Karen Bass to be the new Speaker
The Sacramento Bee and the Capital Weekly are reporting that SoCal Assemblywoman Karen Bass has the votes needed to become the next Assembly Speaker.This will maintain the No Cal, So Cal split of the leadership positions of the Senate and Assembly respectively.
Bass replaces Fabian Nunez who leaves under a dark cloud of questionable spending practices.

Karen Bass will be terrific! She has the experience and heart of a community organizer, Kudos to her!
The Antonio legacy lives on. And the result - as with Antonio and Fabian - will be more scandal and budget cuts. But with a Republican Gov. there is a ready made scapegoat.

And is Bass committed to staying through the end of her term, in 2010? or will she run for either L.A. City Council or State Senate, depending on results of the 2nd Dist. supervisorial race???
The Northeast Dems were pushing for Portantino and/or DeLeon. Why? They are tight with Nunez and hoping to be tight with someone they have ties to. It looks like Nunez and Friends are fast losing the support they once enjoyed.
Aye, mayhap God in his infinite goodness bless us with His mercy! Mayhap He shall turn their hearts o' stone to hearts of flesh, and we mayest yet be rid o' those who dictateth what we shall eat or drink?
