Daily News Asks: "Are There Too Many Chiefs At LAUSD?"

The correct answer is "yes, yes, oh my gosh, yes!"

The district has plenty of licensed educators. The problem, in my opinion, is that too many of them are in offices instead of classrooms. If you re-assigned them, you could have smaller class size or, at a minimum, a much lower student-to-teacher ratio.

There's nothing wrong with having two teachers in one classroom at the same time. On the contrary, it lets us -- us teachers -- provide better service, and more of it, to the children.

such an important topic and no posts..

it costs an est. $30 million to reduce class size by 1 student.

one major issue that has been raised by apeaker nunez, is that the schools are unequiped to deal with an immigrant who is of high school age and has had little or no previous education, and he / she speaks no english, and now so late in the development game we must educate this student.

If AV has ideas I welcome them.

Who, where, etc. It may be true, however, it's not enough to make a statement without adequate research to back it up.
