Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday
Boy talk about pay to play! Former Hahn era deputy mayor Troy Edwards testified he got free massages at the behest of an ex-city commissioner since indicted for allegedly embezzling from his employer, according to a grand jury transcript unsealed Tuesday. Edwards told the grand jury in August that he went to the Bonaventure Club several times with Leland Wong and that there were times when he was not given a bill.
Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. on KPCC, Patt Morrison will host a debate on Proposition 90 which restricts local and state government’s eminent-domain power to confiscate private property solely for public use. The guests include Tom Adams, Board President of the California League of Conservation Voters, speaking against and Assemblyman Ray Haynes speaking for the measure.
David Hernandez reports at Mayor Sam 2 that the House of Representatives has passed legislation that would make it harder for groups such as the ACLU to collect fees in efforts to sue to outlaw religious symbols such as they did with the LA County Seal. Such a measure would make it more likely for citizen's groups to take on the ACLU in court without the threat of financial ruin.
Stories by Jennifer Solis and Walter Moore caught the eyes of editors of KCET's Life and Times blog who are covering the emergency room crisis in Southern California and the situation at King Drew Medical Center.
Former Congressman and Clinton impeachment prosecutor, James Rogan of Glendale, took the bench Tuesday to begin a new career as an Orange County judge. Rogan, appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger back in July, served as a Glendale Municipal Court Judge back in the 1990s.
Starting today, our "Open Thread" segment will be carried at our sister blog "We Clean Your Toilets." Usually, this will start with some news item about the Mayor, but you can take it from there. Posts here on the Sister City should relate to the topic at hand as best as possible, anything too far off topic may not get published.

MEMO TO THE "LA ANTONIA TIMES"
Editors Baquet, Clayton, and Martinez,
I have a new slogan for the scribes in the newsroom "WRITE TO PLAY"!!! Think, you can send Steve Hymon down to City Hall to follow up on the Hahn era scandals. Steve Lopez can journey through the Second street tunnel to the "BONEAVENTURE" to do a feature on those messuages that Edwards, Contreas, and others were enjoying. LOPEZ and HYMON really need to penetrate and get deep into this story. Please don,t message over the "LABOR" connection to this scandal. After Ludlow, Miguel and the County Labor Federation need to be investigated over the connection to the Wong case. OH, back to "WRITE TO PLAY". "THE OLD GREY HAG ON SPRING STREET" can partner with the "BONEAVENTURE", by rewarding scribes with messages for stories that shine positivly
on your favorite people and subjects. HYMON writes a glowing article on "HIS POLLONESS"? GO TO THE BONEAVENTURE!!! LOPEZ scribes on the Foley Scandal? GO TO THE BONEAVENTURE!!! RUTTAN bashes the Bush White House? GO TO THE BONEAVENTURE!!! GEFFIN buys the TIMES? BOTH WAYS AT THE BONEAVENTURE!!!

The release of disgraced former L.A. Deputy Mayor Troy Edwards’s grand jury testimony now confirms what the public has known for a long time- “Pay to Play” was alive and well in L.A. What the public did not know until now was the “Troy Edwards special” at the massage parlor in downtown L.A. Such is the case of public corruption- government officials compromise themselves sexually and the taxpayers be dammed. There is something to be said for the need for morality in this country.

Wow, this site has truly died. What happened and how did it happen so quickly? I used to check Mayor Sam's two or three times a day, but now it's more like once a week. I clicked over here today hoping for commentary on the Troy Edwards/Leland Wong scandal, and I was shocked to discover a ghost town.
Alas, it was bound to happen. This site has changed radically from the time when it featured juicy revelations by actual government insiders -- and frequently scooped the local mainstream media to boot! Without criticizing or pointing fingers, Mayor Sam's is now... something quite different. Ah well, it was good while it lasted!

How many folks keep posting that they are not going to read this site anymore nor post anymore. Yet they keep reading and posting.

Yup, David Zahniser who is the best reporter in LA should investigate the client list at the Bonaventure of politicans who got those massages. Now that would be a story. Pay to Play is still happening in City Hall. Look at all our midget mayors appointees to commissions. They either donated to his campaign, are doing things for him now or are associated with his family ties.
