(Although I think Hunt is protected, and council is powerless to prevent it -- I don't want people to think ZD would be using that choice of wording and that kind of mask to prove the point. But Mike is Mike -- and at the end of the day -- it's turning into serious stuff -- and I bet Council starts working overtime to fix the Venice Beach issue that brought the three of us to the Council meetings in the first place. (Pandora's box, y'all!!!) How come CBS 2 website said, "Zuma Dogg's posse prompts Council to (beep speech)" -- when I was not even at the meeting that day.
And now, for all the things I've fought for at City Hall -- again, I get mentioned over THIS -- and I was no where to be seen! (see article)
And how about Jack Weiss. WOW! He's pretty smart, if he doesn't say so himself:

They let illegal vendors sell unsafe food and all kinds of counterfeit merchandise all over the streets of Los Angeles 24/7...but some douchebags decided no more ZD shirts or incense at Venice Beach -- after the dumb-ass Mayor sold us permits! City Council debates wearing of masks

On Friday, (a debate escalated) over whether people should be allowed to wear masks while testifying before the council.
In both instances, the debates were prompted by City Hall gadflies who scrutinize the council and testify about everything from their protest rights to special permit waivers awarded by the council.
This time, however, instead of moving to adopt an outright ban, the council decided to seek a legal opinion on whether the city can ban masks during council meetings.
Since then, Hunt and several others, including Matt Dowd - who wore a bandanna at one meeting last week and demanded to be called "Joe Public" - and Zuma Dogg have become City Hall regulars testifying on a number of items.

You geniuses have found yet another way to waste our taxpayer dollars.
But, if you think this is going to get you the right to sell your trash in front of rent paying and tax paying stores, you have another think coming.
Why do you think you got bumped in the first place? It was because the merchants complained about your presence costing them sales.
The Councilman is not going to "give in" and you are not going to win this.
But, keep wasting your worthless lives trying and the city will grind you down like they have lots of other fools.
One day, you'll awaken and find that you are old and gray (except you, baldy ZD) and your lives have been nothing but one giant protest.

God! There are some many more important issues than whether a gadfly should be able to where a mask at council meetings.
The gang problem is out of control. The schools suck. The city faces an "emergency" over the phone tax. The governor is calling a fiscal emergency. And the Daily News wastes ink on this crap? Unbelievable.
First of all Matt Dowd showed his ignornance when he stepped to the microphone and said "F--- You Eric Garcetti. How immature!!! Then he wears a scarf like the one gang bangers from the Crips wear and the anacharists who protest and invade peaceful marches throwing urine and feces at cops. And then he wonders why wearing masks are dangerous. Get a clue Matt, get a job, take a shower and go to a mental therapist to ask why you are such a freak. The Mayor keeps talking about gang violence so why hasn't he done anything to help the kids with being charged to play after school?
....Charging that students from low-income homes will be evicted from athletic fields, a law firm representing the San Fernando Valley's largest youth sports program has asked the Los Angeles Unified School District board to reconsider plans to charge for after-school facilities use. Many of the 10,000 students who participate in the nonprofit Valley Youth Conference's programs will lose their only regular after-school activity, John Carpenter, a partner at Carpenter & Zuckerman, wrote in a letter to the board.
"This is an illegally imposed tax on families, and these school grounds are already paid for by our tax dollars. This is an unfair policy of charging school-age children to use their own schools," said Carpenter, representing the Valley Youth Conference
It is to be expected the 3rd and 4th floor spinners and wannabe spinners will be here to turn this into a Zuma Dogg issue. But their narrow little self serving pea brains don't get the bigger picture. Someone posted what Ronald Reagan once said that if there was anyone good working in government, private industry would have snatched them up.
And its not Zuma Dogg that's causing the spending, its Jackass Weiss and the Clowncil spending one moment of theirs and the City Attorney's time on it. This is not a major issue requiring attention.
And Rick Orlov is wasting his time too. He mentions event waivers. How about doing an article on that? That has a FAR larger negative effective, thousands of times more, than silly antics by Dowd, Hunt and Zuma.
Without commenting on the merit's of Hunt's particular argument, there is something powerful about the image of a black man dressing as a klansman to stage a political protest. It may not be comfortable for Jackass Weiss but its as American as the Boston Tea Party.
You can't mess with people's right to protest the government. Now go find a real problem to solve.

I appreciate your comments. Regarding, "guilt by association" -- what can I say.
I've been a one man show at City Hall (Matt and Mike went one way, I went another) -- I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS STUFF. I wasn't there for any of this.
When Mike first started to use that certain "symbolically banned word" over a year ago --
I told matt and mike I didn't want to drive in the car with them...
And I started taking the bus myself, rather than ride in the same car...because although I fight for first amendment rights -- I am not fighting to use THAT word --
or wear THAT kind of mask.
BUT YES, sometimes Matt and Mike show up the same day Zuma does. But I haven't been at the council meeting for ANY of this.
Why is it "guilt by association"?
Meanwhile, I think Hunt has the law on his side.
And Matt and Mike will tell you...I spent countless hours trying to convince Mike not to use that "symbolically banned word" -- but Mike is his own boss and disagreed with me on the issue.

Does Hunt and Dowd get "association credit" for all the speeches I gave about LAUSD, condo-conversions, tenant's rights, "dumb" smart growth, Grand Ave project, and all the other things I talk about?

