More LAUSD "Real Deal"

See LA Daily News article about LAUSD. After reading, it's basically gonna be a huge dysfunctional soap opera. A four way tug-of-war (Brewer, Mayor V., LAUSD School Board and Teacher's Union.) Watch for the teacher's union to be the biggest thorn. Sorry kids, now you got your fate in the hands of four different groups of politicians, with four different political motivations (four different butts to cover). Should be a lot of fun to watch from the sidelines, especially if you don't care about kids.
FULL ARTICLE: http://www.dailynews.com/ci_4813232 (See ZD's posted comment, too.)

MEANWHILE, HERE'S A VERY EXCELLENT COMMENT FROM A MAYOR SAM READER. I WANNA MAKE SURE CONCERNED CITIZENS HAVE A CHANCE TO READ IT, IN CASE THEY MISSED IT IN THE COMMENTS SECTION:

"Eli Broad/Riordan/AV/Nunez all are following the contracts. I would definitely want to control the budgets but more importantly I would loooovvvveee to control the bond construction money. AB1381 addresses nothing that actually has anything to do with the classroom education or results in the classroom.

What it does address is who's running what budgets.

For example and mark my words...the three clusters will be comprised of the group of schools defined as having the highest potential for school construction development in their areas (term used loosely).

Don't think of them in terms related to school improvement, underachieving or quick fix to raise API clusters. If you do/are you are completely out of the game.

Think of them as the one's with the most potential for building where there will be less opposition from the community and then look around and see where all the LLC's held by Broad and Riordan are land holders or where new LLC's are being established by the land acquisitions being negotiated.

Start by getting a realtor friend to run a profile once a month that tract the changing of owners of 3+ acre properties within the boundaries of LAUSD. Ah, now your wising up my friend. " [ZD says, 'Hoooooody hoooooooooooo!]

What about that LA Times editorial about Alarcon?

Nice.

I'm just trying to figure out when the Times is going to start looking into the construction side of the District. "Not on time, way over budget, and largely pointless" must describe half the sites under construction.

I guess the lesson of Belmont was: if you build a complete travesty and squander billions, nobody who pays taxes will even care, because their own kids don't go there.

Tokofsky has not decided to run because the Mayor has given him a sweetheart deal at Green Dot and agreed not to release that nasty opposition research (i.e., that Mr. T voted on Green Dot contracts while being employed by same).

This is good news for all children in LAUSD.

What's even better is now the Mayor has more money to go after the remaining slugs on the Board. Once that's done, all the trolls in the various departments (including the numbskull General Counsel and the Board President) will be gone.

Start polishing your resume Marlene.

Well LAUSD school member Tokofsky’s gone. 6 to go.

This has really become too much of a mess. Too many egotistical power players who have forgotten why they’re in this struggle to begin with.. the kids.

The battle between the LAUSD, the mayor and the unions looks a lot like the conflict between the US, the Sunnis and the Shiites. No blood here but the damage to generations of Los Angeleno’s behind us is just as bad.

We may not be able to draw new borders over in Iraq, but we can over here. Let’s give the schools back to the community. Break up the school district by clusters and let each become it’s own stand alone school district with its own locally elected board.

(I mentioned this earlier in a blog entry thats a bit dated but it seems more appropriate here)

Anonymous AV lover,
You have no clue about the school district or David Tokosfky! He was the only reformer on the board. Your mayorial boyfriend does not like people who diasgree with him.

Tokofsky has worked for Green Dot for 2 year and never voted for them. Your reseach should show Mr T boss Steve Barr supports the Mayors reform plans.

You need a new researcher and a boyfriend becasue the mayor will kill you off when you dont agree with him or Better Ms Erickson will say gratuitous thing about you in the press.

Let's not forget the guy who forced the school bond onto the infrastructure package along with housing, transportation and levees - which are ACTUAL infrastructure issues - was none other than Antonio's best bud, Fabian Nunez. Coincidence? I think not!

Antonio puts together a "team" to run 3 schools. Great! Who's paying and don't tell me its out of the slush fund he created.

Ok here's one for the local reporters who know who to investigate. Why didn't Antonio show up for his big photo op on Saturday with Arnold, Mahony and all the media at the Hollenbeck Youth Center toy give away? Rumors were flying that 1. he wasn't invited this year. 2. Arnold is mad at him. Its not like Antonio to miss a big photo op. I noticed he's jumping in on LAPD's huge toy give aways all over the city for his photo ops. Why didn't he organize one with all the money he has?

What's the deal with Antonio and Alarcon? Is MAV supporting Alarcon? Is Nunez getting a state appointment for Cindy Montanez to get her out of the race?

The word is mayoral, not mayorial. I hate when I read the word mayorial or when I hear it stated out loud. Those must be the LAUSD grads.
