Morning quick hits from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE"

Morning quick links to stories of interest.

Lincoln Heights community showed up in "MASS" to state their opposition to the Las Villas Project". But after hearing from many, a few, in the early hours of this day decided not to overturn the approval of the controversal project. To the people in Lincoln Heights, your version of "PEOPLE POWER" is just the start in returning political decision making to the citizens, not the likes of Ed Reyes and the LHNC.

The "Weekly of Record" dedicate "column feet" to the density debate, ie. "Zev vs. Antonio" Preview of 2009?

They also don't think much about the new "BARKER LAW". Poor Pee Wee loses his "wee wee" due to Big Government. New recruits for ALF?

Pico and Olympic draws the line of congestion at Fairfax. Lawsuits on the way? They sure are.

The "Sniper" takes aim at the Mayor regarding MTA, Puppy Love, and that City Council "number cruncher" who regales in panning the Mayor's budget proposal.

Waste at the "BOARD OF CHILD INDOCTRINATION" ie. LAUSD? Now something about padding timecards for work in the "PEOPLES ENCLAVE OF MT. WASHINGTON".

FREEDOM, FREE SPEECH, AND FREE ENTERPRISE!!!

Here Here RD CD14!

People power indeed, the turnout of the community scared the shit of these so called representatives and their greedy crony's.

The Lincoln Heights community turned out in force and I for one hope the rest of the city will support the efforts of the LH's community because it could be a catalyst for the whole city, and if other neighborhoods would support each other when these tin pot politicians and there "developer" friends try to shove there money making and community destroying schemes up everyones ass, then the people's voice's could finally be heard.

We need to stay on these f'rs ass's because they never go away for long, they'll be back unless they are afraid of getting stomped and their gravy train gets derailed.

Power to the people! All the People!

Good morning Mr. Quixote,

From what I heard, the turnout was inspiring. Barry's words are so app. for the job they did last night. this was just one battle in a war that Reyes/LHNC should avoid.

See here is the thing...

Zev talks about what people wanted in the 60s or 80s but what Los Angeles is not what it was in the 60s or 80s. Half to 2/3 those people are either dead or moved on.

And that's one reason its a huge mistake to have lots of old people making these decisions. We need to hear from the 18 year olds who will be homeowners in 2023, not the folks who will be dead then. Those kids are the ones who will have to live with whatever results today's development brings.

It was pathetic to see 3 Midget Mayor appointees to the ELA Planning Commission decide against the will of the people.

The backers of Las Villas did not even show up to the hearing.

The community was there to show their collective support against the project and if fell upon deaf ears to three wannabe planning wonks.

Talk about a done deal. This process has been nothing but a sham. Why pretend that we live in a democratic society when this absolute bullshit goes down like it did.

Like the old chant from back in the day: "The people united will never be defeated!"

Bad spelling was hard enough. You realize, dude, that this opening sentence is absolutely incomprehensible (that means it can't be understood!)

"Lincoln Heights community showed up in 'MASS; to state their opposition to the Las Villas Project". But after hearing from many, a few in the early hours of this day decided again overturning the approval of the controversal project."

Was the approval stayed? Was it overturned? Would anyone NOT in attendance there know from this description?

Nope!

(Start with the basics -- first inform, THEN editorialize).

Talk about totally disenfranchising the community. Those planning commission nitwits (Tony Villar appointed) orchestrated their show very well. They could not do the right thing regardless of the hundreds of
community members disapproving liquor at Las Villas. Those commissioners followed the THE EASTSIDE MACHINE AGENDA to a tee.

So, Red Spot, your excuse for being illiterate is that the mayor himself is inarticulate?

But he's not joining any debating clubs, and also has other paid spokespeople to get his message across. YOU however post on a blog where the written word is the only means of commuication.

Someone needs to invent a form of Viagra for hack bloggers who destroy the English language.

Write-agra, maybe? If you're little "pencil" is still moving 4 hours later call a wordsmith.

Yesterday's - oh I mean early todays ELA Planning Commission was a total fiasco. The commissioners ran the clock with a lot of babbling to try wearing the people out. Also stalled until the media got fed up and left. I saw smugness in a couple of these idiots - "should I do the right thing or should I listen to orders" - they should have listened to the will of the community and functioned as
dully appointed officials. Ah! but lets us not forget who appointed these flunkies. I wonder if this is a preview of what TONY V. wants to do to all L.A. schools if he takes over LAUSD. Wow,
video games and booze next to every school - just think of the revenue !
Monica Garcia where are you when we need you? Oh I forgot, you are also holding on to TONY'S coattails.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish):

What? We have a spelling and grammar sot here? (Looks amused) You know, it pays to enrich your word power for speaking well is, if you will, an art. (Sighs) But then again, its not how you spell it but rather how you use it, savvy?

