Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Friday
The LA Times runs an editorial that hints many state government officials might be underpaid members of the Los Angeles City Council are probably overcompensated.
Discovered an interesting blog that covers the education scene, edspresso. A recent post rounds up coverage of Mayor V's D.C. Junket.
The Daily News takes Mayor V's transportation policies to task but offer no real solution of their own other than more Orange Lines.
Martini Republic is participating in a benefit for a Trader Joe's employee who was severely injured in a hit and run accident. Included in the benefit is a silent auction that features among other items, original works of art by blogger Joseph Mailander, which are quite lovely. To see photos of Joe's works as well as get information on the event, click here.
Zuma Dogg isn't the only blog-LA-sphere celebrity to get a chance to meet Mayor Villaraigosa. LAist has photos of Mark The Cobra Snake running into the Mayor on a Miami bound plane.
Walter Moore's "Oxymoron Du Jour" of the day (yes that's an intentional redundancy on my part): “Overzealous Gang Prosecution”
Just in time for the 2008 elections, courtesy of Mayor V: More police officers!
Check out the travel photos of Mayor V's Junket: lots of people in suits.
And finally, in case you were waiting for it, the up to date official County of LA Photo, reflecting Zev Yarovslasky as LA CountyMayor President Chairman of the Board.

It took 2 years for Antonio to figure out LA is the most under policed city in the US.
Mayor seeks record number of police officers
.......He also asks governor for $30 million to fight gang violence.
(HELL NO MORE MONEY TO GANG PROGRAMS. ANTONIO JUST WANTS THEM TO GIVE MORE POLITICIAL CAMPAIGN $$$ TO HIM) CONNIE RICE HAS SAID GANG PROGRAMS AREN'T WORKING AND INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM ANTONIO WANTS MORE $$$$$
Our officers are outnumbered," Villaraigosa said. "We remain the most under-policed big city in the United States of America. (DUH!!!! IF AV SPENT MORE TIME IN LA HE WOULD KNOW WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH)
.... Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa proposed a budget Thursday that would expand the police force to a record level by the end of next year, and he asked the governor to put up an additional $30 million toward the anti-gang effort.
.....The mayor said the budget he will release next month for the fiscal year beginning July 1 will include money to hire 780 officers, resulting — after the department's normal annual attrition — in a net gain of more than 220 officers.
GEE, A RECORD NUMBR 200 EXTRAS OFFICERS...IDIOT!!! LAPD will lose next month 300 because of DROP. Will someone please educate our midget mayor??? Antonio speaks out more and supports illegals more then police officers.

Actually, while New York City has more police per capita than L.A., several major cities have fewer.
The bottom of the following document, from the L.A.P.D., is a list showing that in mid-2005, L.A. had fewer police per capita than four major cities, but more police per capita than five other major cities:

Walter, question: how many under-policed cities are as geographically spread out as L.A.?
That might be an important difference on effectiveness and manageabiity.

What's up with the mayor? Have you seen those pictures Mayor Sam Yorty linked to on Friday's Thread showing the mayor on the airplane to Florida? Does he look the same to you? Maybe just bad lighting.

alarCON got got sworn in. He was proud to introduce his fiance and his sister. I heard his sister is a prominent activists, too. What did she do, and do his beliefs mirror hers, because he was very proud to have her there.

Antonio named Alarcon daughter to a commission again payback. No matter what Antonio does to himself he still looks like a dried up raisin, greasy, sleazy, dyed hair, too white teeth moron.
Walter, New York has 40,000 cops and yet LA has 100 more SQUARE MILES TO COVER THEN NY. This fact shows the difference in NY politicians making public safety a priority compared to the losers we have here in LA. For decades these clowns kept saying we don't need money for more police and now its caught up to the city. Don't forget 1,000 officers left cause they hated Bitter Bernie. That's a lot of cops we could still have.

Alarcon's sister is a communist.

Zuma, do you see a trend here?
Los Angeles is the capital of the
Socialist Progressive Movement.

oh no...now i'm sorry i aksed? so how much does alarCON agree with/follow his sister's views. I mean...I guess Mayor Antonio doesn't mind appointing her, and alarCON was proud to have her in chambers for his swearing in. But maybe he doesn't share her views. So that's my question.
But if this is true what you say, and I'm just taking in what I read here, the mayor appointed her. So what are her political views and do they influence her decison making? And if CM alarCON shares these beliefs...same question.
So can anyone weigh-in on this? ZD wants to know what he is up against in the shady fraud, waste and abuse dept.
Meanwhile, it's 12:12pm -- 2 hours into the meeting -- and it's still meaningless, time and money wasting kiss-ass, dog and pony shows. I wish there were SOME way the CMs could make better use of their time. After all, they were just out of town all week. ZD SAYS F*CK THESE PRESENTATIONS. AS LONG AS NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO KISS ASS, THEN THE CMs WON'T BE FORCED TO UT SMOOCH EACH OTHER.
(But they'll split hairs, over seconds when it comes to Big ZD those shady-frauds.)

It sounds like a joke, but it's not. The Southwest was part of Mexico once. But Mexicans didn't settle it, American immigrants did. That's how it ended up being part of America. Now they want to use illegal immigration to reverse the process — and the Left is right there to help them. Why not? Without Texas and Arizona, how often would Republicans win the White House?
