Terrorists Kill 470 In L.A.
The ABC national evening news showed diagrams of the train routes in Bombay (aka Mumbai), India, with little symbols representing each of eight bombs. Estimated number of people killed: 183.
The local news had already showed Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who strives to turn every news story from anywhere in the world into a photo-op. He was standing in front of a bank of video monitors, claiming that MTA subways are safe because there are now little cameras mounted in stations. He didn't explain how these cameras would do anything other than provide a posthumous record of a terrorist attack. He did, however, claim that we became much safer here in L.A. during the past year -- the implication being that we are safter since he took office.
During that year, however, 470 people have been murdered in Los Angeles. That's like having two-and-a-half of the Bombay bombings occur right here.
Whether the gangs committing murder in L.A. are home-grown, or MS-13, or something else, stopping this carnage needs to be the City's first priority -- certainly higher than having two City Councilmen travel to Beirut to make it L.A.'s "sister city."
By virtue of the number of people murdered here each year, L.A.'s sister cities are Bombay, Fallujah, Oklahoma City and Madrid. Let's treat the Bombay bombings as a wake-up call, and get City Hall focused on stopping the terrorism here.
POSTSCRIPT at 11:11 p.m.:
Make that 471. Anna Elizabeth Interiano, 16, a student at Hamilton High was murdered today, just three blocks from school. CBS Channel 2 reports that the murders were apparently gang members, but the victim was not. She was shot at 1:30 p.m., and died at 6:30 p.m.

Dear Walter,
fuck you.
anyone notice who fall this blog has dropped since walter moore took his post?

Moore--who are you? That's really dumb. My husband works in the anti-terrorism division of LAPD and the cameras in our city can do much more than posthumous work. Learn your facts before you mouth off.

Honey, unfortunately Walter is correct on this.
P.S. can someone please interpret 11:30's last sentence for us? Most of us here aren't yet very fluent in Nahuatl.

Hey Cornholio, he said "Bombay (aka Mumbai)." The "aka" stands for "also known as." Thank me.

Get on the topic dumbshits. Beruit is a good choice for LA's Sister City given the violent deaths here. What can Antonio do about it?

I don't agree with everything Walter has to say, but at least the guy had the balls to actually run for office and he posts using his real name. His critics hide in the shadows and throw rocks.

Perhaps LAPD can deploy its officers to patrolling the streets of Los Angeles instead of duplicating the efforts of LAX Airport Police at the Airport. I work at LAX and have observed on a continuous basis at least a dozen officers from LAPD patrolling and harassing citizens in the Central Terminal Area. My carpool who drops me off and picks me up has been pulled over 3 times by these officers for such reasons as failing to turn her head when stopped at a stop sign, dirty license plates etc. Officers are targeting minority drivers at LAX and do not look twice at any of the taxi cabs or embty busses that continually make the rounds of the mile long World Way. It is an abuse at the highest levels. LAWA refuses to pay for these supplemental officers as they have 600 of their own, yet LAPD insists on patrolling the area and insists that they should be appropriately compensated. I'll bet more citations are issued on World Way than on Wilshire Blvd. during any given day.
I forgot to mention the LAPD officers stationed at LAX screening stations being payed overtime by the Department of Airports for sitting at a podium and reading their newspapers and magazines for hours at a time.
A message to the biggoted police and their leaders. The citizens are not blind the abuses are readily apparent. STOP HARASSING THE HONEST AND HARD WORKING CITIZENS WHO PAY YOUR SALARIES. TURN OFF THE CELL PHONES AND DO YOUR FUCKING JOBS. PATROL THE STREETS AND STAY OUT OF THE AIRPORT.
I invite the readers of this BLOG to take a look around the airport when you're dropping off family / friends at the airport. Don't dilly dally at the curb, and remember, the speed limit is 25 MPH. Clean your license plates and turn your head a full 90 degrees in each direction when stopped at a stop sign in LAX.
If there are any ACLU reps reading this, I'd be glad to provide any information for a selective enforcement claim against the city.

Actually, Andrew, we can easily afford more police, without a tax hike. The City took in $700 million more this year than last. Hence, you could leave spending the same as it was in every category as last year, and hire all the police you want. The dangerousness of our streets is a choice, not a necessity.
Also, to the lady who claims cameras can prevent terrorist attacks, would you please explain how? That is a question, by the way, not an argument. Educate us.