Let's see if we can do one better, shall we? I would surmise that the Red Spot is indeed fallible, and that his foibles are fodder for rather caustic remarks from other wankers such as the ones found here. But just as the Spot has a few foibles which he foists upon us on a semi-regular basis, the man is not one to act in a temerarious fashion. Raillery such as his should be recognized as just that, and should be encouraged so as to allow neologism to flourish. Throwing out trammels for no reason other than to attempt a complete bouleversement of what the Spot espouses is not only wrong....its (whispers) iniquitous.....savvy?

(Winks) I'd like to think that as an Oxford grad with a Harvard Ph.D., I'm the wearer of the smarty-pants. However, that distinction, if you will, lies with someone else who, we would like to point out, has grown a little to big for his britches....savvy?

Live and let live, you self-important moron. Its people like you who honestly believe that they have 'listeners' who actually care what they think about and the topics they rant about. They believe that their opinions matter in the grand scheme of things. Self-important morons are typically idealists who believe that one-person-can-make-a-difference bullshit applies to them personally or that they are somehow more enlightened than the rest of us schmucks. Self-important morons tend to be rather self-involved or often highly opinionated about one particular subject area and feel that their random meanderings on the subject are justified by their profound and unique insight into it. Truth is, nobody really phucking cares what you think. You deserve to be sodomized with a red-hot poker and slowly eaten alive by army ants.

I believe the rants about "spelling" started out with something as simple as "Red Spot can't be understood here." Which, if you read the way the first two sentences of this posting were written, was a 100 percent accurate complaint.

Yes, now it's been corrected -- proof it was gobbledygook to begin with -- (but it wouldn't have been without someone saying "I can't understand what happened at that meeting you're discussing from this poorly written intro")

It was absolutely not possible to understand which way the decision went re: Las Villas, until the post was re-written, post-complaint.

If that ain't important to people, who apparently already knew here and just wanted to spew venom, then -- GREAT.

Just skip the usually confusing descriptions of the issues, and go right to the criticisms. Don't bother trying to inform -- don't waste the space.

(That must be the "new direction" Mayor Sam wanted to take the blog in? "F-ck being informative and relatively literate; we're too busy commenting!")

Congrats Lincoln Heights. Goes to show there is power in numbers and when people really are passionate about an issue and take the time to fight it things turn around. Let us know on this blog when the next meeting is time and location and everyone against too many damn liquor stores or establishments selling liquor in poor communities should be called out. Dumb ass Ed Reyes!!!

RS CD14 (I seem to always post up RD CD14 cause it stands for "Research and Development" sorry),

Don't let the nitpickers and haters move you off the path.
These guys are masters of this shit as witnessed by Reyes and his butt buddies when confronted by the people of Lincoln Hts at last nights meeting.

First they plead ignorance, then they pass the buck, then they have to go take a piss, then they ask for order, then they try to mau mau the people, then they try to confuse the issue's, then they use there position to try and convince everyone that they are superior beings and are only trying to help the poor uneducated masses by doing them a favor, because we the people are too stupid to understand the intricacies of such a noble gesture on their parts, and finally if all else fails they try the old "divide and conquer" routine using agents provocateurs and hoping peoples prejudices and suspicious nature will provide the
fodder to initiate the people's own self destruction.

This seemingly small issue in Lincoln Hts can be a catalyst for a citywide revolt and the taking back of control of our own city and neighborhoods from these so called "representatives" who are actually "sheep in wolves clothing"

I hope we don't stray from the issues and allow ourselves to get caught up in the same old morass of confusion and surrender.

All power to the people!

Excellent idea, "Mobile Rapid Response Teams of Supporters" would drive these "purveyors of malodorous machinations" right into a gran Mal seizure.

It can happen and should, this Lincoln Heights travesty our "representatives" are pursuing could be the match in the underbrush that lights the firestorm of public outrage that only lacks a strong Santa Ana wind at the moment.
Great idea RS CD14! Keep the faith and keep up the pressure.

Didn't Monica Garcia graduate from Sacred Heart high school? And didn't Ed Reyes graduate from Sacred Heart Elementary?

What kind of money is being thrown around that these two elected officials will sell out their own base?

February 29, 2008 4:45 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

4:45 a.m.- That's a big leap to say they will "sell out their own base" because they each attended a Sacred Heart school and then years later they are in opposition with its position on an issue.

How is "their own base" defined?

Then, does that compel making decisions that do not diverge from that base?
