Can Someone Lend ZD $1.5 Million For A New Condo At Venice Beach

I told all of y'all, the first day I showed up at City Hall on April 4, 2006 to protest the shady, unconstitutional ban Mayor Antonio and City Council imposed on the artists on the west side (beach side) of Venice Beach had NOTHING to do with store owners' businesses being hurt over the sale of $1 dollar incense and Zuma Dogg T shirts -- and everything to do with the gentrification, condo-conversion craze, running rampant throughout the City of Los Angeles; wiping away every bit of national culture and heritage that makes L.A. a world-wide attraction.

So, as I was walking down the Venice boardwalk today, I saw some new construction going up. WOW! It must be some of that affordable housing The Mayor is so concerned about. So I aksed the construction worker, "What are you building?" Their response, "New condos...$1.5 million dollars each."

YOU SHADY, DECEITFUL, SUNSAB*****S AT CITY HALL: I TOLD YOUR ASS IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RETAIL STORES ON THE EASTSIDE OF THE BOARDWALK, AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE MAYOR'S SELF-IMPOSED CONSTRUCTION BOOM. (Everything in Mayor V.'s City Hall & Eric G.'s City Council is a mere diversionary tactic for some "special interest" fueled, high-end, development project.)

And the middle class and lower class are paying the tab. Your Mayor and Los Angeles City Council members can't even have the rich developers (making all the profit off the backs of the middle and lower/working class) help kick-in.

Meanwhile, you destroy the cultural and economic integrity of this City while you steamroll the City and kick lifelong L.A. residents out on the streets; to be replaced by high-price, luxury condos like the $1.5 million dollar ones going up on Venice Beach, overlooking the tweakers and increased homeless population below.

(And there was a big sign promoting the sale of another set of condos, just down the boardwalk.)

But the Mayor will tell you that he wants affordable housing, with the rich living with the middle and lower income families, creating a real community balance in the City; helping traffic problems by having people not having to commute as much. (Like if teachers and police and city workers could live in the communities they work/serve...Less commuting; better quality of life. (Belushi Voice): "But, NOOOOOOOOOO!" There's not a stitch of room for any of that, unless the voters in all income brackets (lower, middle, higher) give the Mayor's short list of preferred contractors a piece of your paycheck (Prop. H/billion dollar "affordable housing bond") that only gives you about 1000 units a year, for the next ten years, while there are 40,000 homeless people living on the streets of Los Angeles today, according to stats I heard while at City Hall.

So ZD's next prediction is to watch for the bottom to fall out of this Mayoral/City Council imposed fake luxury-condo crisis, just about as soon as all the money has been made off the construction. (Like a cheap Hollywood set, with nothing but two-by-fours propping everything up. (Hello, Loft Yuppies still being harassed by aggressive Skid Row panhandlers, so you are already moving out, and no one is moving in; especially new business.)

So let's try and do a better job, and try and get rid of all the bums at Venice Beach. Only one problem, fool...Those weren't bums, those were tourist attractions. And I also noticed, a whole bunch of stores were out of business on the East Side/Retail side, that were usually just getting ready for the holiday tourist season. But now, tourists will see a lot of condo construction overhead empty store fronts, with "This Space Available" signs up and down the boardwalk where you used to see the true, vibrant spirit of the community (culture).

And by the way, no on H & R.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low):

Mr. Dogg, how delightful to see you again, and that is meant sincerely. I too have seen those very condos built, as there is also a fine marine accessories proprietor in the area.

Fellow patriots, common men and women and wishful thinkers, take heed. THIS IS THE SIGNAL WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR, savvy?

While ours is a courageous gamble, as long as we each take firm hold of the dice that Fate has given us we should turn out safe in the end.

And now for a sot plank walking update: Several staffers at City Hall have mentioned to the pirates in their midst that depending upon next Tuesday's election money and party support will either be given or withdrawn in March. In other words, make sure nobody screws up and that all of the ducks are in a row.

Sots, we've already gotten to your ducks. The only thing left is the goose that lays the golden eggs. It's her neck on the line so plan your holiday dinner feasts accordingly. I concur with Mr. Dogg. Get your curiculum vite ready.

Smee Nunez managed to hop up onto the plank all by himself with no prodding from us. I was in the audience at the college when Mr. Kerry made his infamous remarks about education and military service. Smee Nunez smiled and agreed with Mr. Kerry. Bugger Nunez, the smiling sot.

Ms. Romero is already on the plank, Mr. Cedillo has been deposited upon the plank by his actions at the labour protest a few weeks back. Mr. DeLeon may or may not be on the plank, the bugger is invisible, savvy? Nonetheless, he can't hide in the loo forever now, can he?

Mr. Dogg, will you do the honors of getting Mr. Padilla onto the plank? We'll take care of the sots in City Hall. Ms. Sarno has garnered the most votes, big surprise there. Her presence will give Ms. Romero company and comfort.

