Car 940, Where are You?

JM, Car 940, Where are You? 12.18.07
Note to LAPD: if you are looking for a squad car that has gone missing for a few days, we may have located it on a pleasant, quiet hilltop public rue in Mt. Washington, across the street from a charming pomegranate tree that has good fruit. Readers tell us it's car number 940 and it's been there for six days...you may like to check your inventory. Hope all is well on that street with all the construction and whatnot.

Perhaps the LAPD can conveniently "leave" a car for a few days in front of my house so nobody steals the copper wiring from the street light outside.

You sure thats not Huizars 'other car and driver?

Maybe its the Mayors "old" (EXPERIENCE NOT AGE) LAPD driver". Another lady who knew her way around town.

I'd like an LAPD car parked outside to protect my nice new BMW too.

at least the car's not assaulting anybody with a stick. its not firing foam bullets at anyone point blank. its not arresting anyone or violating their civil rights by ordering them to move.
its not judging some vendor's goods for utility factor as opposed to expressive factor.

so Matt Dowd says leave it.

That's not a real police car. It's one of those Hollywood prop cars. Nothing to see here. You guys are just looking for stuff.

If there's nothing to see, why leave it there for 6 days so that there is something to see.

That's not a police car. Once again Zuma Dogg has created a distraction. The real issue is not who is our mayor doing and when did he do her, but how long our city is going to have to suffer at the hands of a ski-capped brain addled wigger who abuses the first amendment so much we have to consider rolling it back.

I hate to disappoint you, but it really is a police car sitting there all by itself. If it's still there tomorrow, I'll get a photo of it and the plate number as PROOF. Unless of course you want to take the bold step of calling me a liar....

My dear Third Floor Spinster, Room 300 (12:36 p.m.): you obviously are spinning without the approval of your GM, one Tony "Pancho" Villa. In his mind, we are a part of Mexico, and the first amendment doesn't apply under the Mexican Constitution.

Psychics: lost police badge.
Could you please tell me where to look for my husband's lost police badge? He and I both remember him wearing it last friday. When he was getting dressed for work he noticed that it was missing. We have searched his clothing, dresser drawer, closet and the car. We are at a loss to know where to look for it. He is going to be in serious trouble if we can't find it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much.

12:50 "Ex Officio" screeches to whoever doubts it's a real cop car "wanna call me a liar?" so it's gotta be that bald vermin-hatted crybaby loser, the mutt himself. Unless Joe, who claims the post, is suddenly turning into mutt in his desperation for attention? I doubt that, so mutt what is your smelly butt doing all the way in Mt. Washington, clear the other side of town from Venice Beach? Your fellow peddlers/ nutcases throw you out of there, too?

Why do we hate your stinky guts so much along with matt and mike hunt, yeah, say that fast and together?

Because your abuse of the first amendment might force public comment to be scaled back for all, you attention-grabbing lowlifes.

Your mate matt even had to try to hone in on agendized comment about the dog park at Runyan Canyon when there were 3 minutes left on that for ALL speakers -- wearing his idiotic gas mask as "Joe Public."

He doesn't live anywhere near there or have a dog or care about that issue. Just wanted to take time away from people who took time to go to City Hall to talk about a serious issue near to their hearts.

You guys are lower than the scum beneath the feet of an elephant.

I've seen this "empty police car" syndrome twice before:

at school, after a second consecutive weekend of vandalizing, it sat for about a week.

and also in the case of a family member who (at the time) was an LAPD CRASH officer. Word on the street was a certain gang had put a hit on him. he had the car in front of his house for a long time until the talk had simmered down.

And while an empty police car may not exactly be a deterrent to crime (once the bad guys figure out its a decoy), it's a lot cheaper than having two officers sitting inside of it instead of being out on the street. I don't have a problem with an empty car sitting as a deterrent to a threat.

i stand corrected: i've observed the "empty police car" phenom thrice, the third car having been parked on the northeast side of the Northridge Fashion Center (in the parking area closest to Claim Jumper). That police car sat in that parking lot for so long, it turned brown from the accumulated days and days of dust and dirt. In fact, the decoy jig was pretty much up when some smartypants kids (I'm guessing) wrote "WASH ME" on the windshield. I wish I had taken a picture of it with my phone. It was that amusing.