Wacko,
No matter how media hungry ADV is (tell us something we don't know), and no matter how bad the crime problem is here in LA, your post still beckons the question:
What kind of sick bastard would title his blog post "Terrorists Kill 470 in L.A." when there was just a major terror attack in Mumbai one day ago?

When Antonio ran for CD14 he promised that he would be at the site of every murder in that district. As soon as he found out that this was a daily occurrence and that not every murder scene was a photo-op, he stopped showing up. But it was good campaign fodder and the dumbshits in CD14 responded by voting for him, just like the rest of the dumbshits throught L.A. who fell for his bullshit.
This summer, like very summer, murder ates are up. Why isn't Antonio at the Hamilton shooitng or the shooting of the 4 year old girl in south central or the drive death of the 12 year old in Boyle Heights, the list goes on and on. No solutions, just grand standing. But hey, you got what you wanted L.A.

I think your headline is absolutely on the money! LA is filled with terrorists (gang members)and it's only getting worse. Ana Interiano (and her first name only has one "n") was talking to friends when she was shot in the HEAD. She was only 16 and she wasn't a gang member. She was one block away from home and it was 1:30 in the afternoon. Something has to be done...and no, I don't have the solutions.

Dumfucks anon 10:25 AM and Bunker,
7:51 AM is right on the money here, LAPD in the airport focus on stupid shit rather than what might actually be a real threat, like those empty shuttles. Yet we don't see those being pulled over, but God help you if you're Black or Latino. Those fuckers seem to thinks minority is synonym for terrorist.

Please let us know if you have an explanation about how the cameras can avert terrorism. If they can, I'd be happy to know how.
To those who have come to my defense:
Thank you. The ad hominem attacks get a little passe after a while. People who lack anything intelligent to say about a story or issue instead just engage in name-calling, which does no one any good.
To 8:05 am.:
If 470 people killed in one city in one year isn't terrorism, what would you calll it?
What is the difference whether the gangs running our streets, murdering innocent bystanders scot-free, wear bandanas instead of turbans?
Whether home-grown, like McVeigh, or foreign, like Bin-Laden, people and groups engaged in mass murder are terrorists.
The attacks in Bombay aka Mumbai shocked the world. The murder statistics in L.A. should shock those of us who live here.

The last face I want to see on my tv screen is that shit-ass mayor. He shows up at every mexican gangbanger murder, but where is he when the blacks are gunned down by the mexicans?
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, folks. Every non-mexican in this city is sick of him!!! His days are numbered!!! He is the antithesis of everything this city USED to stand for. He is the greatest posterboy for anti-Mexican sentiment!!! He is the symbol of everything that is wrong with this city. And he constantly reminds us of it every single time he runs his skinny little legs off to find a camera.

Just a few points of clarification...
-Walter Moore has run for office, filling the gap where there may not have been a Republican challenger, though I don't think he's currently running.
-Although Bombay officially changed its name to Mumbai, a significant faction of its citizens still call it Bombay. It is not stupid, inappropriate, incorrect to call it Bombay.
-People use the word "terrorism" in a lot of different ways, usually to suit their rhetorical needs (e.g. George Bush is a terrorist or Saddam Hussein is a terrorist). I think the definition of terrorism could be an interesting debate.
Dictionary.com has three entries for "terrorism":
a) n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
(Source: The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition)
b) noun
1 : the unlawful use or threat of violence esp. against the state or the public as a politically motivated means of attack or coercion
2 : violent and intimidating gang activity [street terrorism] —ter·ror·ist /-ist/ adj or noun —ter·ror·is·tic /"ter-&r-'is-tik/ adjective
(Source: Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law, © 1996 Merriam-Webster, Inc.)
c) n : the calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimindation or coercion or instilling fear [syn: act of terrorism, terrorist act]

Fifty nine percent of the votes?
Don't get too carried away with that, since: i) only something like 26% of the registered voters bothered to show up (it may have been slightly more, I can't recall); ii) he only got that versus Hahn, whereas in the primary, the majority of voters cast their ballots for candidates other than Villaraigosa.
Also, I do plan to run for mayor in the 2009 election, unless you guys totally exhaust my enthusiasm for politics, or City Hall changes course about 180 degrees -- neither of which seems likely.

