LA Firefighters Endorse Rodriguez
The United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC) Local 112, announced their endorsement of Monica Rodriguez, candidate for Los Angeles City Council District 7.Rodriguez, daughter of Los Angeles Firefighter Ralph Rodriguez, has long been associated with the Los Angeles Fire Department. Steve Tufts, President of the Firefighter's Union, stated, "Ms. Rodriguez's relationship with the LAFD started… well, at birth! We are so proud that a member of our fire department family has the opportunity to represent the residents of Los Angeles City Council District #7 and the firefighters of Los Angeles."
UFLAC is the labor representation organization for firefighters and emergency medical personnel in the City of Los Angeles. The organization has 3,500 members.

That was a dumb move on their part. Sounds to me like Rodriguez is just looking for name ID. I wonder what office she is thinking about running for next. Hmmmm

Don't count out Ms. Rodriguez. I know that the Feminist Majority made up of west side filthy rich libral woman are holding a huge Beverly Hills fund raiser for Monica. Look for Peg Yorkin, Mavis Leno, Lynne Wasserman and others to not only take out their own check book, but have others do the same. We all know these woman only get involved in state and natioal politics. Monica must be a viable canidate for these women to step up. If I were Richard and his stooges I'd be worried.
Richard has the COPE endorsement in this race and that means all the unions but UFLA endorsed him. He should have no trouble unless Burnside is doing miracle work on the VBM's for a low,low turnout election.
When do I get to see Richard hitting the heavy bags again?. I miss his cheesy campaign ads.
So what is Monica really looking for with all that name ID. First person to get this answer right gets a certificate of recognition from the Assembly Member of the 39 AD.
Monica makes a mockery of her own supporters in the ONLY debate that took place Friday night. Please, we heard her speak to her sister and to her other supporters(?) before and after the event. Yet, word was sent out earlier that she was sick and that she would not show up. Tipical politician trying to pull whatever stunt to get the votes by pulling a stunt like that. Monica had her sister read her beginning and ending statement coincidentally with a poor excuse well written about her not being able to speak. Face it Monica, you are a poor looser. You are getting endorsed by the Fire Fighters as a favor for your Daddy, only to make a mockery of them. I hold high respect for the Fire Fighters, but I'll reserver my feeling for who ever made the stupid decision to endorse you this time. MONICA, DROP OUT OF THE RACE! No place for you in ANY office.
Yikes. Monica was sick and had no voice. Of course it was a disappointment that she couldn't talk, as she had been looking forward to taking Richard on for many weeks.
One other concern about the this debate was the stupid comments that came from Margie Carranza and Oscar Mendoza. Both know nothing about the City, the community or City government and don't read anything.
Despite editorials in both the Daily News and the Times about Sunshine Canyon, Oscar claimed he would fight expansion when the time came. Kim Thompson was amazed at his absolutely dimwitted comments, as she knew him from the Valley Cityhood campaign. His campaign staff also carried a sign calling Alarcon anti-Semitic and a Hard Con.
About 90 minutes into the debate, his staff was asked to remove the offending sign. But Oscar only knew one phase "he's not a career politican", but he's a guy that hardly graduated high school.
Now for Margie Carranza, I guess she is the choice for the stupid contiguent. She told the audience she was against Neighborhood Councils at an event put on by 5 Councils. Most of those in the back of the room were mocking her, as things she said were something a child would have the wisdom not to say. Terminal Dumbness.
Now as for Richard Alarcon, he's got the moves. He know the issues and can speak to them and is absolutely well spoken in the debates. He has the skills to hang around the room after the debate to shake hands, hug and kiss babies.
Monica did not seem to have any significient amount of followers present, but she finally had some lawn signs.
Oscar has a huge crew and perhaps was close in numbers as Alarcon, but I guess it's a good idea to be part of a team for your boss, if you want to keep your day job.
The second the debate was over, Margie disappeared, clueless as ever, but then again politics is not a concept that she grasps.
If Oscar and Monica can keep Richard below 50% than there will be the next level. But, I wonder if any of Oscar's supporters are registered to vote, as they seem like the types that don't care about politics and probably have never registered to vote.
My guess at this point is that Richard will get about 59% of the vote. Oscar 19%, Monica 20% and Margie, maybe 125 votes.

Alarcon says he created 4000 jobs at the Van Nuys Plant. Why don't we ask the thousands of GM Van Nuys employees where their jobs went instead. GM Van Nuys employees were forced to retire with half there pay, or force to move to other parts of the country for half their salary. The current Van Nuys plant shopping center does not have 4000 jobs. So who's the liar. Yes, Alarcon and you ss or (stupid scum). Gangs; please, when Alarcon was the city council in the district, Alarcon did not reduce the gangs, Alarcon did nothing. If people don't know what Alarcon did to be called an anti-Semitic, then maybe you should know now. How about that race against Katz. Alarcon decided he would let the community know that Katz was Jewish. So Alarcon sent out a mailer showing that he was a devoted catholic with his wedding picture. This is what you stupid scum sam taylor seem to enjoy and encourage being a Pro Alarcon. I don't remember the Pope ever giving Alarcon a pardon from the Catholic Church to divorce. If he was so catholic he should know better not bring religion against a candidate specially the Jewish community.
I am sure the community loves the idea that he divorced his wife, used the Catholic religion to offend the Jewish, is dating a 22 year old female who is only 4 years older than the statutory allowable limit, I guess that makes it OK? If Oscar has no staff, maybe it could because those involved in his campaign are eager for change and passionate enough to see it happen, and are fully committed to Oscar Mendoza. Unlike RA who has people around him, simply because he signs a pay check over to them, therefor making it part of thier job description to make it seem as though he actually has community support.
Richard should try living in our district long enough to actually know the issues. Aparently he didn't care for the disrict at all since he moved away, untill PROP R made him think and move back... but sadly for his many years in public office and all the perks he's enjoyed over the years, he has no home of his own and is flat broke. Does he evn sleep in the apartment he claims to share with his new girlfriends brother?

SS Sam, were you so moved by Margie's stmt regarding the complete REVIEW of the $50M annual along with the previous $100M and have NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL OPEN THE BOOKS on expenses be opened to the public? So far this "horses race" has NO ONE up front, each keeps passing the other, WHO'S TO WIN?
