Thursday Hotsheet at 3 a.m.

JM, Grand Central Bike Rack, 12.11.07

He tried to take over the District; he padded the board with dittohead candidates; he went to the State for permission; a million or so was spent; nothing really worked. Now, a day after both quotidien fishwraps called the Mayor's money-without-a-plan microdistrict a "victory," the UTLA may challenge some results at two of the three affected high schools. It never ends.

Trojans are promised a longterm offer sometime today. Proximity is not entitlement; the Commission should not give the Coliseum away just because the alum network is upping the pressure and leaning on everyone and her mother to do so. USC no more wants Pasadena than the Coliseum wants to lose USC; don't throw that chip away.

° ° ° ° °

The national fishwrap of record follows the Times on the LACMA gift. The gift is a staggering 130 pieces, but you know all those Giacommettis and Klees look the same. Yawn.

Don't get too worked up over the prospect of People v. Dogg or even Garcetti et al. v. Dogg as prospective First Amendment cases should Council institute and enforce a mask law. As recently as 2004 a Circuit Court (the Second) ruled (in KKK v. Kerik) that the First Amendment does not protect wearing masks especially if wearing a mask is not an essential element of the message being delivered. This Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal.

E'en so---when was the last time you saw a City Hall beat print guy toeing First Amendment waters?

Joeseph,

Thanks for the info on the mask. Here's my question, in all seriousness (for anyone who may be able to answer):

If you ask someone to remove the mask BEFORE you hear them speak their first word...how do you know one way or the other if "wearing a mask is not an essential element of the message being delivered", or not?

How about holding a piece of paper in front of your face as you are speaking to cover your identity.

Are you allowed to hold a piece of paper in front of your face?

How about covering your face with your hands. Or if you have long hair like a rockstar, can you let your hair cover your face, or would Eric ask you to get a haircut, "so people can see who is speaking."

SEE, that's the messed up part...Eric says, "So people can see..." IT IS NOT REQUIRED THAT PEOPLE SEE WHO IS SPEAKING.

I MEAN WHO IS HE KIDDING....THEY INTENTIONALLY ONLY GIVE PUBLIC COMMENT SPEAKERS A LONG SHOT!!! (Have you noticed...the camera people have told me..."We were told, longshots only." TV 35 has been prevented by Council from giving the public anything but the longest of longshots...

So don't play THAT angle Eric. Let's face it...you just don't like Matt Dowd to express himself and look like he is "playing" you.

REMEMBER...NO MORE MASCOTS, MICKEY MOUSE -- AND SANTA'S BEARD BETTER BE A REAL IF HE SHOWS UP IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS DURING THE MEETING. NO BURKAS...CULTURAL DANCERS WHO WEAR MASKS DURING ETHNIC DAY PRESENTATIONS...

BUH-BYE!!!

And for the record (not that this blog is)...

I spoke with City Attorney Dion O'Connell after I was cut off myself, for wearing the Gene Simmons mask.

He told me that as long as you are not causing a disruption, you can wear a mask. HE TOLD ME THIS IN 2007. So he says I was cut off because they could not hear me. (Which is a crock of sh*t, because clearly, everyone heard me in Council Chambers. People who were there told me the audio was fine...and the sound was fine on the TV/internet.

So, THEY must have realized a masked was O.K. Because at first they said the mask caused a disruption (even though I was in a separate building at the time)...THEN City Attorney told me masks were o.k., as long as you weren't being disruptive (behavior).

So I can only go off of what the city attorney tells me.

And you can say, "Well council passed a new law banning masks (and if you feel it's illegal, challenge it in court)...HOWEVER --

EVEN IF A LAW WAS VOTED ON...IT WAS NOT YET IN EFFECT YESTERDAY...

AND FINALLY --

IF YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR MASKS...HOW COME THEY HAD TO PASS A LAW BANNING MASKS? (To me that says you are allowed to wear masks until the new "law" goes into effect. Otherwise, why do you have to pass a new ordinance? (They would just enforce the current law -- but they must feel that they cannot, without a new ordinance. And if that is so, they need to wait until the law is in effect (which it was not, yesterday.)

OK, here he goes again.

That insecure little pussy, Dave Elliott, who hides from the world behind the name Zuma Pussy, wearing an old ski cap and a half shaven stubble, is deleting posts again.

Oh, it is fine for him and his sweetie-pie Matt to whine like two little teenyboppers because they are being censored, but if someone says something critical about poor little oppressed wimpy, smelly stupid Elliott, he just deletes it.

Well, Sam may have given the fool the keys to this blog (ruining it in so doing) but Garcetti holds the key to the real life place, and Elliott, and his honeybunch Matt will continue to be deleted. A court will soon hold that their actions are disruptive and a nuisance, and are not entitled to first amendment protection.

As any first year law student knows, you cannot yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre, nor can you continually disrupt the process of government with inanities and foul language such as they both continue to use.

If you are reading this post, it is because the insecure pussy hasn't seen it yet, but be sure, it will continue to be posted here, and everywhere I can do so until everyone in blogdom knows how hollow the words are that this fool utters.

First Amendment, indeed. More like Attention Whore, I'd say.