HUIZAR CD14, REYES, CD 1, have vendors who vend on almost every corner;food, clothes, fruit, drugs, on Figueroa, York Blvd, Eagle Rock Blvd,Colorado Blvd; next to every school (ice cream, cotten candy, dope, etc), and they allow "street restaurants" meats,tacos's etc on Figueroa, York Blvd, Eagel Rock Blvd and Colorado after other businesses close.
On Ave 51 and Buchannan, near the grammar schools, between 7:30 and 8:15am in the morning the "hot chocolate vendors" cause the streets to be conjested because the cars park anywhere to buy the hot chocolate before the school day starts. They block traffic but no one cares...its "champurrado" a special treat. In the summer the vendors sell tamales.
They pay no taxes but do pay "taxes' to the Mexican Mafia who probably contributes a lot to CD1 & CD14 Councilmen.
No wonder legimitate business dont want to do anything in the northeast betweeen the graft riddled panning, building and safety departments and illegal vendors who pay no health inspections, business taxes and are APPROVED TO OPERATE BY THE MAYOR, COUNCILMEN REYES AND COUNCILMAN HUIZAR and the Mexican Mafia of the northeast.

Zuma claiming he's not part of this gang is pretty chicken. He inspired them to push the envelope this way, by yelling in City Hall to where he's had to be reminded to be quieter many times, he's danced, and I'm quite sure he wore a mask before himself -- he featured it himself on YouTube.
The Brown Act they keep quoting was not designed for this.
Until recently, the Supervisors allowed a person to comment only every 3 months, which is too restrictive -- but some controls like that need to be placed on these people. The DN calling them "gadflies" is way too easy on them.
I don't want to hear Zuma's awful singing and rapping when I'm at city Hall, and the abuse all three hurl at the Councilmembers especially the President is awful, an insult to our city and civility.
Immature, pointless antics like this, plus being forced to listen to the N word and people in KKK outfits because they refuse to obey the law, aren't what the 1st Amendment is intended to protect.

Michael Hunt wore his "outfit" at Van Nuys Council meeting earlier this month.
Then, this week...it came to my attention that council had their bogus mask ban on the agenda (OBVIOUSLY cause of Hunt's outfit at Van Nuys).
So I called Matt on Tuesday morning and said, "Bro, they're trying to ban masks at the Council meetings. Are you going to the meeting today?"
He wasn't necessarily planning on going that morning -- but obviously, he saw the significance of the issue -- and that's when he turned in the "Joe Public" card and wore the bandana. (I know some folks didn't like that Matt cussed at Eric AFTER he called him by "Matt Dowd" refusing to call the name written on the card -- then asking Matt to take off his mask, too (so people could see who is talking, which is B.S.)
Now personally, I wouldn't have reacted that way (Cussing at Eric)...but I don't get my panties in a wad over it.
BUT THEN...on Friday Michael shows up in the "costume" and the "symbolically banned word" is back on the front-burner --
and that's not my approach...
i wish he would have tested the "mask law" with another mask (like the Gene Simmons mask ZD wore -- or simple bandana Matt wore, or any Halloween mask...or whatever.
And I wish the 1st Amendment fight was over something other than that "symbolically banned word".
So then, a lot of people who may have supported the initial first amendment fight -- are forced to take the other side/pull any support they may have given you,

I probably shouldn't even comment...but since your comment on the situation IS a logical one.
I'll let you in on a little secret.
In MY opinion, Hunt is doing this to try and get council's attention on the venice beach issue. (mike is actually BANNED from Venice Beach -- and councilmembers are starting to realize that he never should have been banned -- and that it is going to cost them $$$. (Not 100% for sure...but I have been following this -- and Dowd/Hunt haters will be sad to hear that the Federal Judge has already said that if he is forced to make a decision, he will be siding with Hunt/Dowd. (And the judge has been bending over backwards -- BEGGING the city to fix it on their own -- before he has to make his OWN ruling.)
So, in my opinion, even though Michael is a lot smarter and knowledgeable than people may realize (because of the way he conducts himself at these meetings)...it's not so much that he is fighting for first amendment (even though that IS part of it...and he IS passionate about first amendment -- and doesn't like his rights to be messed with --
If it wasn't for what was going down at Venice Beach...I don't think he would have been going down to city hall to push first amendment issues.
So yeah, he's using the rules against them -- to try and get them so fed up with this cat and mouse game -- that they will fix the fucking problem at Venice. I really don't think Mike will be showing up at City Hall once he is allowed to get back to work on the beach -- as protected by the first amendment.
I know you City Hall spinner will start with that, "Selling junk across from taxpaying stores" non-sense. Sorry...that simply has ZERO (0) to do with this issue.

For the record, I had a phone conversation with Zuma Dogg the day after he refused to ride with Mike Hunt and Matt Dowd anymore to the Council meetings. Zuma Dogg told me it was all because of Mike's mouth.

Dowd happens to be a fellow vendor to Hunt, and joined the legal action as a co-plaintiff when violated by LAPD.
Dowd was a media professional (photographer) in Australia and documents and records the images and events (for personal use and future litigation).
Matt did express his desire to extend his seasons greetings to the blogosphere. (excepting Eric G's family, who were crossed off the list for blatant corruption with campaign finance for sweet Eric's re-election, and for Eric's failure to preserve anonymity of the public during a televised meeting)
