Measure S Phone Tax Scam Update
Lots of phone tax stuff here - and the battle to kill Measure S (for Shady!) is well underway.
First off can you kill a phone tax? Yes, the Federal Government did. And they found that the income lost from the phone tax was more than made up for by revenue increases as a result of the tax going back into the economy.
How about this - a liberal is opposed to the phone tax!
When is a Mayoral aide not campaigning for the phone tax on the City dime? When he's campaigning for the tax.
Pasadena also has a phony phone tax on the ballot, it's called Measure D. The good folks fighting that battle have a web site here.
The Daily News agrees - the phone tax "sucks!"
Make sure you email, fax or snail mail all the Mayor Sam blog reports about the phone tax to your friends. They need to know and they need to know to not be deceived by the "reduction" title.

Too bad Mayor Sam's blog is paper-less, otherwise I would send it to my friends to line the bottom of their bird cage.
But the birds might get sick from reading some much bull-shit.

Keep spinning my friend! If you can actually debate us on facts and not your birdshit, we'd be glad to hear.
Tell the Mayor you want to take it to the next level.

I'm a liberal. I oppose the phone tax.

Wrong thread to ask this Michael Mayor Sam Higby, as it is off topic, but speaking of liberals-do you think a social liberal can win the Republican nomination? Bloomberg, for example? He's news tonight.

I belong to four large business and trade associations in LA. While one publicly supported the tax (and we fought about it), the rumblings behind closed doors at all of these groups is we are all really tired of this Mayor and Council.
A big push is on to find and support new alternatives to these "legislators".
Time to throw the bums out!

Update from STNC meeting last night, The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council voted to support "no on S"
Mayor Sam said:
I think a liberal Republican could win the nomination considering that the conservative Republicans are not running strong yet, Huckabee or Romney or Thompson haven't garnered support yet at the level of a Reagan or a Bush. That creates enough of a vacuum for McCain or Giuliani as well as the fact that both show strong promise for beating a Democrat like Hillary or Obama.

Do the Blogging Burros really believe everyone who calls them Burros has to be a third floor spinster? It is obvious the fat man has a hate for the mayor and anything democrat.
Has it ever occurred to the Fat Burro that regular citizens think you’re a fool and blow-hard who considers himself an "expert" on every subject including float design and manufacturing?
There is not a single person alive who can be an expert on every subject you write about and criticize everybody else for. But keep on with your illusions of grandeur, which have you believing we are all third floor political spinsters.

There is the typical racist comment of a Mayor Sam supporter. Higby tells us of his hate for racism, but the fat hypocrite has a tone of racism through out his blog.

INVESTOR ALERT!
INVESTOR ALERT!
Posted this earlier this morning on my other blog. It's happening. Now may not be too late. (I say it is not too late!)
The Fed is sending strong signals in speeches that it is going to cut rates aggressively and admits things are worse than they thought.
So if you lost your shirt this year, so far on stocks...strategy update sources say this may be a near TEMPORARY bottom -- and gold will go up a lot today and continue to go up.
Can some one lend me $10,000 so I can buy $10,000 in gold. (Pleeeeeeease....I'll be you're best fri-eeeeeeend!)
full story analysis -- click "daily blog" link
I don't know to what extent Bertankie's informal comments will have today...but I think the scenario above is the likely one.
I guess we'll find out?

I do not know if this incident actually happened or not but given the fact that the Gulf of Tonkin 'Incident' never happened, but whose supposed actions directly led the US into one of its longest wars in history (Vietnam or American War depending on where you are from), I would be very cautious about how this event is viewed.
Mr. David Rockefeller himself tells Americans they should study history and travel the world. I agree and have done so. The outcome of both is I am very jaded as to the 'truth' that precipitates the excuse for war.
As a very wise man once told me, there is no such thing as 'coincidence'. And Mr. Bush's visit to the Middle East 'coinciding' with this event is just a bit too 'coincidental'. War with Iran is of course inevitable but it will be interesting to see which 'manufactured' event actually proceeds it and how history will actually discover the event to have occurred.

That type of comment went out in 1968.....maybe your too young to know that all Americans are equal and a comment like that is bigotry.

I think that Mayor Sam and the readers assume that the spinners that get on here are 3rd or 4th floor hacks because they never debate what the bloggers say. They only criticize them for being homeless or fat or drunk. That's fine but it tells us your motivation is to fire back and not debate.
The readers who are not spinners and make rebuttals to the blog like Jack Hoff, Captain Jack, Joe B. and some others tell the Mayor or Zuma WHY their point is wrong.
If you don't have an agenda you'd make an actual argument. But having worked in City Hall myself we all know that every office has someone designated to read this blog and to post rebuttals. The Mayor's office especially.

Mayor Sam,
I have a question I don't know if you or anyone else can answer for me:
If a PTA Unit decides to oppose S, is it all right to post flyers saying so on its school grounds, specifically if the campus auditorium will be used as a polling place on Feb. 5th?
Thanks!
xoxo

No polling within 100 feet of a polling place.

Got my ballot. Eight things to decide.
91 transportation funds
92 Community Colleges
93 limits on Legislators
94/95/96/97 - Indian Gaming
On the back page
S - reduction of tax rate; modernization of communications user tax. Proposition S
I know what to do with all except 93. I know I dont want them extended but I am not sure to write Yes or No.
League of Women Voters is neutral.
Which do I want mark to get knucklehead Nunez out.

1:12 Does that mean flyers can't be posted up until the day of the election, and then taken down?

I disagree 11:56 AM. You can have an agenda and make a strong argument, as we're all seeing with the candidates in the presidential debates. Every one knows the identity of the lone nut with the "homeless, fat, drunk" posts, and that person does not work for the city nor even allowed on city property.
I know city hall staff read this blog and maybe some post, but they're posting the decent arguments, whether or not anyone agrees with them, not the "your're drunk" crap. I doubt seriously that the third floor staff is posting that someone is ugly or someone is fat to defend an agenda. It's stupid, even for the third floor.

Not so fast Dick Tracy, I ocassionally call Higby fat, but I never talk about Zuma being homeless. And nobodye on this blog knows my identity. If the Blogging Burros cam make racial and stupid comments, then I will do the same.
I am not a nut, more of a stud, if you know your nuts and bolts. Savvy?

From the time the polls open to the time the polls close, no political flyers can be posted within the 100 foot area around the polls. ( I think 7:00 AM to 8:00PM). Other than that post away!

NUTS, YOUR JUST A BAD CHEAP SCREW
SAVVY?

To the contrary, every one knows who you are and how you operate.
You post ugly, racist or degrading comments. Then you start spinning that it must be someone on the third floor.
Perhaps you sobered up or realized that your insults have made you ever the more unpopular and less anonymous especially in city departments where they had already succeeded at having you removed.
Every one here knows who you are. We even know why you do it. A city staff guy working for his boss has a decent reason for spinning their agenda. You are the anonymous "Fat Hack" and you do it because you're sick in the head.

4:47 is right! Get rid of Nunez!
You can't defend the indefensible; and Villar is a CROOK and Measure S is a SHITTY SCAM! He spent millions to be sure that the verbiage in Measure S is guaranteed to pull the wool over the eyes of citizens.
THANK GOD FOR JOHN AND KEN, ET AL!!!
Unless and until we get rid of all the Mexican socialists who are stinking up our gov., and unless we stop paying for the freeloader illegals, L.A. and CA will continue going into the sewer.
I truly hope CA goes to hell so that the rest of the country will see what the Mexicans have done to this country! Wake up and smell the burritos!
