you really think she is going to create change, then I pitty you. I mean come on- she has our stupid mayor as one of her spokes people. I had to laugh at the photo op in East LA with Hillary and Villar eating tamales in some mom and pop restaurant.

Things will only get worse with her as President. It isn't about hating strong, smart women, it is about getting the right person in the office. She is just NOT it.

Hillary is a flip flopper who cannot take the heat. She is going to loose today and won't even make it to PR.

I too am a PR women living in the LA area and I wouldn't vote for Hillary either. She cannot be trusted and is not suitable for the job as President. She is part of the old Washinton DC guard, who are responsible for the immigration problem, the war, the cost of gas, our deficit, and more. She is not change.

She is not a flip flopper and she's not going to "loose". She'll win tonight.

And if she did suck, maybe Bill wouldn't have had to look elsewhere.

None of that is important though. The only important thing is that she wins and wins big. Obama cannot beat McCain. Hillary can.

So what if she narrowly wins TX, she is still down in the overall numbers.
Obama can win over McCain.