3:14, thought you were on vacation? And you claim that I am deleting posts again? Do you just automatically start off all your posts with that? (I haven't deleted any comments since your last comment about me deleting posts. I am not the only person who deletes posts on this blog.)

And all that other stuff...you're kinda in your own little mental world. Please provide evidence of the council meetings where I "continue to use" foul language.

See that's why you have no credibility. EVERYONE READING THIS KNOWS THAT ZD DOES NOT USE FOUL LANGUAGE AT COUNCIL MEETINGS. So when you try and tag me with that, they see right through your agenda. (Which in your case is jealousy.)

You are correct when you say, "nor can you continually disrupt the process of government." Anyone who disrupts the council meeting will be removed from the meeting by the police. If that doesn't happen, there's no disruption. Just Garcetti panty-wad.

3:14am, a loser post on your part across the board (as usual). I think you are simply too angry and hostile (fear based emotions) to think clearly. Unlike some folks who know they are spinning a bunch of B.S., but they are just doing their job -- you actually believe you are logical and on point. (You must be a "right side"/creative type, cause you have no "left brain"/logic, loser.

Everyone makes fun of the turnout at NC elections and if you read today's papers you'll see that it was a poor turnout of parent voting yesterday. The average was only 200 for schools that have thousands of students.

Matt Dowd showed his lack of class, immaturity and uneducation when he stood at public comment and said "F You Eric. HE definitely has anger management issues most likely because of mommy. This guy needs to grow up and stop acting like a clown. Get a job but who would hire such a freak? The only people who wear masks that aren't mascots are cowards. That's why the KKK wore masks because they didn't have the balls to show their faces

Garcetti is more arrogant than even Bernie Parks. Who knew that was possible?

"the Commission should not give the Coliseum away just because the alum network is upping the pressure and leaning on everyone and her mother to do so."

No, they should "give the Coliseum away" (a deliberately inaccurate characterization of the situation, btw) because they have proven incapable of properly managing the facility in a way that benefits the tenants, the surrounding community, and the taxpayers for more than half a century.

A state senator (coincidentally, Mark Ridley-Thomas, who's challenging Parks for the Supe seat Burke has) proposed dissolving the Coliseum Commission and creating a new one, since they're so historically inept.

A couple of Councilmen had proposed the same thing last week.

Maybe that got Bernie worried enough to go in the opposite direction, and go to USC hat in hand to practically give the Coliseum away.

They should have just put into place a new commission; control of this state asset shouldn't be totally given away to USC.

I wonder when Council will start banning women with moustaches?

December 13, 2007 5:55 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

They have to ban those 80's floppy suit shirts with the big collars and the baggy, boxy jackets. Janice Hahn wears them every single day, and to make matters worse, the other day her colleagues complimented her bright red electric red boxy jacket with its floppy white shirt, that practically blinded you in the camera's glare.

Wendy called on her and said, "So now we get another chance to look at that amazing jacket," after onen of the males told her how great she looked.

Well, come to think of it, Jack Hoff has a major crush on Janice Hahn, and he said so himself, even though he says he has a Mexican wife and lots of little meztisos running around his house.

So I guess fantasies run in every direction. Does Janice have a moustache?

Maybe she and Alarcon can get an update on hair/ moustache updating.

That's not a bad idea every 25 years or so.

Jan Perry tries hardest to vary her boxy jackets, not easy to look stylish in extra plus sizes, and Wendy has some "interesting" fashion choices.

But Janice takes the fashion cake.

It matt had shown up in an electric red jacket with a big collared shirt, he might have gotten a compliment, too, and they'd have listened to him gripe for the hundredth time about his peddling problems on Venice Beach. But he wasn't smart about it. He was rude and crude about it and he lost what little sympathy he'd had.

Matt and Mutt vs. Eric and his side:

Any betting people out there willing to put down one against my hundred?

December 13, 2007 6:58 PM

seems like a load of hoop-la over mutt and his buddies. I question why don't they solve the original problem instead of wasting all this energy foiling the protests.

maybe Eric loves the challenge. eric loves matt dowd. its the only sane conclusion you could make.
he's got his finger on that button and matt gives him all the opportunity to use it.
what betteer trip could there be for a spoilt little asswipe like Garcetti.

So, here's one solution.

Matt, go back to school, get good grades and earn a Rhodes Scholarship so you can study at Oxford.

Then go to Harvard and get a degree and come back and work in campaigns and then run for City Council.

After you do that, then convince the other 14 members (or at least 7of them) to elect you President of the Council.

Then YOU can be an "asswipe" and have YOUR finger on the button.

Won't that be grand? Only problem is that four letter word that you and Mutt don't seem to be able to spell, it is called W - O - R - K.

Give it a go, Matey.

6:51 AM,

Yes, Eric is among the elite scholars. And I agree that the status does indeed allow him to enforce a higher degree of discretion over the Federal issues.

As a matter of fact, perhaps the U.S. would be a much better place if only those with certain academic achievement were allowed to make the decisions and call the shots for the rest of you.

7:22 AM, you know what? Northridge may very well have crack-laced water. If the council member there,
Greg Smith, thought he could make some money off of the deal, you bet he's lace it.

Why do you ask?
