Is Measure L Really Such A Bad Idea?
Your thoughts, please.
Wouldn't it help level the playing field by putting caps on the amount of money an individual or group can donate to school board campaigns? That's a question, not an argument. I haven't had time to look into it, so if someone out there can explain the pros and cons succinctly, please do so.
The reason I ask is an article in the L.A. Times showing, in part, who has donated how much to the various school board candidates. Yikes.

Walter - using a 'clean elections' format would improve the quality of candidates and the likelihood we'd get a school board of expertise and one that is representative. Right now, like in most our elections, we get elected officials with the most $ from special interests and PACs, both inside and outside the area represented.
More to come from me on this after lunch!

looks like Pugliese will need an absolute miracle.
mayor's best friend endorsing Lauritzen? its more likely a token donation of firm following their client, and Quinones is on the sideline on the politics.
Can't wait to see the $400,000 TV bamboozle. they're making it right now I guess, some fluffy tug at the heartstrings family piece painting Galatzan as the concerned parent.
problem is, we don't need parents on the board, we need education administrators. parents can have their say at public comment.

Mayor is covering his ass. He knows Jon will win and wants to keep the communication open. He knows Tamara's (campaign) is failing. she has no platform or experience. Louis is a very nice guy- but he doesn'e understand the the iaaues of a lausd board member.
Lauritzen is his own man, no one owns him. If more people like him ran for public office, we would have less Eli's dictating the needs of his arts high school. auh2o. It's ironic a billionaire who's genius can cost multi (like ten's)-millions in cost overruns.
If he think's he's going to get his name on one of the new schools-forget it- there going to be named for Jose Santa Ana before him. He should wake up.

I think on election night we are going to see a majority of voters vote AGAINST JON LAURITZEN the incumbent, then for him.
Go Galatzan Go!

Walter, this propostion addresses three issues. You can't do that! Besides who wants to give term limits three terms long. Plus all the special interests issues.
Vote No on L!
