Actually, while New York City has more police per capita than L.A., several major cities have fewer.
The bottom of the following document, from the L.A.P.D., is a list showing that in mid-2005, L.A. had fewer police per capita than four major cities, but more police per capita than five other major cities:

That might be an important difference on effectiveness and manageabiity.
What's up with the mayor? Have you seen those pictures Mayor Sam Yorty linked to on Friday's Thread showing the mayor on the airplane to Florida? Does he look the same to you? Maybe just bad lighting.
alarCON got got sworn in. He was proud to introduce his fiance and his sister. I heard his sister is a prominent activists, too. What did she do, and do his beliefs mirror hers, because he was very proud to have her there.
Antonio named Alarcon daughter to a commission again payback. No matter what Antonio does to himself he still looks like a dried up raisin, greasy, sleazy, dyed hair, too white teeth moron.
Walter, New York has 40,000 cops and yet LA has 100 more SQUARE MILES TO COVER THEN NY. This fact shows the difference in NY politicians making public safety a priority compared to the losers we have here in LA. For decades these clowns kept saying we don't need money for more police and now its caught up to the city. Don't forget 1,000 officers left cause they hated Bitter Bernie. That's a lot of cops we could still have.

oh no...now i'm sorry i aksed? so how much does alarCON agree with/follow his sister's views. I mean...I guess Mayor Antonio doesn't mind appointing her, and alarCON was proud to have her in chambers for his swearing in. But maybe he doesn't share her views. So that's my question.
But if this is true what you say, and I'm just taking in what I read here, the mayor appointed her. So what are her political views and do they influence her decison making? And if CM alarCON shares these beliefs...same question.
So can anyone weigh-in on this? ZD wants to know what he is up against in the shady fraud, waste and abuse dept.
Meanwhile, it's 12:12pm -- 2 hours into the meeting -- and it's still meaningless, time and money wasting kiss-ass, dog and pony shows. I wish there were SOME way the CMs could make better use of their time. After all, they were just out of town all week. ZD SAYS F*CK THESE PRESENTATIONS. It sounds like a joke, but it's not. The Southwest was part of Mexico once. But Mexicans didn't settle it, American immigrants did. That's how it ended up being part of America.
