Ugh, politics as usual One phallic device greases the other.
Why isn't Mirhala a society member. She probably did more to distract Mayor V. from his promise to "hold the Autry's feet to the fire" than anyone else on that list?
And we know for a fact she likes "old" stuff, too.
How many from the Southwest Society or as a Commissioner of the Mayors can afford $1,000 and why?

Members of The Southwest Society, including Native American tribal leaders, Southern California elected officials and community activists, have expressed thanks to the National Register and are supporting the Autry National Center’s application for Save America's Treasures funding.
The Southwest Society is dedicated to supporting the revitalization and sustenance of the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, which includes the Casa de Adobe. The Society will work in partnership with the Autry National Center to further a shared vision for the re-establishment and enhancement of these historic resources as premiere cultural destinations for Angelinos, visitors and scholars.

SOunds like a list of fools throwing money at a termed out, one issue loser who probably needs their money. Compadres - cut and run, if you turn off the money tap, suck ups will stop begging from you! Time you learned, , just because the surname is from the same region, doesn' mean they're not out for their own profit.
so---the people in bold can't give money to a political event of their choice? You're getting seriously lame here. And I'm just a reader, not a member of the Society or going to the fundraiser.

I'm guessing $1,000 would come out of the coffers of an organization rather than an individual. But if you feel passionately about a politician I can see coming up with $1,000. What I can't see is being passionate about Cedillo!

The Secret Society… I mean the Southwest Society is having a fundraiser for Cedillo? When are you having a fundraiser for the Southwest Museum? Isn’t that the reason for your existence? Almost five months and you have not collected a penny for the Southwest Museum rehabilitation. You are just a political group of wannabes and ring kissers for Autry and the Mayor.
Elliot Sekular works for Universal Studios, so it is in his best interest to kiss the feet of the Mayor so he can agree to the building plans of Universal Studios. Elliot and the Mayor are a mirror image of each other, unscrupulous, unethical fools. That’s why they need to drink so they can forget they are parasites.
Eliot Sekuler is a Vice President of Public Relations or Communications or something at NBC/Universal. He uses his "community activism" as a means to kiss up to the Mayor and members of the Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee, including Jose Huizar in who's district the Southwest Museum resides. His City Hall buddies, who he showers with free tickets to Universal events with movie stars, will make the decision whether or not the big NBC/Universal development projects will be approved at City Hall. Cozy!
Sekuler was the Arroyo Seco NC's representative to the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition until either the Mayor or Huizar or NBC/Universal pressured him to betray his own community and start trying to help the Autry/Mayor's Office sell the whopping LIE that the Southwest Society will ever do anything to maintain the Southwest Museum AFTER the City Council gives Jackie Autry permission to move the entire Southwest Museum over to the monster building she wants to build on taxpayer's land in Griffith Park.
So, Eliot works with Carol Jacques, Bill Rumble and other Northeast Democrats to raise money for Portantino, Cedillo and others in order to cultivate political "goodwill" for themselves and make sure these electeds stay in the Southwest Society (now that they know they were hoodwinked by the Mayor to lend their names to it).
These folks are the Astroturf de Autry. Fake "grass roots" support for one of the biggest frauds in Los Angeles History: the Southwest Society has no means to raise money unless Autry pays lobbyists behind the scenes to get some government money, put it in Sekuler's hand, and let him (falsely) claim in one of his endless press releases that the Southwest Society raised the money itself.
The Southwest Society is a puppet of Autry/Latham & Watkins/Steve Sugerman. Please step away from Eliot Sekuler's kool-aid press releases and no one will get hurt.
Why wont the Museum be "done" until 2011? Three years...longer than the gestation of an elephant...longer than the election of a new President and hopefully, longer than the election of a new Mayor.
If it never gets done...the new guy will be blamed...thats what Villa did last time and how he trained Huizar....set it back...so people forget....then you can do what you want...Elephant Hill, Vernon Dump, Wayvenwood..Downtown LA all lies from Huizar, Reyes and the Mayor

Perfect, celebrating ten years of wasted legislative time, staff time and failed attempts at driver licenses for illegal aliens. You can thank Sen. Cedillo for killing the Clinton campaign by keeping this issue in the papers for ten years, and got a NY governor to boldly go out on a limb and cause the downfall of a national campaign. I guess thanks for a great ten years...!