Los Angeles is a Mexican cesspool hellhole. ANYONE who dares to dispute this fact is either anti-American or hispanic.
IT IS A FACT THAT LA IS THE GANGBANGER CAPITAL OF THE COUNTRY.
DID YOU WATCH WIDE ANGLE LAST NITE?
HAVE YOU SEEN THE MS13 DOCUMENTARY ON CNN?
HAS ANYONE EVER DRIVEN THROUGH THE BOUNDLESS BARRIOS OF LA?
HAS ANYONE EVER NOTICED THE TATTOOED, SHAVED HEADS, BAGGY GANGBANGERS WHO OCCUPY OUR CITY?
HAS ANYONE EVERY DRIVEN BY A GOVERNMENT SCHOOL AT 3:00 WHEN THESE MONSTERS ARE RELEASED TO THE STREETS?
MEXICANS MAKE UP 1/2 OF THE PRISON POPULATION.
EVERY SINGLE ROBBERY, BURGLARY, HOME INVASION IS BY A MEXICAN.
DOES ANYONE WATCH THE NEWS? EVERY SINGLE CRIME IS COMMITTED BY A PERSON WITH A MEXICAN LAST NAME.
THE LIST COULD GO ON FOR MILES.
THESE MEXICAN ANIMALES NEED TO BE SHIPPED TO SIBERIA AND LOCKED UP FOREVER. DEPORTATION WON'T DO THE TRICK. TREAT THEM LIKE MEXICO TREATS THE GUATAMALANS AND SALVADORIANS...
AND GET THEM THE HELL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY. THERE WILL BE A CIVIL WAR. AMERICANS ARE SICK OF THESE THIRD WORLD PEASANTS SNEAKING INTO OUR COUNTRY...THEY HAVE NO, NADA, NIL RIGHTS WHATSOEVER. THEIR OWN COUNTRY DOESN'T WANT THEM...WHAT IS THAT SAYING TO EVERYONE. MEXICO IS DOING AN ETHNIC CLEANSING AND DUMPING THEM ON OUR SOIL.
WE WILL VOTE OUT EVERY SINGLE MEXICAN OR PRO-ILLEGAL POLITICIAN. ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT!!!

7:51am and 6:12pm you sound like a bunch of disgruntled employees because it was agreed that new airport police officers NOW HAVE to now go through LAPD academy to get trained. You're also upset because its been reported many times in the media that airport police don't have the specialized units of bomb dogs etc. that LAPD has so LAPD will continue to take care of those areas. Then add the Channel 4 story about LAX SECURITY RAISES CONCERNS that Chuck Henry did and it embarrassed airport security not LAPD. Both agencies want to make the airport safe so stop posting immature false statements here.

I've heard KTLA News was recently even considering changing the name of their evening show to "What Crimes Mexicans Committed Today." The NCLR, however, got wind of this, and threatened KTLA with an anti-discrimination lawsuit on the grounds that 15% of crimes were committed by non-Hispanic people and that 15% is a large number. They also pointed out that some of the "Hispanic" criminals were only part Hispanic. KTLA is now considering changing the show's name to the more neutral "What Acts Members of That Race Committed Today."

I am indeed employed by the Department of Airports and have first hand knowledge of such activities based on empirical observation. I am not disgruntled as the new agreement between the LAPD and LAWA does not affect me. You infer that I am a police officer, I am NOT!
It does not matter what department polices the airport, it makes no difference. The point is that there is a duplication of efforts by both departments.
Simply put, it's a pissing match between the LAPD and LAWA. The spineless councilmembers and MAV will not intervene and keep Willy and Lydia in check.
Before accusing me of making false statements, perhaps you should do a little research. I'm sure someone that reads this BLOG will be able to provide some statistics of citations issued on World Way vs. other city thoroughfares. Research the articles posted in the LA Times and Daily Breeze about overtime paid to LAPD by LAWA.
Security measure enhancements since 9/11 only serve to secure the airport from the public's perspective. Any insider will tell you there are many holes in the system yet we are constantly reminded in the media that the public "won't mind as long as it enhances security". This enhanced security is only a fascade.
7:51, or whatever the time was.

Gee where did the anti-LAPD immature posters come from? The fact is this city is in a real crisis because they can't recruit officers. Why? Because every other smaller dept. around LA is offering up to $20,000 -$30,000 more and those officers don't have to put up with the shit LA officers have to. Officers are leaving becuase of people like John Mack. We have a gang banger mayor who only caters to Blacks, yet YOUNG KIDS ARE DYING EVERY DAY and where the hell are these politicans? They just don't give a shit and ooopss I forgot only officers are tryng to go after the terrorists killing those kids. We have our own Iraq right in South LA and no one gives a shit.