Kinda takes all the purpose outta the decoy when the car is covered in dust graffitti, non? Oui!

HELLLLOOOO PEOPLE. It is a black/white LAPd car and is being used as a deterrent. People aren't as smart as all of you posting and think its a "real" car. Trust me crime in that neighborhood has been zero with that car parked. However, why should the Mayor have this type of special treatment. With the taxes we pay we should all have one car in each neighborhood.

Why don't you paint the mutt's van black and white and put it in various hoods, maybe for a daily rental? The bum could sit in it, in a renta cop outfit, and if anyone peeks in, start rappin' at 'em and really scarin' the shit out of 'em.

Stops crime "before it happens" and gives a bum a legit job and bucks.

That is as long as his buds matt and mike hunt say that fast a few times don't show up too, in their KKK outfits and Nigga and gas mask shit, and ruin the hood.

I'm surprised the van hasn't lifted off by itself yet with all the methane and noxious fumes from cheap pot and things that go bump in the dark we don't want to think about.

Spray paint the thing black and white overnight, add a helium tank and our problems are solved.

Big friggin deal, many police departments park an empty police car as a deterrent to crime, speeding etc.

So what is the big deal??

You Blogging Burros have to find something of importance to bitch and whine about.

Hey, was that the Good Year blimp earlier this evening, barely visible through the fog and rain, or was it zuma mutt's van taking off like the witches of Oz?

Or are reports true, that it was Sam, auto-powered by his own methane?

The hot air put out by any of the burros could have done it, though.

Confirmations, anyone?

“Porta-Cop”
Submitted by Roger Marshutz
Speeding is an ongoing problem in the Glen.
About 7 years ago I came up with this idea. I
photographed an officer on his bike and had a
full size display made of him. I then would
take him up to Ravenwood and place him by
the road facing traffic going south down the
Glen. He worked - I would watch tail lights go
on as cars sped by him. Four TV stations ran a
story about “Porta-cop” and he appeared in
the Los Angeles Times and Westways
Magazine. He now is standing guard at West
Traffic, the police station on Venice near La
Brea. If there is any one interested in slowing
traffic by taking him up the Glen please feel
free to call me......
I rememberd reading this years ago thought i would post it here

Highly placed LAPD source of mine says, NOPE, can't afford to just PARK police cars unless there's a known, verifiable threat against a person or location. (We asked for the same -- PRETTY PLEASE!)

In which case, they wouldn't just PARK a car.

THE REAL ISSUE IS THE NEW STREET.

How does your's look, mine hasn't been resurfaced in over 40 years, and according to the City won't be in the forseeable future.

Believe me I pay more tax than A.V.

This is rich.

The mayor raised our trash fees for new cops and all we got were empty cop cars.

Parks is probably enraged about it for some reason or another..mostly because it was done on Bratton's time...or whatever it is that Bernie is always whining about.

December 19, 2007 12:42 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I agree. I'm not all that happy that my trash fees were yanked several notches higher all for more cops on the street. And then for someone to actually see a vacant police car parked in front of the Mayor's house for SEVEN DAYS now really gets me hot under the collar. But I suppose I can take some small amount of pleasure when the Mayor gives an impassioned speech about raising taxes (i.e., the phone tax) all in the name of putting more cops on the street, and remembering that an LAPD police car sat in front of HIS house, parked on the street for SEVEN DAYS. Apparently we don't need that extra car on the street with crime the way it is. I hope the neighbors report it as abandoned and have it towed away.

Between the cop car and the truck, how does one exit the driveway? Tomorrow's headline: Tony Villar booked for entrapping ex wife at home, when she tried to leave her home, she was killed by a speeding gangbanger. Tony Villar held for murder.