THEY'RE ALL ON THE PLANK OF THEIR OWN ACCORD. ITS UP TO US TO PUSH THEM OFF ON TUESDAY. The rest walk in March.

Oh, and Mr. Dogg: The sots should be neither aware, very aware or afraid, very afraid. They should be nervous that the silence they hear is the noise that will do them in.

Profanity and name calling are not only uncivil and rude but detract from the validity of your comments. It is difficult to take your comments seiously. Mayor Sam's Sister City has denigrated itself by allowing your rants.

And how are they paying for this? Are they anticipating passage of both H and R?

They better wake up quick! The voting taxpayer isn't as stupid as they think!

ZD-

I don't follow your logic at all.

Is the city building these condos? Don't think so.

Is the city shutting down businesses and replacing them with condos? Don't think so.

The fact is property values on every beach have skyrocketed, not just Venice. The people who own apartment buildings have decided to make more money by selling or converting to condos. The people who rent those stalls and stories to east side merchants have decided that they can make much much more cash by selling to someone who wants to build condos.

Do you really think the city conspired to stop you from selling t-shirts to drive up propety values to make rich condos possible? Smoke better herb, bro. Property values at Venice Beach are sky-high whether someone sells Shea Butter or not. For good or bad, real estate speculation along the coast is manifest destiny.

If you really think you and your buddy Hunt were the last impediment to condo construction on the beach, you're nuts. They would have built on, under, and around you.

Well, now we know for a fact that "captain jack sparrow" is a student at Pasadena City College -- or a credentialed journalist.

How do I know? Because NO ONE except for the press and students/faculty were allowed into the Kerry event there.

Which is it, jack?

Thursday will be a press conf. annoncing something from the NO On Prop R heroes. Those clowncil members must be shaking in their boots. They have lied so much there's no way to back track now.
THANK YOU LA PAPERS FOR KEEPING THE NO ON PROP R FIGHT ALIVE. EVERY WEEK THERE HAS BEEN A NEGATIVE STORY OF THIS BULLSHIT LIES CLOWNCIL ARE FEEDING THE PUBLIC.

Dailybreeze.com
Term-limits plan faces hurdles even if it wins approval...
Proposition R's backers hope Los Angeles voters will ignore questions on the measure's legality and allow officials to stay in office longer...To put it gently, the campaign for Proposition R has not gone the way the Los Angeles City Council hoped it would.

Here you go again, Zuma Dogg. Why in God's name do you think you have a right to sell your t-shirts on public property and that this self-declared right will prevent escalating property values? And the sales of incense and t-shirts are not deemed "art." Get a real job, and quit using my taxes to freeload on public property.

You are so right, ZD, there is no housing crisis. It was created by smart growth planners and clowncil members. Makes you wonder why, doesn't it? War chests?

The clowncill members all say that the population of Los Angeles is going to increase 30% by 2030, but this figure is incorrect. The Southern California Association of Governments who is responsible for making these estimates says it will increase by 10% not 30%.

Wendy Greuel is a long-time smart growth planner with donors in very high places. She has convinced the rest of the clowncil and her close buddy His Polio-ness that transit villages are the way to Political Heaven. First, chairman of housing and now, chairman of transportation.

Gail Goldberg, our new city planner, is famous for her transit villages in San Diego.

All of this construction is being done in the name of low-cost housing, but the only low-cost housing that poor people can afford are the rentals which are being torn down or converted to make way for housing which is for sale.

Have you checked out the size of the war chests these clowncil people hoard? Or the size of the donations being made to LA BEST and other clowncilmembers' pet projects that they ride high upon?

Careful, it makes you sick!

the famous Harry Perry sued this city in 1997 and won the right to sell T shirts on this 'public property'. Why? because its an indisputable forum for public expression. law. government may not interfere in this forum without compelling interests, and without extremely precise regulation. law. finally, permitted expression may not be divided into commercial and non commercial speech, and thus be regulated as such. that too is law.
and, naturally the price goes up on the condos if theres no hippie, beatnik, negro incense oil t shirt and drum circle action going on down under the window you just paid 1.5 million for. its not just Dogg and Hunt fool, its hundreds of protected permitted entrepreneurs providing a service to this city and nation, and fools like you ought to back off till you get the true facts.

Yo Dowd!

Check your facts, brotha. The 1997 case allowed Perry to sell his MUSIC, not t-shirts.

I don't know why you think you are allowed to sell commercial merchandize on public property. Can I go to Griffith Park and sell auto parts? NO. Can I go to the Watts Towers and sell lawn furniture? NO. Can I go to MacArthur Park and sell leather jackets? NO. So why in God's name do you think you have a right to sell your crap in the pubic part of your choosing?

Dogg,

They are truly destroying Venice. Goodbye music, artists, culture, hello yuppy scum. As usual, the big developers, consultants and rich condo/homebuyers have all the clout, and the people of LA has none. How can we save Venice, Zuma? All I can think of is a "Save Venice From Yuppy Scum" bumper sticker movement?
